Stunning drone footage! I can always tell best how much the Trent’s flooded by the embankment steps! Never seen it this bad though! My old school was the Becket Upper used to be near the suspension bridge
Thanks for another great video. I grew up in Nottingham and used to go to school at Mundella, near the memorial gardens. We could always tell when the river was high when we could see the boat name on “Galantus”, which was a very posh boat that used to be moored on the river.
As always you never ever fail to deliver. What a fantastic video. For me, takes me back, I used to live in netherfield. Thankyou for uploading. You are the best. 👍👍
Brilliant footage..... Used to fish Stoke Bardolph and thr road stretch...... Keep up the excellent work👍👍👍👍 You remind me of Mark Crossley..... Ex Nottingham Forest keeper....
Great footage. I used to walk Colwick park every lunchtime when I worked down that way. I've seen it in flood many times, but never as bad as that. And thise floods ariund Burton Joyce are simething else. Thanks for sharing this. As a new subscriber I look forward to watching your other videos. Stay safe.
Fast deep water. Quite scary. But what an excellent video. Filming fabulous. Drone footage so clear. Well documented. Thank you Ant. Take care especially around that deep water.
First time viewer here...ive walked various sections of this, and to Gunthorpe Bridge etc...thanks for an excellent and well presented video, the flooding always fascinated me for some reason😀 Subscribed.
In order to protect Attenborough and The Meadows they have just pushed the problem further down river, despite the fact that the football pitches on the embankment were meant to act as a safety valve against floods in The Meadows.
Fantastic thanks Ant. Floods are really pretty. Thanks for not turning off that slip. I was waiting for a slip. Thanks for taking me along. Please take care
Thanks Ant for great videos- I live in Newark and there the Trent splits so they can manage the flooding in the town but the other route floods often and covers all the land to the West of Newark, including the Rugby ground! Maybe you could visit this part of the Trent sometime.
Being a local using the footpath from Gunthorpe to Colwick at some time every year for many years, I found your footage, especially the drone footage, absolutely brilliant. I thought you might have mentioned the canoe slalom on the National Water Sports Centre in your shots close to the sluice gate gates at Colwick. Not surprising though, they were hardly discernible in the torrent of the wide flood at that point. The views provided by the drone were stunning and captivating. I have spent many hours in the area as a cyclist and walker and your footage was fascinating from beginning to end. Top notch, thankyou.
This is remarkable.I live locally to all this flooding. I have seen it flooded down there many times down the years when we have had a lot of rain or snow melt. However I don't recall us having that much rain recently. We have had about an inch of snow locally which melted quickly.I think a lot of this is failure to dredge the small rivers and drains which get blocked with fallen autumn leaves and twigs at this time of year. The authorities used to dredge and clear all the debris in years past and I'am sure this helped to prevent flooding to a certain extent. A lot of the water flows down river from where there has been more rain and snowfall than here and eventually into the Humber at Trent Falls. Great video.Thankyou...
That's exactly what I'm thinking: the UK hasn't had much rain at all recently and this video was filmed before any snow had melted. Where's the water come from?
Hello, great video as always Ant. At 22:26 - what is the image showing, flood erosion protection or recently pollarded willow perhaps. Anybody know please?
@TrekkingExploration to think that less than 18 months ago I was exploring around and under the arches on both sides of Trent Bridge. Got some beautiful shots of it and the Lady Bae. And it's now all water and mud.... Still a glorious looking day.. all the best.
Watching you scrunch along the icy paths makes me grateful that I'm sipping a hot toddy on my way to bed. My grandad lived in Dryden Street near the town centre and I used to take a few walks along the Trent but I never saw it lke this.
Really Enjoying your videos. I wondered if you could do a walk that crosses the old northern bridge on Highbury vale Bulwell. I use to live very close to it as a kid and vaguely remember my brother taking me down the side of that bridge to see some sidings there. Many thanks keep it up 👍😉
@trekkingexploration Excellent video, nice one mate. Subscribed. 👍👍 Your drone stuff is superb. Not been able to get out and about much lately due to the ice and flooding so was great to see your aerial footage of Burton Joyce. Do you mind if I ask what your handheld camera is? Cheers mate. Chris.
