One rear bearing was done after only 24k km on my NC. Thanks again Adrian for your excellent vids, took me an hour to replace the bearings. Did it the first time and was probably a bit too careful, but finally did the job thanks to your excellent explanations :)
Did mine fairly quick after seeing this. Brake side took a beating because water had gotten in somehow and seized the bearing to the wheel. But all good and my rear is smooth as butter now. Many thanks!
Your advice is good, changed mine in no time. btw the bearings are 6204 2RS front and rear, really cheap standard size (sprocket carrier is different though). Thanks
I think it would be better if you use the old bearings to put on top of the new bearings to tap them in. more evenly and less chance of damaging the new one.

It was spinning smoothly in the wheel hub, but I decided to just change since it's been 2 sets of tyre change since the last bearing replacement. After removing the bearing I shake it and it feels like the ball bearings moving about. I took a new one and shake it and they do not have the balls moving around sound. Physical inspection on the old bearing seems fine. All my bearings 2 front and 3 rear all have this balls moving about sound when I shaked them although they were spinning smoothly in the wheel hub
Ao tirar o rolamento, ao invés de bater, aquece a volta dele com um soprador térmico até 120°, e ele sai muito mais fácil Na hora de colocar no lugar, aquece a 120°, e coloca o rolamento no congelador por 3 minutos Isso facilita muito o processo
Not a single time was a Greaseolygist consulted. And if I recall, bearings are supposed to be removed with a torque wrench and installed with an impact wrench set to high-torque. The seals on the bearings are supposed to be pried with a dial gauge and the bearings should have been mounted in a lathe and rotated while the grease was installed to ensure a consistent application.

Just something else you might look into and that is a peice of brass bar as a drift i inherited my old mans its just a piece of brass bar that i use to remove wheel bearings on trailers and cars even use it on the head stem bearings on an fj1100 when i owned it anyway just something to ponder .

Sorry. Don’t have them. I took the old ones to the local bearing seller and he matched all but one. One is a rare size and has to be purchased from Honda.
Sorry for the dumb question. At the end of your video, you say take the bike to the shop to get the wheel fitted. Can you not remove and put it back on yourself like you show in your other video and tape the adjusters?
I noticed you took out the seal on the brake rotor side, but after installation you did not put a new seal back in. You only put a seal on the sprocket side. But maybe you just forgot to show it on the video :)
I have a garage spot with a locker but in a open space shared with all the building neighbours. It is a challenge mainly because the lack of light and privacy but i still do all the maintnance on my bikes, even valve adjustments...
Are you talking about the bearings behind the sprocket drive ? If so this is normal. Only a grease seal on each exterior side of the wheel. Besides the bearings each have their own grease seal to keep their grease in and gunk out.

Sorry. Don’t know. The odd size bearing I could not get from the bearing supplier. I wasn’t going to pay for a Honda one. But the bearing supplier had a stock size that was 1mm narrower and I have used that with no I’ll effects.

My bike has done 38,000km. But bearings only need replacing when they are worn. So check you wheels from time to time and if you see/feel movement, replace.

I have just googled that very problem on the NC750 and its a common fault, so far I have read that some owners had rear wheel bearings done twice, one had them done under warranty at 13k miles (20k kms) then again at 23k miles (37k kms). It seems wheel bearings don't last as long as the chain. Maybe cheap at $16, but the ease of maintenance on the NC750 seems to have become less easier.
Cajun Rider - no idea mate. If anyone can suggest a way to diagnose bearing failure I’d love to know. It had plenty of grease in it when I inspected it and no signs of water ingress. By the way, what kilometres should bearings wear out?
Don't like the way you put the new bearings in. Find the correct socket that fits the "outer rim" of the bearing. Never tap on the race cover, or inner race.
Just got mine done. It wasn't that bad, the main sprockets came out fairly quick. Just a pain to hook onto the first bearing in the wheel but the second is super easy. The hub bearing requires flat out beating to get out. All are fairly easy to get back in if you put the rim between something that's level so you get it straightened out and not go in crooked.
Good video didnt see anything to dramatic that you did wrongly and you saved yourself a heap of money well done .

Put new bearings in the freezer overnight, they drift into place much easier when fitting. .

All the bearing I replaced were plain roller bearings of the same type.

Actually bearings of such size costs no big money. Usually I change them with new ones when disassembling any mechanism been in longterm use.

No - one of the bearings is larger and a weird size. No - the grease seals are replaced at the same time.

My suzuki gn 125 needed new bearings at 10k miles, i got it last year with 6k miles and its from 2003 so notice it was sitting a lot
And sometimes use of high pressure water jet cleaning the tires are cause of early failure too.
Too tight chain tension ruined sprocket side - go 5mm more than manufacturers guide! !
