If Hasbro wanted to put out figures asap, they should've done it like they did with the Andor stuff: release a bunch of troopers and background guys first to satisfy the hunger for new figures, and then take their time to do the core cast much later, to minimize glaring inaccuracies. Tbh, I was actually looking forward to Baylan and Shin's figures despite not enjoying Ahsoka.

I didn't think the height thing was going to bother me, but it's so glaring, I think you're probably right they must have rushed them into production or something, had everything set to default.
Luckily I had gift cards left over from Christmas so at least the two scrap figures to fix the heights didn't cost me anything :))

Ay. Honestly, if I'd stopped to think about it a bit longer, I would've passed on both of these figures. I think the FOMO got me a bit. Once they arrive I'm going to do the chop method to fix them. IE chop 1cm out of Shin's legs (and glue the legs back together) and add the cm to Baylan's (built up with epoxy and painted). I don't really like the look of the thigh swaps. Annoying that we need to fix the figures ourselves, but may as well make the best of the situation seeing as I have the figures on the way already.
A lot of people have been doing thigh swaps to fix these figures, idk I feel like that's better than straight up cutting the plastic. Let us know how that works out though! -Justin
@@OutOfTheBasement Ended up just doing the thigh swap cos it seemed less hassle in the end. I used Reva on Baylan and Moff Gideon on Shin. Even glued her knee pads onto the Gideon leg parts. Looks good. Well. Good enough.
Yeah I’m with everyone else , I really love these characters,but the figs will not be purchased by me unless discounted and even then may pass on that shin(oof!). I appreciate the effort to get em out quick, but hopefully that’s a lesson learned for some complainers.

Buy the figure and go online and get someone to 3d print you a head that's my plan for shin hati.
You can also us the thigh piece off Baylan for Shin to shortener her. Did the malgus swap for Baylon and didnt have anything for shin until i got to looking at the difference. Worked pretty well

Some people were complaining about the lack of Ahsoka figures after that January stream. This is why I was glad there were none. Let's be honest, we shouldn't really be seeing Ahsoka figures until early 2025 if we want them to be accurate.
I feel so stupid, but I'm probably still going to buy these figures. Loved the characters, and there's a chance we don't get any more versions of them. I feel like Ray's passing makes it easy for them to leave his story alone (didn't his plan seem WAY too big for a subplot of a TV show?). It would be nice to see Shin again, but we might not. She could have left Perida, but she chose to stay there with those bandits. If Season 2 begins with Ahsoka bringing Sabine home through the world between worlds (and I really hope season 2 is not just the reverse of season 1 where they spend it all trying to get home), Shin might be done.
Yep that's exactly why we're getting characters like Thrawn waaaaay after the series aired. And I absolutely support that. I'd much rather wait and get accurate figures. I don't need to be playing with the toys as I'm watching the show, I don't get that mentality at all. We're adult collectors here! -Justin
Tough medium for newer media figures. They want to pump them out, but then there are inaccuracies. That's why I am glad we are getting things like the Droideka now and not 8-9 years ago. Detail, articulation, and engineering have all been amazing this past year and a half, the figure would've been subpar. That's why I am also glad we are getting upgrades for so many older figures that needed them (like Jedi Luke).

True, it’s definitely a double edged sword. I just wish we could convince the bathtubbers they don’t need the figgies right away. I think the endless complaining kills me more than the actual figures lol. But you are right I’m so glad it took them this long to make SBD and Droideka. @@OutOfTheBasement For sure! I saw these revealed and had no major issues; I knew I would pick them up. Even the height thing didn't stop me. Should we have to correct the figures? No, but my expectations are also that not every figure will be a banger. This is still manufacturing and business. There are going to be QC issues. There will be miscommunications on heights, colors, accessories, names, etc. Expecting perfection with everything is unrealistic.
100% agreed. It’s kinda crazy how much people expect out of a domestic $25 toy line.

I'll probably get these figures eventually. I'm going to wait for a sale or clearance. I'm not going to pay full price for "defective" figures and I'll never fix them, I'm not great at taking figures apart and combining them. I've tried in the past but I'm not good at it.

