It's a huge honour. Letterman would do it to guys like Brian Regan and he'd mention how that was one of his greatest moments of his career. Not just to be asked to guest spot on the show but to find out the host was not only listening (truthfully, not all hosts care about all their guests), but to show it by highlighting a line they were particularly tickled by.

She only had a couple of minutes to plow through things. What I've always liked about her jokes is that she packs them in, one after the other, but without seeming rushed, whereas other comedians often drag things out or repeat themselves (Chris Rock is notorious for saying everything 3 or 4 times) to fill in for lack of material.

It can turn you from a journeyman road comic to a rich celebrity almost overnight.

Her jokes and delivery in all her sets are so good. My favorite is still the pep talk she gives her not-crying husband-to-be.
