MY 1ST time flying a Bonanza in years. 50 knots faster than what I have spent the last 1.5 years in. There is so much online training and books to learn to fly this plane vs the old Sierra. So, thankful to be in Dallas with a lot more knowledgeable people and group of men to run around with. If you have a BO how long did it take you to get up to speed?
He seems like a young cool guy that isn't a dick or cocky. One of the guys you could fly with and actually learn and enjoy with! My Sierra needs a full overhaul now because a crank wasn't installed 12 years ago to comply with the AD, mechanics kept passing it up saying it was fine. Keep flying buddy, I love this fast plane!
That engine on this one was an adventure as we probably put 80k in it. Start to finish. Ready get a 3rd person in here to get the cost down and the fun up.
Thanks for sharing. We've all had these "days" where you feel behind and it takes everything to keep your brain from melting down your neck. Keep at it. She's an awesome bird. ...From the T-town Charlie to your north.
I'm excited to get my learning moving. DFW is blessed with a lot of CFI and people. My move to the Addison airport has been great with a lot of knowledgable people.
If you want to put on some more “break-in” hours, fly on up to Tulsa for our annual fly-in this Saturday at Skiatook airport…2F6. We’d love to have you and see the Bonanza!
It’s a lot to take in but you’ll get it. Bonanzas are a joy to fly, but you have to fly them. Like your instructor was saying, get a nice flow going, checklist is there just to verify, not a do list. Once you get the sight picture you’ll be greasing them on every time. The Bo can handle a crosswind way better than any Piper!
Keep up the amazing work in flying your V-35 and now with the IO-550 engine your aircraft will be more powerful than before and always stay a 100 ahead of your aircraft at all times.
Such a nice airplane! How many hours do you need to run for the break in? Also, are you running a different kind of oil in it for the breakin. So awesome!
20 ish hours. You run the engine hot. The oil is different but don’t make me lie to you as I listened to the guys talk but don’t remember. I’m blessed with a good bunch guys and co owner. Planning on making some long trips to finish it up. One of them to the balloon festival in NM in October
So, is an IFR flight on the second flight after a new engine a great idea? Especially when you're clearly in the learning phase. I recognize at some point you have to trust the plane.
I am blessed with a lot of higher time CFI and co-pilots in my journey back from being rusty to current. There was a broke layer to go through, so not solid ifr.
