Jake’s absence makes this series so much better, Tana and her friends being the central focus is way more entertaining.

@@midnight1051 yeah they've said it was coming but even being subscribed with the bell on this didn't show up in either of my RUclips accounts and I had to tell my 2 friends who were waiting for it about it too. The only reason I found it was because I went to tanas page got disappointed she had no new videos then swiped to the notification posts on her page. So I'm sure if I know 2 people who had no idea it's up but were waiting for it and I missed it checking her RUclips theres a lot more that have no idea its up.

I know... and just to be clear, there are drugs and partying EVERYWHERE when you’re 18-25. That is the wildest time of your life and very hard for addicts bc there’s always someone to “party” with. Problem is, for some people, it isn’t a party.
I cringe every time he says “sober... for right now”. It’s like he’s already planning a relapse. See.... he needs to accept that no matter what you’re going through, no matter how bad and horrible things are...... not everyone deals with it by drinking at 7am (etc). In fact, most don’t. He needs to see that people who do do that, or use drugs alone to cope, etc, cannot drink or do drugs at all because the secret about life is that the bad stuff just keeps getting more serious and worse as you get older. Being an addict has nothing to do with trauma in most cases. Trauma just gives you an excuse.
Think of everyone you know who had a bad year, or who lost parents as a kid or who was assaulted.... or worse.... I bet they aren’t all drunk or on drugs now. My point is addiction is a mental illness akin to OCD (except substances instead of hand washing or whatever) due to a decreased dopamine release. It’s also life or death and not something to play with.
I’m a recovering addict 4 years sober, who went to rehab and tried to get sober from alcohol the first time at 20. Guess when I actually got sober that it’s stuck for years? 29. And by then I was also hooked on opioids. It got worse, not better.
No one likes the “I can never drink or do drugs again” part.... obviously lol... our addict brains are wired to use them... that’s why we say “just for today” at AA and NA.... Because when we think about forever it seems impossible to fight it that long, and we give up. I guess he just seems like a nice kid and I hate to see him struggle in the future. I wouldn’t wish addiction, like the really, really bad part when it totally takes over... on ANYONE. Not even my enemy. It’s that bad.
Like.... of course it would be VERY unlikely to get sober in your early twenties and stay sober, without relapsing even once.... I have never ever once met an addict like that.... but planning to drink once your life is settled like he’s doing... not realizing the only thing that has changed is him not drinking all day and day drinking alone. Like him not drinking is the REASON his life is getting better. Yes and therapy.... but he wouldn’t be going to therapy if he was drinking or using drugs..... he’s happy bc he isn’t using. Period. Everything else is a byproduct of that.
It’s normal and it’s the process every addict goes through, so this isn’t hate.... I’m just worried bc a lot of us don’t make it to the big awakening of realizing we have to devote ourselves to being totally sober. Like.......... don’t make it at all, I mean.

Drats Smithsonian “Sober.. for right now” I don’t see as “planning a relapse” but I see it as not making a committing statement because you never know if a relapse is right around the corner or not. And in my experience when I’ve said I’m clean and I relapse shortly after, I feel embarrassed and ashamed, so I would rather say “clean.. at the moment” or “clean.. for right now” to avoid feelings of failure and shame if the relapse was to happen
Drats Smithsonian Also, trauma and addiction unfortunately usually DO go hand in hand, of course not all cases and there are people who are addicts and have experienced no trauma, however for people who have experienced trauma it is absolutely not an “excuse” but a horrible, dangerous and self destructive coping mechanism.. and “having a bad year” is absolutely not trauma. People who have experienced trauma though and are not addicts, will have some kind of coping method, for addicts with trauma, drugs or alcohol is our coping method (even if it’s not a good method). I don’t agree that addiction is akin to OCD at all.
Ashly's the most chill person in that group, and the only one who seems to be 100% herself and not trying to play for the camera. She just seems actually cool.
