4:06 "The war machine just springs to life, opens up one eager eye, focusing upon the sky as 99 red balloons float by."

I was 20yr. old in 1970 and enjoyed "playing" these video games on the worlds largest computer. It was very realistic for those days. Nukes going off, radars being jammed, BOMARCS with nuke warheads destroying squadrons of enemy bombers, F-106 fighters killing Soviet bombers with Genie air to air nukes, chemical and biological attacks, etc. World War Three. What a blast! Miss the "Good Old Days", NOT! Glad it didn't happen. We had a strong deterrent. The Reds knew it and did not attack. NORAD saved the world for sure and I am proud to have served.

Thank you for your service, Steve! As you know, Mutually-Assured Destruction (MAD) relied upon a potential enemy's primal human instinct for survival. Instead of attacking, the Soviet Union/Warsaw Pact nations eventually went bankrupt.

I wonder if the cheyenne mountain complexe has to deal with structural degradation issues these days seeing how old it is. Imagine the main blast door being renovated.

It was effectively useless the moment it was finished as it can't withstand even one direct hit of a fusion nuke let alone multiple.
The russian yanmantau complex suspected to exist is believed to be able to withstand 10-20 hits, depending on the opinion of the site visited, due to that ranges high quartz structure.
Combined with their s300-s500 missile system their military command structure is nearly immune to nuclear attack.

i wouldn't trust superstitions like that. just like the tsar bomba, russians like to boast about things no one can reliably confirm. either way, a single bunker buster nuke can destroy any complex, no matter how tough it is.

This is very confusing (video) seem to be showing French Mirage War Plane, Launching an Atlas Buster Rocket?
Please if you are going to do this use Real World Data, this has to be at least 60 years old. This is vital information to the
Human Race!! Get it together an "update", Nuclear Triad is very, very serious. I don't need useless exercise 60 years old.
    Thank you

This channel is an archive of old informational films. He didn't make the video.
