Good to hear! 👏🏼 phantom braking usually happens when I’m in the middle of nowhere and it’s sunset/sunrise. Something about long shadows and those mirage-like hazy areas above really hot steamy pavement lol
One thing I forgot to mention in the video is the Y has a rly bad turn radius. It's kind of a pain in the azz to park sometimes, esp in tight parking lots 🥲
Yeah MYP turning radius is not that great at all. Especially since I have the 21 inch wheels with the rims which stick out causing me to turn wide around curbs in parking lots.
We are looking at a model y to replace our car. I didn’t think the turn radius was too bad. Although I mainly drive our truck, with a trailer on it, so it has a much better turn radius than what I’m used to.
🚘I’m a heavy guy and that plastic trim on the front of the drivers seat came apart at the seams. It took three trips to the dealer to get it fixed correctly. Initially they ordered a couple pieces, but a fastener lip on the trim had cracked. They half assed it together and handed the vehicle back. I got home and the trim came apart again. After calling them, they agreed to do the job correctly and ordered a complete replacement trim. I had the impression this assembly was from the assembly factory parts supply. Well, now it is correctly repaired. Back to the good vibes.🚗
A great evenhanded review. I liked that it wasnt just fawning and ignoring all flaws, but also not overly fixated on issues that you're ignoring the awesome parts. I got a 2023 model y late december and so far I like it. Autopilot does kinda suck though
I live in Texas. I've had my model 3 through two summers now. Only tinted side windows. Just cool car 5 min or so before leaving work good to go. No desire to tint the glass roof.
The heat isn’t too bad for short trips but it’s excruciating for long road trips thru the south 🥵 I got a sun shade for the roof and it makes the heat much more bearable, in addition to the tinting the side windows + windshield
That black trim will likely "glitter" from the sun...Toyota had the same issue on the Prius. Keep in mind the prius was a "elite" purchase when it first came out and alot of the car's finishes were janky then as well. Honestly this has always been a $35 - $55k car and is only now getting to where it should have been.
Hmmm if you plan on driving it for a few more years and you have the $, it might be worth it. Mine has been out of warranty for almost a year tho, and it seems to be ok (knock on wood)
Glad you dug it! I was going to wash the car and make it look shiny, but I wanted to show a more realistic perspective of what the car is really like on the day to day. Thanks for watching!
Yeah! I use 2 fingers to spread the air around. It helps a bit, but it’s still kinda annoying how much air gets blocked by the steering wheel. Esp in TX heat
Tesla does not try and go for a "luxury car" standard. Tesla's are considered Premium vehicles. I in no way expected luxury vehicle materials in the car at purchase. It does however meat my expectations for premium materials. Although, I would like to see some improvements to the vegan leather.
I wish they had a solid roof to keep heat out with an actual sunroof to allow sun and air in when you want it. I live in Arizona. There are a lot of Teslas here but for me this is probably a show stopper.
Thanks. So if I’m looking for great tech with cheap plastic, faux leather, poor build quality, limited range, battery woes, high sticker prices and fire risk, then Tesla is the way to go?
Thanks for your comments on the useless, disgusting and utterly idiotic full glass roofs. I would not want that POS even if I lived in Iceland. But in a hot climate - it is an absolute nightmare. All that full glass roof ACTUALLY does is: 1. Increasing car cost for no reason ( wasn't Tesla all about EV adoption, huh? ) 2. Increasing insurance cost ( yes, they DO break and then are at least 3000 USD to replace, so that is reflected in insurance, of course) 3. Allowing A LOT more heat into the cabin - leading to decreased efficiency AND decreased range, as you are forced into running A/C more 4. Increasing car weight 5. Decreasing head space ( yeah, you can pretend that it does not but its only because there is no shade - which will be A MUST in hot climate, most users install them to block the sun, at additional cost and loss of head space) God I wish there was an universal LAW forcing all manufacturers to offer any glass roofs as a PAID FOR OPTION only, so that only idiots highly susceptible to stupid marketing crap could option them in. "Ooooh, my glass roof allows so much more light!" Yeah, right. You are sitting in a tiny box with windows ALL around you, how much more bloody light could you possibly want.
My boy mad mad lol I love the glass roof and I live in Vegas 120 degrees this month a lot. Still worth and eventually will get shade so it ain’t that serious
I'm getting excited !! 🎉🎉 As soon as Highland performance comes out in Phoenix I'm ordering it. Stealth Grey dark interior. It's so close I can taste it 😁😁 my first EV 😎👍🏻

As a MYP 22 owner your review is pretty much spot on. I have never had any phantom braking though. I love autopilot and my Y too!

