My mom used to make cucumbers and onions all the time in the summer. My dad loved them. I wouldn't eat them as a kid, despite my love for pickles, but now I do. My mom used to put in cucumbers, onions, apple cider vinegar, and a touch of brown sugar and salt. Almost identical to Buzz's mom's mix. I remember they certainly never lasted long. Talli Faye, I love cucumbers! Use them in salads & on sandwiches. I love this type of recipe. Just knowing that vinegar is on the cucumbers has my salivary glands working over time. Still using my grandma's Pyrex bowls, orange yellow and avocado green with daisies on the large orange one. They are still like new.. and been used for around 60 years..
Ive got a big boel just like that, i got it at a flee market, they didnt have the tow smaller sizes, but i love that bowl those cukes look like thed be really good ill have to make them thanks for the recipe😊
Dearest Friend, cucumbers and onions are my FAVORITE ❤. My brine recipe is quite different. We’ve always used equal parts of cider vinegar, sugar and water. So 1/2 Cup of each, add sliced cukes and onions and let marinade in the Frig. It makes more juice to have when served. Once the cukes and onions are gone you can add more of the veggies to the brine and have more. Nothing wasted. I hope you try it like this, somtime My paternal grandma came from Denmark. Everything had sugar in or on it. Always had thick sliced tomatoes with sugar on top 🤣😂🤣. Your KeyLime Friend 💕🙏🙏
