Freyja is a Niagara Dog Rescue Alumni . She was found in Texas & brought to Canada & my son was the one lucky enough to adopt her. We cannot recommend rescuing enough, it is always worth it & yes, mixed breeds are the best ❤Please adopt and rescue !!
We've had family friends with a dog who loved skunks so much they just gave up and bought an outdoor all-weather doghouse. Every spraying event, they'd make sure there was no eye damage, and let the dog just be happy with its cat-shaped wilderness friends.
Yup, I'm currently fostering a 60-lb uber-mutt - long, tall coonhound-ish body but with the fluffiest tail, white all over with 2 or 3 big brown patches and brown ears - and he's the best-behaved dog out of the 20+ I've fostered. He's ultra-friendly yet gentle with people, reads cues instantly from other dogs' body language, and ignores reactivity from anyone (dogs or people). I've never been so popular with my neighbours 🤣 Panicking pugs, aggressive Akitas, hysterical huskies, none of them faze him!
Her owners have a real gem: she's gorgeous, friendly, compliant, she actually asked you for a manicure, she took the treats as if your hands were the most delicate thing in the world, and she drools in such joy at getting that treat.
I wonder if she's picky about where she eats. Our old dog, Gracie, was insistent about always eating treats over carpet specifically, and we never knew why. If you gave her a milkbone during an errand, she'd carry it in her mouth or on the car seat beside her the rest of the way home, regardless of how long it was, and bring it in to eat in the living room. She'd literally go back and forth with mouthfuls of dry food to eat over the carpet (thankfully was not a messy eater) until about half the bowl was gone, at which point she'd finally stand by the bowl to eat. We were never able to figure out why, and had to resort to putting down a dishtowel for her at an uncle's house when they tried to offer her treats (their house had all hardwood floors, so Gracie kept getting robbed by their dogs bc she kept circling around looking for non-existent carpet)
I cried seeing this video. She looks exactly like my dog we had to put down 4 years ago. She had brain cancer. We had her lovely self in our lives for 19 years.
thats incredibly long, especially if she was a bigger dog. i bet she had a great life. i am so sorry for your loss, however; my dog of 16 years passed last year and its still hard to think about.
First Dog I have EVER seen that actually (all by themselves, without being asked) kept moving their legs and paws to assist you and make things easier for you. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I wanted to watch this lovely pup so much longer than 4:50! Those have to be the cutest grinch paws ever. I didn't want you to trim them, even though I'm guessing it's necessary. And I've clearly been watching too many of these, because now whenever I clip my own nails, I have an inner "good girl!" voice that praises each clip.
Omg your comment made me want to tear up, my dog Sienna was literally born in our house and much later when my siblings adopted 2 rescues, I realized there was a huge difference in the way my Sienna was compared to her cousins, she wasn’t afraid of anyone even the strangest of strangers, and would constantly try to give people her paw. She really just lived her best life 🥺
She is quite the mix! My grandparents had a German shepherd/keeshond/pitbull mix who also had a run in with a skunk. She got sprayed right in her mouth and her breath stunk for months.
Ouch, poor pup! My parents had a German Shepherd/Old English Sheepdog mix that went through the same, right at their backdoor, and right when my mother was going through her only morning sickness. Both my mother and their dog were very unhappy, but my father came to the rescue and bathed their dog while my mother went to a less smelly area and rested.
Wow, she sounds like quite the mix of breeds! I can’t imagine how bad that skunk spray must have been, especially getting it right in the mouth. That’s a tough situation, and I bet her breath wasn’t easy to be around for a while. It’s amazing how resilient dogs can be, though-even after run-ins like that, they just keep going strong! 🐾
Freya is beautiful and adorable! 😍😍😍Continuously offering her paw like that, such a sweetheart and the bestest girl!! Thanks so much for sharing her with us Vanessa!! ✂🐾🐶💖✨
What a precious potato poof! 🥰 Thanks for the de-skunk formula, too! Our Floofs (sibling Pyrenees) sometimes like to mess with skunks that wander up to the fence line and end up with Doggy Axe, especially our boy, of course. We have five acres fenced in, two sides to the woods, so there's no way for us to know, especially when they're guarding at night, what's happened until it's well done. I've written the formula on a post-it and stuck it on our noticeboard!
I love it when they wanna hold hands, it's so stinkin (haha) cute. One of my cats lays on me in bed every night and reaches out with one paw to hold my hand; he can stay like that for close to an hour at a time, sometimes. (It's also how he picked me at the shelter, I was walking by his cage and he reached a paw out to hook my hand ever so gently-- it was love at first sight.)
This is the gentlest and kindest dog I have ever seen! She even holds her little paw up when she understands her claws will be clipped… A beautiful gentle friend. ♥️
Great job - such a good girl!! I adopted an older lab/gr/chow chow mix. She is very mellow like Freyja and has very similiar mannerisms & body language. I was worried she was depressed but after seeing Freyja its great to know it's just her laid back chow chow attitude!
Another good grooming Vanessa! Love both of your YT channels, Girl With The Dogs, and Girl With The Dogs 2! (You are blessed with a good business sense.) 👍 The pets & owners that receive free grooming from you are very fortunate for the wonderful work you perform. 👸🐕🐈❤
Freya has the most beautiful manners.Good work owners! Poor baby, we don't have skunks in the UK (thank goodness). The nearest thing would be rolling in fox poo!! Thank you Vanessa.
Her raising her paw got me! It shows me a lot of mixed breed dogs have excellent temperaments. My next dog maybe from a humane society Renember you do not choos a dog or color of a breed. They choose you and you just no. I remember wanting to get a Yellow lab, but a Black one followed us around with so much affection. We just knew.
Oh my gosh!!! I watch these videos all the time and happened to click on this one to see this cute face - this dog is the same mix as my rescue!! He is the sweetest potato I've ever met and he acts very similar to the wonderful Freya!! We adopted him when he was eight years old and it has been the absolute most amazing two years with him so far! I've never seen another dog with the same Grinch toes, racing leg hairs and white chest as my potato fluff ball. I had so much fun watching this! My partner and I were grinning ear to ear the whole time!
MISTAKES WERE MADE
NOT white vinegar, it's hydrogen peroxide 🤦♀️🤦♀️
Oh my goodness! Thanks for catching it! Can you please edit the video itself too? Maybe add in a visual disclaimer or some such for future viewers?
Your dedication to these dogs, cats & other animals is beyond admirable!!
@@markjerue9734 they'd have to reupload the entire video, youtube sucks like that
@markjerue9734 omg, if your dog meet skunk, you don't need to watch video for instructions
@@topasu9454 Yes. RUclips is bad for that.
Huskies: Don't touch my paws!!
Freya: I'd like a pedicure, but please be gentle.
That's the pittie mix behavior for sure 😅 very calm but scared

