Forget the airport, we need this @ DMV. The DMV is an adults trials and temptations. I stood in line 3 hrs for them to tell me the license machine isn't working so I'd have to come back another day. 😡

I am sure having criminals volunteer information about if they are criminals will work out just fine. One more step towards never wanting to fly for myself. It was already bad enough to see how many items get past actual tsa screening and now they want to automate it?
If you are pre check you can use the metal detector, but if you are “random” you may have to get into the body scanner. You can still opt out and get a full body pat down just to get into an airplane with more radiation than the body scanner 🙂 if you are a standard passenger you can’t choose just to use the metal detector. You can pick between a body scanner or a pat down
I'm going to assume that you're talking about metal detectors. Being on the airplane or using your cellphone emits more radiation than either machine that's used to screen passengers. Opting out doesn't give you the option of using one machine over the other; opting out means that you want a patdown and you're voluntarily choosing to not go through any of the machines. How about family lines vs non family lines! I’ve been behind people with 4-5 kids so 7-8 carry on bags, cars seats, and so on! I’m usually a solo traveler and possibly my wife. We take 1 carry on, a backpack, and my wife carries her purse! Why should we have to wait for all that crap? You have a line for solo travelers like that or one dedicated line to families will make things move so much faster and more efficiently!

Same reason self checkouts flaws are here. Less security more exploits. A simple toss around the screening and off you go.

My bank has something similar and it never works correctly the screen is patchy and we can't hear each other..... highly doubt this will work.