Great video. If possible it would be good to do a split screen to compare river levels at different times of year. Perhaps a short section comparing screen shots to aid clarity. Thank you! for taking the time & effort posting this local content
Nice footage. Would love to see the drone shots run for longer, as often I found myself rewinding. Those shots take a second or two to orient in the mind, then no soon have I started to appreciate the view and action, it cuts away. But great work documenting this. I could also use the x0.5 option!
Isn't it testimony to the bridge builders of the Trent Bridge that it easily with- standing the flow of the water? Another great video. Thanks for making it. When are you auditioning for Dancing on Ice? 😂
Great video. I’ve done something similar on the tidal, it’s been bad further down this way on too. As you said, flooding is awful, but it’s a staggering thing to witness.
Wooooow! Beautiful vid, but a bit scary to see the scale of the impact. You should've packed your waders, Ant. Have a great 2025. At least the sun is shining. Cheers. 😎 🥳
Great video Ant. Sadly this type of flooding seems to be getting more and more common. If the authorities just did a small amount of river management, clearing some of the weed and silt, it would make a lot of difference.
Could you possibly do a video on the South staffordshire railway walk I think you will find it very interesting and some track and original stations remain one called the platform and one called cupcake lane.
I live in Wilford village. You should of took a walk down here. I walk the dog down by the Trent every day and the amount the Trent went up in 24 hours was crazy.it must of gone up at least 4 feet . They had to close Wilford lane as it was flooded near the tram lanes with sewage water. Mind you all the houses their building around here isn't helping. Where is all the water supposed to go now that the fields have gone
Areas upstream don’t allow for overflow to sink in the ground ‘flood plains’ as councils have allowed urbanisation to increase revenue. Plus, many rivers should have been dredged over the many years as preventative maintenance. Something they do with canals. Do those politicians living in ivory towers on hill tops give a 💩, probably; maybe if flooded residents take their grievances and anger to London.
I can’t believe the sheer amount of water there was! Oh Jesus my heart skipped a beat when you were by The Ferryboat! 🫣 I like the railway viaduct. Shame the right line is disused. Now is Radcliffe where the coal powerstation is? Husband goes to Nottingham often (he’s a Warhammer player) but I’m not overly familiar with the place.
I'm in Nottingham, and, although we get the alert, I have not been able to see the flooding. So this video was incredibly informative. Thank you!
Stunning drone footage! I can always tell best how much the Trent’s flooded by the embankment steps! Never seen it this bad though! My old school was the Becket Upper used to be near the suspension bridge
Glad you enjoyed it. I'd never seen it as high as that top step either. Give it a few months we'll all be sat on the grass in warm weather again ☺️
As they say "Nice weather for the ducks" ! Great video as usual, Ant, especially your drone shots. Thanks for that!
Glad you like them Michael thanks very much
Absolutely brilliant video, I have seen the Trent high, but not as high as this.
Thanks for venturing out for us all.
Very kind Roy thanks very much indeed 😊

Absolutely brilliant video, thank you , showing the impact of the flooding is quite scary . It makes one appreciate living away from the flood zones 😕
I just know I had to go and record this. Thank you 😊😊😊
The Trent burst it's banks near Newark a few years ago

You should have made it to the suspension bridge. The speed of the water and the eddies were quite something under the southern side of the bend
Now if there was only a way to get all that river water to southern California to help fight the fires........
Or harness the power of the water to generate more power.

I was planning to fish at Stoke Bardolph this weekend, maybe I will leave it a few weeks
I popped down again 2 days later ( Saturday) the water had dropped considerably
@ ahh brill thanks for that info
Lovely video, Ant. My goodness, the river was high. An extra delight was to see a smoking chimney! What was that part of?
Ill have to go back and check. May have been the Sugar Refinery
I think it's Eastcroft Incinerator.
Where has all the water come from? There's been no rain to speak of for ages and, as you can see, the snow and ice is still solid.
What’s it like up near Trent lock, sawley, long Eaton area?
Just as bad apparently. I didn't get time to do that unfortunately 😞
Wow, that looks pretty serious 😢