Freyja is gorgeous. May you have a wonderful happy long life together❤
Agree! Mixed breed are the best!
Great for you! She is so gorgeous 🥰 and gentle.
Despite my first comment, it is clear that Freyja is a lovely dog and I'm very glad indeed that it has all worked out well.
She’s is such a lovely dog and very well socialized and friendly. May she bless your home for many years to come.
Her face says "please forgive me, I know I stink" LOL

True lol
Proof positive that sometimes the best breed is no breed at all. What a wonderful, beautiful mutt.

A real trooper. Wonderful dog.
The gentlest and most adorable customer in a while. What a beautiful and well-behaved dog.
I can tell she's a sweetie! She's also hilarious keeping the treat in her mouth like a squirrel. 😂

I’m so sorry😢 Growing up we had a dog our family found on the beach. We had her for 19 years, too! 💔
You can tell she had a good life by her wanting to stay with you so long

Mutts live longer than full breeds generally.
All hail the traveller.
Friendly and fluffy! I love when dogs where taught "gimme paw" and by DOG they're going to show you they know this trick.
First Dog I have EVER seen that actually (all by themselves, without being asked) kept moving their legs and paws to assist you and make things easier for you. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Being named after the Norse goddess of love and beauty (among many things) she sure is living up to her name with dedication.
Freyja is also the goddess of war and she's definitely a very brave girl
Agreed all around
@@hiwaga7399 I mean, this is Norse mythology - they were all, to some degree, gods/godesses of war.
The Norse Gods were great multitaskers or the Norse people had very limited imagination.
