If you or your player is afraid of the ball or afraid to get hit by the pitch, these 5 steps are the best techniques we've found to get over it...quickly!
Thank you I was getting really great at hitting and then I got drilled in the back of the neck and it has shook me ever since. Thank you for helping me and everybody else.
Clint..this is AWESOME. I mean it. Fear of getting beaned is shared by every player from a little leaguer to an elite MLB hitter facing a guy throwing gas. There is no getting around it and you have be just little bit crazy to play baseball. My son is a pretty good hitter but he goes through periods where he steps out and doesn't execute the way he wants. I also coach little league. No amount of us convincing them it will be ok..matters when a guy wears one and all the other players see it. Giving kids the tools to try and re-focus their attention on hitting instead of surviving is the key and these are some the most practical ones I've ever seen. I'm gonna share these with him and any players I coach to see if it can allow them find their best swing for game day. Thank you!
Man, this video is phenomenal. So much different then any vid out there. This helped my son instantly. He’s only 7, but you completely changed his thought process. Great job, and thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’ve sent this to others to help them as well. Really, just a great mental instructional video.
this genuinely helps me so much. i fractured my index finger after having a pitch make direct contact with my finger, and ever since my legs shake every at bat. but after this, im surprisingly humorous about it. something that helps me is when a kid is throwing heat, laugh and tell the catcher or tell yourself “dang, he can really throw”. It makes me feel more confident and ready for anything at the plate
Thank you so much! I love your approach, it's been disheartening to watch my son go from being one of the best hitters on the team to massive fear and freezing at the plate. I am going to share this with him today! Thanks again!
Don't feel bad my kid came out and started hitting good as the only 6th grader to make his middle school team .He is a pretty good pitcher and that helped him but I told him he had to hit in tryouts in order to make the team and he had been afraid before. He hit during the tryouts against good 7th grade pitchers so he made the team .He got at bats in games and was obviously afraid .Coach made him bunt .That scared him more then having to hit so he started hitting because he thought bunting was scarier .He went 5 for last 6 at bats .Covid Hit season ended . His Seventh grade season he is pitching good but afraid at the plate again .We have talked about his fear .His legs according to him are completely stiff .They are not though because he begins to shuffle them out of the batters box .He knows he is afraid .He does not know how to deal with it.
@Kayitun no it’s something that the cia released you can search it up. It focuses your mind on repeating the numbers and doesn’t focus on how much the pain hurts
Remember, when you're a hitter and you step in that white chalked box the mindset must be on that good pitch to hit. The pitcher is trying to throw a strike just like you would if you were on the mound, just like your teammates. Good hitters command the plate looking for a strike to drive to the alleys. Great hitters command both sides of the plate and can barrel the ball from line to line. Look for a strike, that puts you in an athletic position and if a pitcher loses command you're now ready to turn the meat of your back or legs towards the pitcher and take the pain. Walk it off and take your free pass.
Building confidence is everything in baseball and, moreover, in life. Thank you for releasing this terrific video with such helpful tips on coaching up more confident hitters and assured young people!
I distinctly remember being nervous to hit from this kid who was throwing 70 at the age of 12 and my brain said you gonna get hit, you go as get hit, your gonna get hit. I told my teammates and they said, “you’ll be fine,” first pitch I ate it in the leg
This is excellent info Clint. I had to explain what a "CD" is to my 10 year old son, but other than that and the random Saved by the Bell clip (again, had to explain that one ... which defies explanation) I think he understood the message.
My 9 year old got hit 2x in one game and probably wouldn’t have if he didn’t back up initially as it would have been behind him. However, it created so much fear now and he’s struggling. Most videos talk about progression of being hit by whiffle balls then tennis balls. I’ve done that but doesn’t work so I’m hoping this resonates with him. He’s good at sports and has great hand eye coordination so it’s tough for me to see him go through this. Thanks for this video.
Ouch! Face? Yikes. Hopefully he is fine. My son is now 11 and he is doing great. I think it took him a season of many at bats to shake his fear. Most kids do some type of back peddle or defensive type of footwork/bodywork if you watch every batter, even the good ones. My son sticks in the box and has been hit once since but not bad and it didn’t cause any issues with him. He’s back in a lead off role this past season and happy he was able to work through it. Lots of cage work with coaches and those he “trusts” work well. I was sneaking in a tennis ball in and threw at him to see his reaction and making sure he turned properly and I would throw the tennis ball for a strike too here and there so he didn’t immediately assume it was coming at him when he caught a glimpse of the green color change. Good luck!
My son is a pitcher and he's having this problem. I sat here and told him ... is your goal as a pitcher to hit the player or to strike them out? Strike them out. Why don't you want to hit a batter? Because it automatically puts a runner on base and a potential for a run to happen. So you do everything in your power to strike out the batter and not hit them. Don't you think other pitchers are thinking the same thing? It was like a lightbulb went off
I used to be the best player in the league a few years ago now I’m 14 and all my friends are bigger than me because they all grew first and I need some tips on not to step out and al I do is step out in BP too when my coach throws hard and I need help
There's really no gimmick that'll work to fix your fear of being hit by a baseball. You have 2 options when you get in the box, think about and look for a good pitch to barrel up and drive or think about and look for a pitch coming at you. Remember the pitcher isn't intentionally trying to throw at your body and is only trying to control the plate. The pitcher is trying to throw a strike so that's what you're looking for. That in itself puts you in an athletic load position. And that also puts you in an athletic position to protect your backside of an errant pitch the pitcher IS NOT trying to throw.
@@NateFromThatOnePlace no problem! It's important to realize that stepping out with the lower half of the body in the batters box is also opening up our upper half where there's a lot more that can be hurt if a pitch at the body happens, the fingers, the wrist, chest, face. We want to be in that athletic position, front shoulder loaded ready to unwind when we see that pitch and if at us it allows us to turn, take the pain and take our base as our teammates cheer for us. Once we master that feeling we can start looking to control the plate inner to outer half and become a deadly hitter pitchers fear. There's nobody that stands in the box, from little league to the pros that doesn't feel a moment of fear when that see that hard ball coming at the body. A glove is worn to protect the body from the baseball and in the box isn't a place we're wearing it so it's natural to feel fear and be in the best athletic position to protect our body. Take care.
I used to he the best hitter on every team I played for and now since the velocities went up a bunch I have been scared to move my hands. This is very helpful and this will make me better. But I just have one question. What if your afraid of getting hit by a bad hop on a ground ball?
Reframe it... a hit means you get on base. Learn to take a hit, and then if you get hit, you don't have to worry about striking out. Getting hit is a good thing. It hurts for a little bit but the pain will go away and you can help your team score. Teach your brain to say "C'mon hit me or I'm gonna hit you. Either way I'm getting on base!"