The turning is pretty terrible…going from my iD4 back to the Y is super noticeable. Great video! Good to see you again
@FredCallahan thanks! Yeah the iD4 completely destroys the Y in terms of turn radius
Yeah MYP turning radius is not that great at all. Especially since I have the 21 inch wheels with the rims which stick out causing me to turn wide around curbs in parking lots.

Geez, 3 fix attempts? lol that's wild. Yeah the plastic driver control panel is one of the most obviously dysfunctional design flaws on Teslas imo

Yeah it does 😵💫 it’s awesome when it works, but when it doesn’t……oof
Tesla doesn’t say luxury. Premium is the term. But model 3 highland is better materials. Hopefully model Y will get that same thing.
Tesla doesn’t deliver luxury, but they charge for it. 😂😂😂
Project Juniper
🙏🏼
There are rumors of a Model Y refresh in the works. When it will come, who knows.
@JetFire9 you're really paying for the technology, which is far beyond anything else on the road.
When on autopilot, keep foot on accelerator so you can react if needed. Especially if someone is right behind you.
Yeah I always do that! Good tip
So relaxing to be constantly on guard waiting for the next surprise phantom braking! How did we ever drive without it??

I have a 2020 Model Y with 49,850. I am on the fence with buying the $2000 extended warranty. What are your thoughts?
Hmmm if you plan on driving it for a few more years and you have the $, it might be worth it. Mine has been out of warranty for almost a year tho, and it seems to be ok (knock on wood)
Very honest review, thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the review! What microphone are you using? I see clipped it to your seatbelt as you start driving. It sounds good and has a clean look
@@nick.hysees thanks! I’m using the DJI Mic 2 👌🏼 it sounds so good!
@@b3naqua thank you!
You never said what your "range" is at 100% now? Did the battery degrade at all?
it's at about 300 miles at 100% charge
If screen is off, can also start the car via the app. Even with pin to drive.
Will try
The frunk is great to hold emergency items and tire repair. And windshield washer squeegee.

Thank you for showing this. I like that it’s real and used

Double tap the vent on the display so that it splits the air around the steering wheel.

Please share the cost of insurance vs a different compact SUV like RAV 4 or CRV.
I don’t remember exact numbers but I had a RAV4 hybrid before the Tesla and I think monthly premiums went up by like $30-50
What about the range/efficiency?
It’s in the video
This is a critique tip ..... please get your car cleaned up when you do a review brah ..😂😂 good review none the less .
lmao ikr my car filthy oops
How does it cost for charging?
Awesome Vid!! You’ve inspired me, now I need to make my 2 year review. 🚗
Yesss do it! I’m really curious to hear what your thoughts are too. Also how has it been 2 years already 🙃
@@b3naqua dude. Time is going by so fast. It’s scary.
it really is 🥲@@FredCallahan yoloooo
Good review of positives & negs, and good video too. Wish I could do a sunroof delete and put the money into a less bumpy ride
Agreed 👏🏼
unplugged performance suspension kit
get the shade curtain and roof shade for the sun, its a big difference!
Will research that, thanks!
Thank you! This was so helpful!🎉
Glad it helped you out! Thanks for watching and commenting 👏🏼
I wish the panel gaps on my 2020 looked as good as yours.
Dang is yours pretty bad?
enjoyed. thanks.

Nice video.....
thank you!
Just get a sun shade. Tesla sells them and so do 3rd party vendors.
Yup I got one! Both the Tesla one and a 3rd party one

yes lol
I’ve had a really bad experience with Tesla drivers. They’re always driving really aggressive and fast like they’re just about to run out of charge
yeah Teslas can drive faaaast lol
