Great Video. I’m surprised you didn’t have to use a liner install tool to get the liners all the way into the block.

Monarch Tools makes a great kit for cutting counterbores. It’s easy to do yourself.

    Very good.
I came across your channel while researching the ISX 650 that was put into some RVs (Coach RVs) and the problems/costs associated with that engine. That 650 is wonderful power but the problems with that DOHC probably aren't worth the risk. And, it seems that the DOHC is not the only issue with that engine; several additional issues as well. Major horror stories documented on several forums, by several individuals who have lived that nightmare. And once upon a time, we had the fabulous N14 and before that we had the 855 Big Cam engine. Both of those were good engines for me. Years ago, if we had to even consider touching anything internally before a million miles, we were stunned. We used to get well over 1 million miles before we touched anything inside of diesel engines. And then came the emissions debacle. I'm reading about guys who have had to completely overhaul that ISX 650 before 50,000 miles; one of the valves would fail (#6 cylinder from memory) and it would nearly destroy that engine. A couple reports of engine failure before 19,000 miles. And the cost... scratching $50K to fix the mess! One guy reported engine failure twice, both before 50,000 miles. I'm not finished reading/researching yet but it looks like Cummins had to completely redesign the cylinder head, rockers, valves and more to "hopefully" fix the problem. I like big engines and it's very frustrating that a big engine such as that one can't be more dependable than that. It's always a nice feeling to have major power and then just let that thing purr down the road.
It's fabulous that you're taking the time and willing to work to document this; overhauling an engine and trying to film it is not easy.
    Thank you for doing this.

Thank you, #6 was difficult to get to. It seemed the bores got tighter and tighter from front to back. I appreciate your support