LETS GO! So glad it's been helpful. I always just heard to throw tennis balls at them and that worked never, haha.
One game I was shit by a fastball in the face and that totally shook me. Going into my first game today with your words in my mind. Thank You!
lol
I can do this. It’s time to get over my fear. Thank you for this. I’ve been a little scared of the ball for years
Same. I almost quit because of this too. I hope (since this was two years ago) that you did ok.
OMG, THANK YOU SO MUCH. This video helped me sooo sooo much. :):):)

I’m 16 and I’ve been afraid of getting hit by the pitch since I was 9. No matter what I do, nothing works. I still don’t know what to do
just do this when you get hit. Focus on the spot of the pain, and repeat the phrase "55515"

you have changed my baseball life
Amazing video
I was the best hitter in my league and I got hit for the first time. But that helps a lot. Thx
Hi I’m seven thank you so much for this video I’ve been always scared of the ball always stepping back and I never hit the ball
Are you doing better this season? Keep working on it, you will improve.
I wasn’t scared last year but I am scared this year I keep backing out of the batters box
I’ve been so on and off. Some years I’m not scared of getting hit at all whereas other years i am
I used to be the best player in the league a few years ago now I’m 14 and all my friends are bigger than me because they all grew first and I need some tips on not to step out and al I do is step out in BP too when my coach throws hard and I need help
Put a bucket wherever your foot is stepping out at and work on getting it closer to a straight line towards the pitcher.

Clint do you offer any in person sessions?
I was doing so good till I took a curveball that got right under my helmet and it's been a solid 6 months since I've wanted to hit
Ever since that pitcher accidentally threw me his fast ball, I’ve been scared to join baseball 🤣
This helped a lot thanks, but really, my real problem is that I get hit EVERY game. Any thoughts on that? (And no, I am not exaggerating.)
im scared to get hit like if i pitch it and they hit and the ball comes right back at me
Just be positive
I used to be a really good player then I got hit in the elbow with 60mph (btw I’m only 10) but I need to get over this stupid fear

I get hit every game it’s annoying
Thank you ❤
