I always thought Alex was home schooled or never went to school, considering she didn't know what Nathan and his friends were talking about when they were talking about school at that party. Also I thought she was home schooled because they always showed flashbacks of her father teaching her things and there aren't any flashbacks of her even remotely hinting that she went to school.
I don't think she went to school at all. Nikolai tried to keep her life as normal as possible but still wanted to isolate and protect her. If she did go to school her education ended at the end of middle school because she was thirteen when her father died.
