Margot WOULD have looked like an absolute boss if he woulda stole it and would have added huge momentum to the Rays and could have turned the outcome of Game 5 to their favor. instead, he got thrown out and literally killed the momentum they had going. On the flip side, Margot should have waited. Kiermaier has been tearing it up and more than likely would have gotten a hit, scoring Margot and keep the inning alive. I guess we'll never know.

The Rays didn't have momentum in the inning by the time he tried to steal home. They got Margot to 3rd base with no outs, but then they hit a pop up to the shortstop and struck out, and their #8 hitter was behind in the count 0-1.
It was a great idea. That's the time to try it. 1st and 3rd, 2 outs, lefty on the mound, fast runner at 3rd. It almost worked, but credit to Kershaw for stepping off and making a great throw and a great tag by the catcher.
I had a play similar to this while working the plate in a high school summer league game. The twist is the batter swung at and hit what he thought was a pitch. It was actually a throw since the pitcher had legally stepped off. All hell broke loose as me and my partner killed the play. We called both coaches in and explained what had happened which was that the batter had interfered with a play at the plate with less than two outs which meant the 3B runner was declared out and the batter continued his at bat. With two outs the batter is declared out, per rule.
There was a play, I can't remember which one but the fan in the stands basically did the old WWF move where he says "suck it" and does the hand motion.... did anyone catch that lol... was waiting for a breakdown
Kershaw pitches strangely.. the leg comes up on most pitchers so they can put their full weight into the throw.. he seems to do it.. for effect, like for a fake out? For looks? I'm not sure because he puts it back down again, then throws and his leg does it's natural lift for the throw he is doing.. Very odd.. 🤔🤔🤔🤔

It was a great idea. That's the time to try it. 1st and 3rd, 2 outs, lefty on the mound, fast runner at 3rd. It almost worked, but credit to Kershaw for stepping off and making a great throw and a great tag by the catcher.

I had a play similar to this while working the plate in a high school summer league game. The twist is the batter swung at and hit what he thought was a pitch. It was actually a throw since the pitcher had legally stepped off.
All hell broke loose as me and my partner killed the play. We called both coaches in and explained what had happened which was that the batter had interfered with a play at the plate with less than two outs which meant the 3B runner was declared out and the batter continued his at bat. With two outs the batter is declared out, per rule.
You guys were asking what Muncy yelled (“home home home” or “4 4 4” or “runner runner runner”). Apparently Muncy yelled “step off” and pointed home.

Kershaw pitches strangely.. the leg comes up on most pitchers so they can put their full weight into the throw.. he seems to do it.. for effect, like for a fake out? For looks? I'm not sure because he puts it back down again, then throws and his leg does it's natural lift for the throw he is doing.. Very odd.. 🤔🤔🤔🤔
