In this day and age, I think you should distinguish between what type of single you are talking about. This strategy seems to make a lot of sense for a single/divorced person with children to leave an estate to. What about single people with no children. They probably don't care as much about leaving a big estate and/or they probably have charities in mind when they pass away.
What you'll learn as you reach this 'old age' is that most people are single. And then you proceed going in detail about what couples do. Could you just streamline it to what single people should do.
Spending every freaking cent of my $$$$ (hopefully). Anything left goes to dog charities. Screw people. I won't give a damn about taxes after I'm dead.
I am a single 53 year old and will retire in early 54. Take your money and get the heck out of Canada!! This financial dumpster fire is not where we should be living in retirement. Take our dollar and head to a cheaper cost of living destination. We will never be healthier than we are now, so let's go and enjoy the time we have left seeing the world and enjoying a life without work.
Me, I retire tomorrow at 59, would have been retired at 57 had it not been for covid, this is exactly the strategy I plan on using. I don't want to leave the CRA hundreds of thousands $$$$$$$$$.🙂
Great a CFP who gets it! 🥇
65%+ of seniors are single, widowed, or divorced. Great to see examples with these case studies. ✅

Who is able to retire at 57 in Canada with the massive taxes. Why don’t you just use 65
You’d be surprised! Many singles don’t have kids and have saved a lot along the way….

Me, I retired at 55, now 57. I am now trying to figure out how to "meltdown" my RRSPs to minimize my taxes as I get older
