How to find the KEY and TEMPO of any song or sample! (EASIEST Way)

- In this music production tutorial I'll show you how to find the key and tempo (BPM) of any song or audio sample in 10 seconds or less. There are many ways to find the key and tempo of a song or audio sample inside FL Studio, Ableton and other daws. However, it is often quicker to just use a website, and drag the sample in. It will then auto-detect the key of the sample, or the song, as well as the detected tempo.
This is important to know if you are going to make a remix for example, or autotune a vocal. You will then have to know the key of the song. If you're making a remix and you have a vocal sample or an instrumental or whatever, you'll need to know both the tempo, or BPM, and the key of the audio, and this is really the quickest way to do that.
There are plenty of third-party software available that can do this, such as mixed in key, keyfinder etc. But personally, I tend to just use websites like this, simply because it's quicker. This means that it doesn't matter what kind of DAW you're using either. It works just as well for FL Studio, Ableton, Cubase, and Logic pro users etc.

The best part of your tutorials is that you get right to the point. I had trouble a couple of weeks ago finding the key of a track for a remix so this'll make it a non issue in the future ;)
Tunebat has been wrong for me on several occasions. Always double verify using other methods.
Facts
This is one of the best tutorials I have seen. Cutthroat to-the-point in a hilarious way.
THx FIREWALK as always
You're welcome 😊
Short and good video - thanx a lot!
👍 - also for the YT algo! 😊
Thanks 😀
Nice information
Thank you so much! I needed decimal bpm cause my beat was slowly drifting off even tho I got the bpm off of tunebat and matched it
Much appreciated. Thank you
Thx for that!
You're welcome! 😊
Hey Eirik, just to say hello. Nice, effective vid. Cheers bud!
Hi Jan! Thanks, how are you?
@@FireWalkMusic I'm more than okay, almost a bit manic 🙂 Thnx for asking!
Useful video ! There is also a software called Mixed in Key Live, of course it is paid but much more accurate and faster since it works live, we have been using it for a while and it's perfect to find the tempo and the key of any sample simply and quickly ;)
Thanks very useful!
You're welcome 😀
Haven't had a problem doing it by ear :)
For the tempo I either tap it on the akai fire or being an old DJ id just match it on the beat with the metronome on. For the Key if it don't sound right I don't use it. Haha.
I’ve actually came across that sight and one particular song it can not find the tempo. It does but it’s incorrect
What about songs that have a tempo change? Is there an easy way to see multiple bpm listings for a single song?
Not the best with music theory, Ab minor ( what's the "b" about? )
It means it is flat. So the root note is the black key BELOW the white A key. I believe it could also be referred to as G#, since # means 'sharp' (the black key ABOVE a note).
T be fair this stuff has always been wrong in my case. It's also good to develop aural skills for the key.
It's not always accurate, especially for samples, but it is no worse than any plugin I've tried. It does a good job most of the time, at least for me. 😊
@@FireWalkMusic the best way for me has been auto-key plugin. especially since its able to identify the frequency its tuned at and it also analyzes in real time.
@@north7295 yeah, it's pretty good! But not free. I usually just do it by ear myself actually, using my midi keyboard to find the root note. 🙂
where are u???
do i need to keep saying this tunebat is fucking garbage and doesnt work
