Way back in 1984 to get fit for Basic Training (Bootcamp) this is what I did. Morning workouts that consisted of ... I ran 3 miles with 5 pound dumbbells in my hands every other day. Then On the alternate days I worked up to 3 x 50 pushups, 3 x 10 pullups and 3 x 50 situps. I also did full contact martial arts 3 evenings per week for 2 hours. During the day I worked. I found that this had me more then prepared for basic (at least for the physical part). I would take no more than one day off per week. The mental was another story...Good luck.
Let me tell y’all!!! I tried plenty of army RUclips workouts and this one is by far the best one when I tried it today. Definitely sticking to this from now on till I ship on may 26th. Ben Allen thanks for the help🙏
Man I’m out of shape, and I’ve always wanted to join the army or marines. I’ve got two years of high school left and I think I want to join up shortly after I get out of high school, I’m 6’ 3 and I think around 235lbs and I’m 15 as of writing this. I hope that for 2022 I can try to loose weight and set a workout schedule because I have trouble sticking to workout schedules.
How’s it going man? I’m started to get in shape to join myself. I’m a little late but it’s what I want to do. But I have longer road ahead of me. I’m 5’9” and 265
Tips and technique on pull ups will b a great help cause I've never been good at em. Thx for the info on this video will keep them in mind especially if I join and I've considered
Quit sugar, soda, juice, candy, fast food. Start eating single ingredient foods. Rice chicken vegetables. Egg whites, turkey bacon. Rice cakes instead of bread. Greek yogurt, and lots of water. Fruits to snack on. For those that have a higher fat body percentage above 20 percent males. Above 30 percent for females. While those cardio workouts are great download “map my run” by under armor and start tracking your runs. Start at 1 mile, speed walk a mile. Work your way up to running a mile walk a half mile run the last half. Then eventually run two miles. The most important thing is not to rush the 2 miles your not being scored yet. Don’t injure yourself before you go to basic take it easy and build your endurance steadily. Start doing push ups every other day atleast 200 a day. 4 sets of 25 at a time with rest in between. Sit ups and planks! I promise you will thank me later
I'm a truck driver. But I'm trying to get army trainee fit in case I need to survive on the road and hoof it out a few miles to a station. Worst case scenario stuff. I'm 6'2" 250 currently. Pretty much the most I've ever weighed in my life. Not fat, but I have a gut, which is starting to hinder me. Kinda frustrating! 😔
i am so unfit i was in a hospital for a while after breaking my leg 3 months after i get my cast cut off i can barely run a block an i got sick so this is def going to help me even if im not going in rn lol thanks!
@msx I don't have much running tips, but i feel these are most important: 1: breathing pattern. How you breathe in and out throughout your run is vital, and helps alot with how much you can run. You can do "123 (in) 123 (out)" or you can do a phrase. Mine is stupid but it works "butthole in (in) a bowl (out)". Breathing like this also prevents side aches. 2: try not to eat or drink (even water) an hour/half an hour before your run. You might wanna vomit or get a side ache. But it can depend on the person. You still always wanna wait a little bit if you eat before you run 3: If your feet/arches start to hurt when you run, invest in compression socks. 4: if your throat gets dry, chew some gum on your run. 5: try to let your mind wander, think about somthing that makes you mad or sad. 6: you can run way more than you think you can, its just you might not want to. Always ask yourself if you are aboyt to stop running "do i just not WANT to run farther, or can I physically not run farther"

I included this on another comment: One really good one is sprint-speed walk intervals. They do it in basic training. Sprint for 30s and walk for 60s. It’s helps you develop better control over your breathing and build up endurance over time. After so many days of doing it, try running a mile, then two, etc.

Lots knee push. Also find various size balls (soccer, baseball, softball, tennis ball..etc) place them under your hips or chest and do full pushups to the ball. That’s how I got my first push-up. Good luck!
you can do incline push-ups, start at like your bathroom or kitchen counter and work your way down until you can get to the floor. "Girl" or modified push-ups will work as well.
I'm going to tell you the stuff I can do and please but honest with me and please tell me if is this enough to be in the army I can do 100 pushups 1000 crunches 500 air squats 50 pullups And I can run 13 miles without stopping
I recently started running work the first time in years. I started easy & slow, just run as far as you can when your body says slow down, slow down but keep walking even through the pain. I made sure I had a distance goal for starters as opposed to time goals. Each time you go out, focus on running a little farther. Once you can run a mile focus on speeding up a little then continue ue stretching the distance to meet the two miles, once you reach two miles running then focus again on increasing speed so you can make time - if you're going to basic. Slow, steady and focusing on improving cardio slowly before trying to jump right in. Don't burn yourself out. Take it one day at a time, some days you'll run further than others but the important thing is to keep showing up and building.
That’s ok stay consistent do more throughout the day like when you watch TV do 10 in the commercials and the more you do through the day the better you will benefit you got this soldier 💪🏼

you can’t do everything right away with ease, that’s why everyone needs the training as long as you keep going and keep trying
Make sure to call your 1st sgt, drill sgt over and over again. Best workout ever. 😤😤
I feel so excited for no reason when you mention the 82nd because I've lived in Fayetteville my whole life and this is basically 8nd town 😂🙌

Do a shit ton of pushups, pullups, abdominal work and run enough. Saved you 14 minutes.
