4th generation FF here. Dad volunteered for almost 4 decades. When he passed, it was not in the line of duty, but as FF families do, the dept all came out to honor one of their brothers. Trucks all adorned in black banners, his name on the sign and his bunker gear sitting out in front. Seeing his gear sitting there made me lose it hard. I am blessed to have had three relationships with my dad. He was my shipmate (USN), he was a brother FF, and best of all he was my dad. Dont know anyone else that can say the same. Til next time Dad
I hope that every firefighter knows that they are truly the epitomy of a hero. Thank you for your service and sacrifices. This also is for the emergency service people and the ordinary people who step up to the situation where they can help. God bless you all!!
Those who have never gone through something like these imaginary firefighters are portraying cannot know the pain and agony that firefighting families know!! Years ago one of our actual firefighters lost his wife and two babies when his own house burned. They were all buried in the same casket and the ache comes still in remembrance. We also had one of our medics to get hit as he got out of the rescue vehicle and had only a few seconds to say to his father I LOVE YOU. THEY WORKED HIM ALL THE WAY TO OUR TRAMA HOSPITAL TOOK HIM TO SURGERY GAVE HIM COUNTLESS UNITS OF BLOOD AND FLUID ON THE WAY UP TO NEURO ICU BUT TO NO AVAIL. LAST WHEN MY FATHER PASSED AWAY AND THEY DID LAST CALL IT TOOK MY BREATH AWAY. DADDY WAS INDUCTED INTO THE SOUTH CAROLINA STATE FIREMEN'S HALL OF FAME. There is NOTHING THAT CAN TAKE AWAY THIS PAIN OR OUR STATION'S BROTHERHOOD WE WERE AND ARE A FAMILY!!!!!!!
100% I kinda know what it's like, my grandpa was a gun sergeant in the army during the Korean war. He was on a plane, he had to get off for some reason, the people on that plane ended up dead. I didn't even get to meet him, he because he died due to cancer. I'd hear stories from my dad, when I ask. I'm a teenager. I'm learning from my local fire department. I want to be a firefighter ever since I was 5. To let you know something Anthony Ferraris who plays Tony is also a real life firefighter
when I became a fireman my father, who is a former fireman officer, take me a lesson:"we are not God,we cann't save every body, but on thing is right too,we can die on duty".when the alarm ring don't forget that can be yours last time.from France.
