The reason why Dorian is so good at swimming it's because it's the only way he can cross the ocean. Airplane security got sick of having to scan his stomach for grenades every time he flew and put him on a no fly list

Dorian was the strongest prisoner though who actually had a legit martial arts background in chinese kenpo. He basically fought a whole dojo of guys and survived and beat doppo when he cut off doppo hand plus he beat 2 legit students of doppo that guy who he almost killed and the other guy who finished off doyle
edit - okay actually poison hand guy was a martial artist too but he studied the art of b*tch slapping your opponent and actually tried to fight baki by slapping him to which baki then says my dad told me this martial art is for woman haha then baki basically b*tch slapped him back but twice as hard

Doyle rupturing his own eardrums makes perfect sense in the Baki universe, he can just imagine that he hears things instead
The complete lack of visual and audio stimuli will enhance his imagination, thus allowing him to imagine his hearing and sight back, along with sixth, seventh and eight new senses. He'll then imagine Muhammed Ali being interviewed, while a guard recalls seeing Doyle imagine Muhammed Ali being interviewed, and thus actually seeing the interview as well. Pretty realistic.

I love how this guy manages to do a detailed character summary while also poking fun at all the hilariously illogical stuff in Baki.
It wouldn't be so bad except that Baki *tries* to be logical but does nothing but disprove its own assertions every other volume.
@@kylepessell1350 Exactly, it tries to be an anime rooted in the real world with real places, real people, and reference to real combat/martial arts strategies but then it does such outlandish things with them that any credibility it tries to build up with a "realistic" setting are shattered.
Kengan Ashura is way more realistic than Baki and that's saying alot!

Seriously though, its based on an actual kung fu trick where you train neck muscles to the point of being able to keep breathing by using your muscles to stop your neck from being squeezed while being hanged.

With Baki characters taking godawful injuries that would never heal in real life, and then fully recovering by the next time you see them, I fully expected Doyle to get one if not both of his eyes back.
I find it very hard to tell when their injuries are meant to be permanent since it rarely happens.

Lets be honest with ourselves here: Applying logic to Baki is an excercise in futility. Baki isnt about being realistic or having a good plot, its about really REALLY buff martial artist and warriors having over the top fights of life and death. Basically "Repeatedly Jumping The Shark: The Fighting Anime Edition"

Doyle surviving the Chair is straight up terrifying. Even more so than Dorian surviving being hung.
The chair is a sure thing. You get in the chair and you don't get back up. EVER. You ever wonder why the face of the victim is always covered? Bc the surge of electricity is so damn powerful that it pops every blood vessel in the face and essentially fries the head entirely making the eyeballs explode. Not a pretty sight.
How Doyle survived that with all the hardware he has in his body is beyond me.

00:09 Doyle is one of the smaller death row inmates at 6'1" and only 187 lb, Sikorski is a little bigger at 6'3" and 220 lb, Yanagi is much smaller at only 5'3" and 132 lb and obviously Dorian and Speck are huge in comparison. In this shot however he looks twice as big as these prison guards. Is every prison guard and police man in the Baki universe 4 feet tall and 90 lb?