Great to see no punches pulled. Seen a few too many "just buy 2 more figures and thigh swap, problem solved nbd," but even before we knew about height, I was not feeling the likenesses, Baylan's weird patina, long saber, and no cloaks.
Imagine if Marvel Legends made MCU Iron Man and Spider-Man, gave them the same "guy with brown hair" selfie series head that looks like nobody, splashed orange paint all over Iron Man, gave Spider-Man a comically short web line, no masked heads because you don't need the full costume, oh and by the way they're both exactly 6" tall... and then radio silence about it. That would still be better because you know those characters will be redone within a year.
I can't think of other figures that have tanked my confidence in a line doing right for the fans as much as these two. I really wish they'd pulled production and delayed to get them more accurate, knowing that this is probably it for these characters.
Nothing against ppl who still bit or went for thigh swaps - I get it, I really wanted these two but just can't stomach on principle paying company more money to mod away issues that company should be accountable for fixing. Here's hoping for SHF or Mafex to spot the gap, swoop in, and clean up the mess, but highly doubt it. Just toys, but man it stinks when they're usually so good to have no accountability or course correction for these two.

An honest review. I only got the Balon figure. It is very disappointing mainly because he is so small. I don't understand the rush,they got Marak, correct. Also, it is very disrespectful to Ray's memory.

@@OutOfTheBasement I really didn’t think either one of them were very good. And I will give. Baylan kudos for some nice articulation. But your spot on on Shin, I feel like that figure was only half painted.
The issues with these two are glaring and unfortunate; but I am glad to have the character representations on my shelf alongside Marrok, HK-87 and Elsbeth.

Good review. I found both of these figures at Walmart but left them on the pegs. I just didn't think they were worth the full retail price. I may pick them up if they go on sale or clearance.

I am still baffled by this pair, how could the sculpting team not figure out that they messed up the heights? I am just thankful that this two being so bad that helped me save some money (only pre ordered the Starkiller from this wave), since I don't think we should have to use Reva and Vel Sartha as fodder figures to fix this glaring issue.

Yeah this was a bittersweet purchase when I finally found them. The big score win from that haul was the Black Widow Winter Soldier re-issue I found at the same store.
When you guys go through your mods, can you do a video showing what you're doing? I have seen some posts on Reddit and I have heard using Reva's legs on Baylon but yeah... a video would be educational

I'm conflicted because I really want to do thigh swaps for both, and having them be the right height would be nice, BUT now their skirts will be either too short for Baylan and too long for Shin. Looking forward to seeing your updates on these!

100% agree with the review I also have both figures they are such a disappointment it's like Hasbro just didn't care with these figures. Either that or Disney pressured them to rush them out even going back to The Book Of Boba Fett figures Fenic and Boba Fett those two at least were scaled right and look the way they should in height.

To add insult to injury, both of mine came with red lightsaber blades from Pulse. And I can’t find orange bladed figures in retail stores anywhere. I suspect I’ll end up parking both of these characters on the back of my Ahsoka shelf with their hilts clipped on their hips…🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️

I’m gonna pick up Baylan because he was easily my favorite character from Ahsoka (RIP Ray Stevenson) but I was wondering, whoever may see this, is there a way to harden the plastic on his lightsaber hilt? I would like to pose him in his Form V starting stance, and that style will warp the saber if I do it with that soft of a plastic.

It's always about budget when it comes to Hasbro. And then they pump out the prices as if the figures are worth that many bucks.

Yeah Shin Hati should be slightly taller than Sabine. The sane could be said of figures of Ahsoka and Sabine. They should be same height. I think Sabine is a tad too short.

I really would love these two but I’m focusing on episodes 1-6. These are very toyetic, I think Shin is the better fig, even tho the face isn’t great, she could be theoretically wearing boots but Baylon can’t really get around that under sized issue.

There’s no excuse for such a mess. Following Ray Stevenson’s passing, there was an amazing opportunity to give that character the affordable release that could at least look decent.
And Ivanna Sakhno has quite a distinctive portrait and they… “Barbie’fied” the heck out of her here. Remove the reddish-orange lightsaber and you almost think she could have been a survivor of the Purge. Her eyes are the most egregious, especially when put next to the box. For all the effort they tried to put on Mando Ahsoka in 2022, this is a step down.
It’s officially a TBS Blunder. When put next to Count Dooku, it’s hard to believe they’re from the same brand or line.

