@@francescoscriva1744 : Agreed ! Now I’ll turn 59 in July , but I still enjoy Superfrog , AND 30+ other Amiga500 games. You gotta appreciate how much this game just makes you feel good! Everything has a goofy smile and googly eyes, you get to gather a crapton of colorful fruits and jewelry, there's secrets everywhere, the soundtrack has the happy vibes, the levels are distinct and interesting (circus level??). It's really awesome!
For years I never really cared for platform type games when I had the Amiga A1200, I was into Pinball Dreams but this one was the only one I properly got into and completed it.
Köszönöm a feltöltést. Nagyjából 25 évvel ezelőtt a gyermekeimnek volt Amigája. Nagyon szerettük ezt a játékot. Nagyon jó volt most, ennyi év távlatából végig nézni. Kellemes emlékeket idézett fel!
I used to love this game! :) Definitely one of the Amiga's best games. I've just seen a 1998 PC game called Jack Jackrabbit which reminded me a lot of Superfrog.
You mean Jazz Jackrabbit 2? The first Jazz Jackrabbit was made in PC in 1994 and yes, it does take a play book out of Superfrog, Sonic The Hedgehog and many other arcade platformers out there.
Actually, the whole artistic aspect of Jazz Jackrabbit holds somewhat of a relation with the Amiga. The most notorious example that comes to mind is Andrew Sega (aka Necros), who was into the amiga demoscene musical acts and later did the soundtrack for that game as well as Unreal/Unreal Tournament 99'.
I thought the art style in the intro animation looked familiar, then I looked it up. Eric Schwartz animated it! Makes sense since he did some other Amiga animations on the side back then and I know his art style from ANYWHERE. Pure 90s furry content right there.
it has already happened in 2014 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Windows, OS X, Linux, Android, iOS by Team 17. It has new levels to unlock original levels. it is called Superfrog HD.
The Amiga 500 was one of the first computers to have special graphics-enhancing chips, and even though the Atari ST had the same CPU then games looked worse, see game comparison. ruclips.net/video/yNGXuQKSjhI/видео.html&ab_channel=GuruMediator

I remember this had 7/8 discs with it, lol. I used to sit down in my brothers room, put on that weird Deep Forrest album (idk why) and play this for hours. I can't even remember if I clocked it, lol? Didn't really matter. Bubble Bobble, Superfrog, and Wonderboy were my fav games... And also this one game I can't ever remember the name of where you're like a little dragon and you complete a lvl by getting to the top of a castle/tower? For some reason I always thought it was called Nebula, but I don't think it is?!
Very few European platform games came close to the quality, beauty and playability of the "Super Mario" series!, (Nintendo 8-bit), this was one of them, C64's "Mayheim in Monsterland" was also another one of the same level!
As of 03/2021 I wonder if SuperFrog will also be fortunate to profit being an NFT Art token? James Pond, Manic Miner and the 100s of other Amiga Game characters.
C'est quand qu'il va sortir sur la Nintendo Switch et la PS4 ?? Une merveille pareil mérite un remake et mieux encore, avoir remake ET la version original, tout comme ils ont fais pour le jeu Alex Kidd ! :)
Its a sonic clone but its a good one...the best two games I have ever played on the Amiga500 are Moonstone and Another World... Another World...made completely in vector polygons and with the use of rotoscope techniques by Eric Chahi... is the best game of all time...a masterpiece.
I was bullied badly as a kid, beaten everytime I went out so I didn't, I didn't need to because we had an amiga 500, then a mastersystem, megadrive and a Packard Bell pc 😅😅
I remember people saying it was a sonic copycat. The game is completely different than sonic games. Actually it was really great platformer with excellent graphics and sound for it's time. You better forget about that stupid HD remake nobody needed and play it on Amiga emulator with a gamepad.
I know I'm going against the flow here, but I really don't think this is a particularly good game (yes, I watched to the end). I did own an Amiga as a child but I didn't own this game (I think I tried it once at a friends house), so I don't have nostalgia for it. I will however explain why I feel this way. First of all, I'll start with the positive. From a technical perspective it's brilliant. The graphics are beautiful (though a bit cutesy for my taste) and it is impressive how fast and smoothly it runs. The music, while not to my taste (it sort of reflects the graphics) is technically very good in terms of composition and sound quality. I also like the sense of humour on display in the intro (though I only really saw one instance where that humour was present in game). Now for the negative. The word that kept coming into my head was "squandered". First off, the protagonist is a frog, but that doesn't inform any of the gameplay mechanics. Does he swim? No. Can he jump high? Not particularly as far as computer game characters go. Can he use his tongue in some way? Nope. Okay, forget the frog part, he's super right? Yup. So can he fly? No. Can he at least glide? Um, no but he can sort of flap his cape to slow his falls. Okay, how is that helpful? Well, because you need to collect loads of stuff and he's really hard to control while falling and you'll have to loop back to get the stuff otherwise and because there are spike beds everywhere and half the enemies hurt you if you jump on them. Ah, that doesn't sound like much fun. What other "super" things can he do? Is he strong? No, but he can run really fast! Well that sounds great, I think we're on to something! There's a problem though. What? If you run more than a few feet you'll hit spikes or an enemy. I see. Yeah, this game isn't really suited to fast movement. In fact it hinders you as most of the jumps are more based around precision. Okay, so let me get this straight. He's a frog but he doesn't use any potentially fun frog based mechanics. He's super, but not really, but he can run really fast except he can't or he'll die. Okay, what about level design? Well there are these fun slopes you can slide down. And? There are spikes or an enemy down the bottom of pretty much all of them, so you should probably avoid sliding down the fun slopes. What else? Springs! I'm listening. But there are spikes on a lot of the ceilings and you can't see them until you're in the air, so you'd best remember where they are. How about boss battles? There aren't any. Oh wait! I forgot! There is a fight with the evil witch! And? She's a complete push over. Oh for goodness sake! Is the ending at least satisfying? Um...
Well said. I don't have nostalgia for this game either, as I didn't play it back then. To me, it seems similar to Bubsy. Another humorous Sonic clone where you can run fast but should not. But at least, Superfrog doesn't die in one hit, unlike Bubsy, so there's that.

Holy ___... I haven't seen or thought of this game in about 25 years or something.
This brings back so many memories.
I can still remember the 1st level theme tune after all these years such a great game and soundtrack!
I can still remember passwords to levels 6.1 and 6.4, after about 25 years hahaha
So many memories connected to this game. Would have a beer and play for hours when it first came out.

That music starting at 1:19:49 is so catchy it begs to be in dance remix or sampled in hip hop.

My first and most favourite game on my Amiga 600. Ooohhh...90's. Now I'm 43.
Play new Superfrog HD on PC! Awesome!!!
Was there a CD32 release of this ever? But it is odd there was never a console port, would have been great on the Mega Drive.
A CD32 version exists, but I think it's pretty much identical to the OCS/ECS original. Sadly, a common theme with a lot of CD32 titles.
