Im 55 years old, and can say the Sutters are NOT even close to the best brothers in the league. They werent ever in the news or highlite reels for their PLAY; just the fact that a pile of Sutters were in the league.

I'm almost certain that Patrick Roy PSA authenticated autograph is legit. His auto has changed drastically over the years. The "P" looks absolutely legit for years ago.

I recently got an an auto at Fanatics Fest and they had an option to authenticate the jersey I had signed by a representative from Beckett. They charged $10 for the service. It was essentially a dude that watched me get the auto and then put the Beckett silver holo sticker on it. Also Phil’s mustache is def underrated.

Good to know! Probably worth the $10...and yes...Phil's mustache is definitely underrated lol.

Clarke saved hockey for Canada during the 70’s. If he didn’t slash Kharlamov’s ankle, I’d think CCCP wins in 72. It’s a shame Clarke fell in the draft, due to his diabetes. Could you imagine him playing with the Canadiens during the 70’s???

Interesting thought experiment for sure. Would be weird thinking of him in a different uni.

When it comes to Phil's segment on autographs, I must say, there needs to be more research done before sounding off with such an absolute opinion. ALL of the examples showed on the left side which all of you sounded off on, as the autographs being fake, do in fact differ in appearance from the Upper Deck Certified/Pack Pulled autographs. This is true. But there is a reason for this. These autographs are considered 'rushed' examples. When an autograph seeker gets an autograph on the go, in a parking lot, literally walking down the sidewalk and having the athlete not even slow their feet to do the signatures. They are not fake. They are just low quality. Every athlete has a "table graph" and a "rushed graph." The authenticators study pen stroke, starting placement the pen, and many other clues to authenticate the signature. They simply do not authenticate a signature until they can study all sorts of examples and answer with accuracy and a certain level of 'absolute.' I am one of the autograph nuts that when it comes to baseball at least, get auto's at games and stuff. I see the discrepancy amongst athletes all the time. PSA is super finicky about authenticating them these days. They are really hesitant to do it, as they do not want to get burned. Kind of like a doctor writing prescriptions, they are careful and weigh the risks and reward before doing this. Guys like Gretzky have 20 different autographs ranging from their "rookie era signature" all the way to their "upper deck was present during the signature" retired old man signature that we see today in Wayne. All of the examples here are consistent in each respective athletes crappy rushed signature. PSA knows this, me, average joe autograph fan, knows this. I was not a fan of the absolute "THESE ARE HORRIBLY FAKE" kind of remarks, as guess what, they are real...

Also, PSA has nothing to gain financially from saying YAY to an autograph opposed to NAY. They charge you EITHER WAY!!

Hey Thorson! I am never absolute in my opinions regardless how passionate I come across. Always open to change my mind with new information. I made it known that my segments are more for a quick vent, nothing written in stone.
I apologize if the feeling of the segment was for a "gotcha" moment. Not my intention. My intention is to show how subjective something can be and it's not good ethics, in my opinion, to be taking advantage of such a gray area. Who am I to say if an autograph has been rushed or not. I'll tell you who I am, somebody who is much more confident in his abilities than some unqualified part time 23 year old grader in a corporate assembly line. I honestly would value your opinion, as someone who is on the front lines of our hobby, much more about an auto than PSA. I can give example after example of just blatant nonsense with this autograph authentication from grader companies.
I'm sorry but we'll also have to agree to disagree on the rushed Gretzky auto, there's just no way I see it as a “rushed auto from Wayne”. Same with the Roy, that is flat out not his auto and if it was rushed, the person should have a great memory of that experience. Not getting it authenticated and then selling it and now it looks ridiculous and here we are talking about something we'll never know.
I also disagree with PSA being super finicky these days. They might be making a valiant effort to appear so, the cloak of mystery metrics, especially for their autograph authentication, is still quite silly imo.
Most important part here, my opinion is not absolute! I'm passionate, not bull headed! Ok maybe a little lol!

I love Phil's segment....he always does an awesome job! Some of the examples phil provided are at best rushed crappy in person autos and at worse they are indeed fake. Buyer beware for any certified in person autos. But i will say that a person's auto could change over time. Gretzky's auto in 1980 is not the same as his auto in the 1990s to current. A lot of times, people chase and assign more value to period correct autos vs current autos.
    Another great show, guys.

LaFontaine was the Gretzky to Mogilny’s Kurri. I’d put him ahead of both Andretchuk and Mogilny. Hasek and Perreault for sure.
