    I love the options it gives players. The fact that you can mix and match heroes and villains in a squad and different eras between the two squads is really cool. Even if you like thematic armies and will stick only to that. It's nice to have options.

    I quite like how they’ve done the squad building. I expect a lot of list building will self regulate. I can see some people sticking to a single era and “Good” or “Bad” side. Equally there is enough flexibility that you can run Bo Katan along side some units from the Galactic Civil War (so long as you adhere to squad rules).
    You can also mix and match good/bad forces, so you can do a fluffy Citadel list with Anakin, Obi Wan, Cody, Padawan Ahsoka, some 501st and a few reprogrammed B1 Battle Droids.

      The squads of clone troopers are different though.... So couldn't you? They aren't named the same I thought. Droids are just named whatever droid type but clones are the actual squad labeled, numbered and all.

    • @cjpeach11
      @cjpeach11 Год назад +1

      Rereading the article. Yes. You can run the 501st clones with one primary and Obiwans 212th clones. With rex and Cody as seconds. So 6 clone troopers total can be done from what we have seen so far.

    • @brandonl7759
      @brandonl7759 Год назад

      Yeah that's disappointing. They allowed cross faction but not that. Seems odd. Everything is gonna run off synergy anyway so all that does is limit meta lists even more.

    • @brandonl7759
      @brandonl7759 Год назад +2

      @@cjpeach11 so the problem here is that you have to run 1 leader, 1 secondary, and 1 support. Clones are listed as supports so you'll still have to take Rex or Cody in a clones list instead of going clone aggro like you can in legion. Secondary are all named characters and supports are your infantry. You can run multiple if they don't cost many points but you're still limited to that slot and have to fill the other roles

  • @AndrewMcColl
    @AndrewMcColl Год назад +1

    I suspect part of the reasoning behind the mixing of eras is to accommodate for the 'between times' like we see in Rebels, Bad Batch, and the like where you have elements of the Clone Wars alongside those from the Galactic Civil War.
    Still, it's easy enough for events to use a 'no era mixing' rule for list building.

    • @TabletopOddity

  • @JustinKase1969

    One thing I was disappointed with is that a force user that is under support doesn't add to Force power. It seems like they should have just charged 1 more point for the character and granted the bonus Force power.
    Or they really should have just called it Command points, which seems more appropriate considering the non-force squad leaders.

  • @steg0
    @steg0 Год назад +1

    I hope the fun of having the characters be still good vs bad and clones vs droids, but later the intrigue of mixing and meshing characters will create a new life for the game. Idk that's kinda what I'm thinking.

    The less restrictions the easier to min/max. You are correct, that this will drive sales - but sales of certain units. This makes the game easier to min/max which always devolves a game into a pile of effects. For players who like just manipulating effects, this is perfect. For those who enjoy the fluff, this is a turn-off. If I was going to strictly play at home, amongst like-minded friends, then it is no big deal. But if I am going to play at a venue with others, than this can be a big turn-off. I'm looking at the game - love the mins, the era, the interesting scoring and squad-building point system - but I watched a single player kill Star Trek Attack Wing at my venue because you could mix whatever vs the restrictions Star Wars Attack Wing and I am leaning on a pass on this game. Thanks for the info...

  • @POzziee

    I'm also not a fan of this squad mixing.
    Having Maul run with Rex, or Bo is one thing, but then having the second half of your force being from a different time zone isn't appealing to me.
    I feel that AMG are putting profit before lore and common sense. Like they do with Crisis Protocol, which I do play but cringe at some of the mix match rosters I face.
    Legion gets it right and can see a reason other than to sell more product AMG have changed it for Shatterpoint.
    Look at the latest Legion release, Moff Gideon and The Darktroopers. As an Empire player, I'm getting them, but I didn't get the new Boba Fett, as I don't play Rebels. If it was Shatterpoint I'd have probably got the lot. That's the reason AMG are mixing it all up.
    Given this and the fact Asmodee still haven't sorted out some missing parts from a 501st Battle Force, I've been waiting all year for, it's a pass for me.
    Also t have spotted that should Mando (Dinn) be released he can't currently run with Bo and her Mandos, yet they do in the show? Unless they do a Civil War era Bo etc AMG will let you take stupid lire breaking squads, but not ones that we've seen on Disney+

    Just gonna be real, but I don't really believe in this or it's longevity. The high entry price is going to scare casual people away, and the list building is going to be heavily meta dependent on synergy lists, which theirs 4 of right now? I hope they don't stop investing in legion cause I don't see this making the long haul.

    Mixing and matching good/bad units within the same squad doesn't actually bother me as much as mixing eras within a game. I take it as alternate timelines, a sort of "What If...?" Ie, What if Leia was taken from her adopted parents at a very young age and basically raised by The Empire? Maybe she could have turned out differently and becomes loyal to Vader. I like how this leaves interesting little stories to the imagination.
    However, mixing different eras is a harder pill for me to swallow. Maybe the idea is there is a Star Wars Multiverse, with infinite realities, some of which are being pulled into some kind of weird phenomenon where different squads from different realities/time periods are being flung together.
    Still, I can see myself wanting to keep the entire game within a single era and then just saying the whole fight is a single episode of "What If...?" to explain the unconventional mixing of units within a single squad.
