    If they ban tackling because of CTE they should ban alcohol as well thats probably worse than tackling. DUMB.

    Rugby League has been banned due to occupational and workplace health and safety considerations. Brought to you by your local State Government.

    There is no way to "prevent multiple head knocks" during the season, in the first pre season training session you could make 100 tackles.

    This makes me sick and brings me to tears.... I have suspected this for many years... The theory, I believe, is that CTE is a higher chance of developing when the brain is developing as a teenager... I know... I have struggled with a number of issues since playing League... Thank you for this report.

    Oh here we go now. Honestly people need to get over it. If your to soft to play don’t play. Go play tennis.

    • @BUCKJONESIII
      @BUCKJONESIII 3 месяца назад +2

      Soft? Has nothing to do with that. This is about raising awareness about the concerning issues that arise in athletes post career. This is a prevalent issue in the USA with many retired athletes. Junior Seau, Aaron Hernandez, Mike Webster to name a few, unfortunately suffering with severe issues. Unfortunately in Australia, former NQ Cowboys coach Paul Green who committed suicide suffered from the effects of CTE also.
      So no, this has nothing to do with how soft you are. This is a great discovery for medical professionals and sports scientist to be aware about, ensuring the impact of collisions can be minimalised prior to game day. Australian sports are still far behind in regards to athlete welfare compared to what you see in the NFL.

      @@BUCKJONESIII how are we far behind the NFL?
      Does the NFL carry out HIAs and if they show signs of concussion do they prevent them from playing?

    • @BUCKJONESIII
      @BUCKJONESIII 3 месяца назад +1

      @@petershaw6346 It goes further than that mate. Players are immediately removed from games when concussion has occurred or suspected. Extensive scans following the injury and in some cases, forced into retirement. Look at Kalyn Ponga, demonised in the media yesterday for turning down the opportunity to play for Australia thus year. How is that an issue when he has experienced extensive head trauma. There are current NRL players who should be considering early retirement because the effects of CTE are horrendous. Corey Parker, Wally Lewis just to name a couple off the top of my head who have expressed what they are going through publicly.

      As long as people are aware of the risks when they make their decision to play or not then there should be no problem and you shouldn’t have a problem. A 20 y/o kid died and you’re talking about being ‘soft’.

      Absolute crap to you? Sure. Not absolute crap to the athletes who are currently playing. They are now equipped with the knowledge regarding the effects of CTE. Again, this is a prevalent issue in the USA with many retired athletes. Junior Seau, Aaron Hernandez, Mike Webster to name a few, unfortunately suffering with severe issues. Unfortunately in Australia, there is limited study and awareness. Recently, former NQ Cowboys coach Paul Green who committed suicide suffered from the effects of CTE also.

      I'm a 36yr supporter and player who has played mostly in the forwards since 2006. I have two bachelors degrees and most likely have cte. There needs to be better care taken of participants but not at the expense of the game. Work into neuroplasticity and more care and study post playing is needed. I know playing rugby is the one of the few times where I can be truly free and enter so called flow state.
