I still can`t understand why Chrome OS and Chromebooks don`t have more traction. It works for 90% of the people , been affordable, fast, hassle free and reliable for the whole family to use.
Google could also work on a more integration between chromebooks and pixel devices.

They are doing okay but have reached saturation point and now settling at around 5 million per quarter for the last two years. That is a fair share bearing in mind Windows's natural monopoly in the PC world.

I guess Google lacks on investing in the in-development world. Over South America, we only had Chromebooks at retail and education with the 4GB-32GB settings. But in Enterprise, a lot of other models inclunding Intel Comet Lake above.

The over all lack of application support is still very obvious. Sure, we have Chrome and it's a decent browser. But plenty of very useful utilities are still missing.

I don't understand the rave about them though.
They're marketed as cheap laptop replacements - never a long-term USP and are hence not aspirational.
Not to mention all of your rave about web apps being the future - windows and mac can run web apps just as well if not better.
Also once you're in proper enterprise grade laptop spec territory it typically is not cheaper than windows laptops that everyone is accustomed to.

I have this model. I actually like it. Yes the screen could be brighter but in my experience , it still gets the job done.

No one will listen to this - but DO NOT buy an HP Chromebook. I bought 3 of the same model and all 3 died right after warranty expired. And I mean DEAD dead. *edit - my HP Omen 16 PC died completely at 14 months also.

Probably baked in obsolesence by design.

Technically 1 of them was "fixable" (chromebooks) but 2 were so dead - power button /flash/repeat. HP makes garbage. @@jami7772

Thanks. I’d rather invest a bit more on a laptop but it lasts longer.

That’s strange, my HP Chromebook and windows laptop both still work after years of use.

This is funny, I checked your channel if you already reviewd the HP Chromebook Plus, but found only a review 4 years ago for a different HP Chromebook.
Then I went over to Amazon and saw they reduced price from 499 Euros to 349 Euros. Bought it at an instant and now I see you reviewed it after I bought it. LOL!

Supplemental: The thing is, there is no "HP Chromebook Plus 15.6". I've learnt that names are useless without the specific type nummer. HP build this Chromebook in at least three different versions. Mine has the Chromebook Plus Logo on the backside of the lid, the i3 provessor and 256 GB SSD, but it has no backlit keyboard. But there is definitely a version with i3, 8GB RAM, 128 GB SSD including a backlit keyboard.
It's so sad that manufacturers hide such details and are confusing customiers with various versions and cryptical numbers.

I wish the plus was a higher standard. Instead of a minimum. 16 or 32 gs of ram and 512 ssd or betteer.
And stop soldering everything to the motherboard. Let us upgrade if we want !

Same here! If they would offer good units that had upgradeable storage and ram, I would never use windows again!

Super helpful I want the Plus but I will wait for more refurbs and use my aging machine a bit longer. The worst thing about a Chromebook is the file management system it should be more like Windows but I use my Chromebook constantly.

I use an ASUS 15.6 machine (pre-chromebook plus), with Intel in it. It fits what I need - more real estate for the Linux coding I do- but the 250 nits is indeed well low. As I do most of my work in the rather dark kitchen, this is only a problem when I'm travelling. Apart from that, with enough RAM, lots of starage and the crucial HDMI port, it's ace.

    I am still praying for a 17" CB+
Of course, when they give me that they will almost certainly cut back on some other feature or better hardware (CPU, less ram, remove the BL keyboard). Seems to be the standard mode of operation. Or even worse, like what the did here.
HP: Here is a larger screen but we are not giving you touch or a screen that works well if there is a bright candle in the room.
I wager that when a 17" comes out, if one does, it will be an i3 or the lowet AMD CPU, minum ram, minimum storage.

So, as we go forward and processors/memory age, will Google need a Chromebook Plus 2 standard?

Shame that all the Chromebooks coming out are all identical in looks and specs, nothing that really looks innovative or interesting and that goes for Windows and Apple hardware. Where’s all the cool, interesting designs like the Pixelbook Go, Pixebook Chromebook and that, understandably expensive, but really cool looking red Samsung Chromebook, I want that wow factor back!

Why is it even allowed to be a Chromebook Plus with these mediocre specs? Decent screen and connections should be mandatory
