i haven't tried this but my solution is probably replacing the gun canvas with tamiya epoxy putty or just use some piece of leather

the solution is only if you want to improve the canvas OR you generally want the gun have elevation

    Again an excellent build, John!
I have two questions for you: 1) If you were to build an Elefant, which brand would you recommend as for "the best building experience" (I do not care for the highest detail fidelity), and 2) do you do model building for a living, or do you have another profession?
Anyway, thank you for all your work, detail information and tips and tricks of the trade, and of course for having such a likable personality 🙂Happy Easter my friend.

I would say the old italeri kit builds great if you looking for something out of the box that is a simple fun build. The Tamiya I also heard good things about. Dragon makes a few and I have one or two in the stash but they need new tracks because dragon going to dragon outside of the tracks they should build ok but I’ll know when I get to mine

@@oddball759mm Thanks for your advice. After some deliberation and a thorough search on Scalemates, I think I'll go with the Tamiya kit. Although I'm absolutely no fan of the supplied link-and-lenght tracks, it seems like the best overall choice. And Tamiya also sell a dedicated Zimmerit set for cheap, which is a nice touch 🙂

I think the Tamiya one is workable link if I’m not mistaken. At some point point I’ll find out luckily replacement tracks are not hard to find if worse comes to worse

@@oddball759mm Nope, link&length, not workable. I can see it in the instructions. Same as with the Hummel, which I had in the mail today. The Nashorn has rubber band tracks, whereas the Jagdtiger has both. l&l and rubber band. Tamiya should really get their ducks in a row!
I had a really shitty day at the bench, John. Maybe you can help me out. Today was a PE day, and the CA glue defeated me completely: finger to finger, PE bending tool to finger, tweezers to components... The effing glue stuck to everything but where it should have. I use several brands with different viscosities, and none of them really bring consistent results. Sometimes they work, sometimes they simply won't.
With which brand of CA glue for PE to plastic do you have the best and most consistent experience?

That sucks about the tracks at least aftermarket’s are easy to get and are metal so easy to build. On the glue I use the great planes thick ca that you see mentioned in my vids for just about everything. For the application it the volume and the locations that are the trick. If it’s something small I use a wire or a toothpick for the application of the glue. Depending on the circumstance I also use find thin ca again this is also referenced in the vids and is found on Amazon. This is almost always applied with a wire so I have control over the placement and finite volume. I have also been there done that with the thing sticking to everything else but the model when that happens just stop and get the glue off the tool and the part I use a debonder that is found on Amazon that is awesome as it works great on ca off plastic and metal but doesn’t hurt the styrene of the model. The links are also found on the tutorial vids. I hope this helps and you have better luck moving forward

Great looking model John I have a question do you know if the vms flat clear will go over top of pledge floor care (future) acrylic because I'm having trouble with my tamiya flat clear and want to switch