Honestly, given the passing of Ray, the keast they can do is do an updated run, but that would be a bit of a PR minefield for them having just taken people's money already, it would be a bit of a lose-lose situation. I may pick this up second hand or on sale, but I may just wait and see if SHF or Mafex do them both. By the time you factor in the custom changes, even new painted heads, the price difference isnt much really, and no extra effort. IF they do them, of course.

Apart from them both being totally the wrong height; Baylan doesn't look bulky enough. He looked powerful in the show. I do think his head is a better sculpt than Shin's. Maybe it's the decco that's letting her down.
Shin's lack of paint is glaring.
They'd both have to be super discounted for me ke to buy them. Even then I'd repaint them and have em as custom characters. Not sure what I'd do about his over long blade.

I now officially have every single figure (apart from that barstard expensive foily Luke X-Wing 😢) from the OT that was ever stuck on a limp piece of kenner inspired card-y-board! ANH, ESB, ROTJ 40TH'S, POTF2, 50TH ANNIVERSARY and foily-foil Foba-Bett, and some cuz-Tom Greedo's I made up for good measure. My off the cuff guess is these bad boys now need approximately 60 square feet of wallspace to display!! Considering my Hiss Tank still sits in the corner of the kitchen, 2 months after being opened and has nowhere to go, then Gentle-manns, I may have a problem!! 😅 Goooooo No Space!!

I've spent hours over a couple of weeks mentally moving stuff, physically measuring, and trying to calculate solutions. One thing I do excel at, is fitting large amounts of stuff into small spaces, but no matter how I worked it, nothing clicked... However, I do think I've finally come up with an entire plan for everything a couple of hours ago. The downside is I can see it taking tens and tens of hours to do...😢
I don’t think they’re as bad as all that. The likenesses could be better and the size thing is insane. But they’re alright. Especially the armor and costume sculpts.
And softgoods are deluxe now. They already come with a lightsaber, man. 😂 You want TWO accessories?

It was a fair review, its how we keep hasbro consistent with their products, being honest.
They kind of grew on me tbh. At first I thought they were horrible, but after fiddling around with them I think they’re pretty good. Not on par with other newer black series figures, but still good.
I think once I do the leg swap I will be pretty happy with them. I like the articulation on Baylon and having a new saber blade has already helped out. Thanks for watching! -Nate
@@OutOfTheBasement I was able to do the leg swap for both and they are way better than before. The only thing that does bother me a little is probably Baylan’s super long blade.
I love the videos and reviews, as always. One thing I have to chime in about though.
It’s a black series figure. At a $30 ish price point, it’s way above average!
Sure there have been much better entries (Morgan Elzbeth) but my only complaint lies with the height differences.

I would totally disagree as pretty much every other Black Series figure in mainline at the $24.99 price are better than these two. These are outliers in an otherwise pretty consistent line for mainline Black Series. -Justin

Such a glaring error, really feels like the SW team half asses a lot of things.
There are still plenty of excellent things coming. I think these two are pretty heavy outliers compared to the rest of mainline Black Series. -Justin
Agreed for sure I should have included they have also knocked several recent releases out of the park, new R2, Glavis RW Mando, etc. Bonus if anyone has the robe from SH Figuarts Kylo Ren it works great with Baylon as he really should have come with a robe! @@OutOfTheBasement

Disney is making shxt SW shows… OK, I could convince myself that at least Disney created some characters who we are interested in collecting. But lord Hasbro is such a good teammate to screw up something somehow. I really don’t know what they want… They want to make money from the show or from toys? It seems Disney and Hasbro just waste investors’ money and piss off customers. The only one positive point of view is these defect figures give RUclipsrs more clicks and views because we are fxxking skeptical about everything they release…

Rumor has it that Hasbro is getting close to filing Bankruptcy 😂😂😂 you know what that means they will sell their IP and stop ✋ making crappy figures no one wants and now I can get some battle diodes on the cheap and star killer for pennies on a dollar hopefully this Rumour is true and the way Disney is failing I kind of believe it 😂😂😂😂😂😂
They just released their earnings report and revenue declined 15% last year, while that’s not great news it’s certainly not bankruptcy status lmao. Don’t hold your breath too long on Starkiller.
