Sadly this game is not in really good state despite the developers being really invested in it, its just a studio of 40 people in southern Italy, they asked famous italian souls creators for advice, I hope in the final stages this game can turn out to be good (its their 1st) the love and art they put behind is remarkable
it just seems very generic & a lot of the combat feels & looks of out of place. probably not paying for the full release unless there's an overhaul to combat
I love the fact that Charlie was able to figure out the parrying is proximity based, but not that you're able to PARRY THOSE RED ORBS. And y'all who were there during the stream did him so dirty, there was at least one of you there who knew about that and never told him lol

If they fix the parry , as in it accumulates at 10x the current rate I’d be much happier with this game. Landing 177 perfect parries to do 8hp worth of damage isn’t fun

I like Dark Souls but I'm kind of tired of these games trying to emulate it's worldbuilding by just throwing cryptic random names onto every character/boss/item/system. It just makes them all blend into a generic soulslike soup. IMO more games should be like Lies of P which is instantly recognizable as the "pinocchio soulslike", it has an unique story that's not just hidden behind item descriptions and stands out right away.

I used to love souls likes, but they've gotten so stale from me because they all just try to copy the Dark Souls style with nothing new. Every souls game has been "R1 -> R1 -> Dodge until it's safe -> R1 spam some more" and it's really just boring me. I like games like Stellar Blade (unironically...the boobs/jiggle physics are just a dumb bonus) where the combat has combos and abilities you can use and they're all situational rather than taking out every single boss and enemy by back stabbing/parrying/R1 spamming it.

TheIronPineapple is a youtuber who goes through 100s of games that are unknown but are considered "Souls Likes" and I believe there's 3 but I just remember the one that's first person that looked kind of fun.
Is there any other genre where most of the games suck? Both Niohs and Lies of P seem very good but other than FromSoftware titles, the rest just don't hold up to scrutiny for the most part.

I didn’t feel like the parry timing was forgiving at all…maybe i didn’t get used to it but Lies of P felt easier to parry in.

Soulslike is such a difficult genre to get right.. sadly most developers dont understand what makes a good soulslike. These often lack polish aswell.
