I didn't give this album a fair chance at first, I judged it prematurely. Overkill still have some tricks up their sleeves. They do try a few new things to keep it interesting. Check out Bag O' Bones- almost like a cross between nu-metal and funk. Very catchy, I found the chorus stuck in my head for hours!
Y’know….as long as Blitz & D.D. want this train ta keep rollin’….I support (with my $$$). Just finished new album. Worth it! Then I put in ‘97’s “From the Underground & Below” and the production, songs, energy are superior!….sorry Godlike Colin Richardson. Overkill is too polished now. I know they are OLD. Nothing but praise, here. Glad they have a 20 album discography to hear during the drinkin’ dayz!
You don't really listen to thrash to broaden your tastes really you know what you're getting. Actually my 3 styles are hair metal thrash and power metal and all 3 I know what I am getting and I love it lol. I just did an overkill ranking and it's hard lol 😆 they do sounds all similar but I love their consistency you can't argue with that.
Yeah it's very much a double edged sword. Like I said, I've got a lot of respect for Bobby Blitz and the boys but I just am kind of mentally exhausted when it comes to most thrash metal and a lot of heavier genres in general right now with the exception of really extreme sub-genres. I appreciate your input! Thanks for watching!
@@OnTheFlipSideShow I get what you mean it's consistent and tbey sound amazing still in their 60s but it all kinda runs together after a while. That's why I had kept changing my ranking and it's still not really set in stone aside from top 3 or 4 lol and same ol stuff it could get tiring after a while. No problem. Always cool to see what people have to say about my fav bands besides me rambling on lol 😆
It's a killer record! Maybe not one of their best, but still very solid (and better than the Metallica album.) But I see where you're coming from in terms of stagnation of the genre. I don't think it's entirely true. You just need to look at more of the younger bands who all have their distinct styles. But that's just my opinion, and I still respect yours.
I absolutely appreciate your input. None of the points I made have come from any place of hate and I'm glad you can see my point as I see yours. Thanks for watching!
You are so far off the mark as far as thrash metal heavy metal and rock being on the downswing. There are many new thrash bands out there like Angelus Apatrida that will keep the genre in metal rolling for years

Yeah it seems like a pretty common issue across the board.
Check out Angelus Apatrida...they have riffs I've never heard before
New album is killer.
Looking forward to picking up the new Overkill. Saw them live on The Wings Of War tour. Love seeing DRI behind you.
Yes all overkill has a solid lead off track that are very similar most of the time same style too
There's something to be said about consistency that's for sure.

These days I can hardly go through a whole thrash record myself but I'm blaming it more on my aging not on the genre itself
Hey that's fair

Also I loved Scorched, Going Home, and The Surgeon.

I'd love to agree with you so I'll check that band out. If you have any other suggestions please drop em here!
