I-90 to the Eisenhower was my route to the Greyhound Bus Station when I worked for Burlington Trailways . The ramp to stay on I-290 over I-355 was notorious for back ups . I remember the first time I trained on that route from Cedar Rapids Iowa, I was stuck on that ramp for nearly an hour when a quick moving freezing rain event occured and cause numerous car crashes that night . It was a nightmare. But great ride though. I love the view coming into the city on the Eisenhower but it’s a lot better on the eastbound of I-90, especially at night . Breathtaking views!
Fun Fact: The Eisenhower Expy. in Chicago was originally I-90 before it was rerouted to the Jane Addams and the Kennedy between Schaumburg and the Chicago Loop in 1978.
@@kosjeyr yeah I know Gary also as I live in Chicago sw suburbs. I just drove Interstate 65 from Gary down to Alabama for the first time last weekend. Beautiful drive!
@JeffSchwenke as for the main interstates that go through I've been on: 55 - Chicago to Memphis 57 - all 65 - Gary to Nashville 80 - Big Springs, NE (junction with I76) to Drums, PA (junction with I81) 90 - Rapid City, SD to Cleveland 94 - Fargo, ND - Port Huron, MI
@@kosjeyr neat. I've been on various parts of other interstates you didn't mention, such as I-5, I-35, I-40, I-75, etc. But to me each interstate (and us highway) has so many interesting things to see that you could spend weeks exploring each of them.
@JeffSchwenke with mentioning the ones that don't go through the Chicagoland then I've also been on: 10, 12, 20, 24, 25, 29, 35, 39, 40, 43, 70, 75, 76, 77, 79, 81and 84. I keep editing to add where I've been.
Ive been there.yep..remember it well..stopped at a rest stop overnight.where our yard were goin to was practically right behind us..we got up to deliver.just stayed on the off ramp.😊
At 16:47 That could had been bad. The person in the right lane force the driver in the middle lane to duck into your lane trying to dodge him or her. The idiot in the right lane should had check his or her mirrors before switching lanes. Could had cause you Mileage Mike and the driver in middle lane to crash.
I was in Chicagoland last year and rented a car. Gas prices on Mother's Day weekend were between 5 and 6 dollars a gallon. The freeways across the area are full of potholes even the expansion joints on bridges are bad. Visited Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and saw Downtown Chicago from 30 miles away!
This is my least favorite stretch of interstate in the area. It's almost always congested, traffic is either moving too slow or too fast, the on-ramps are ridiculously short, and people routinely drive on the shoulder.
Nice ride along interstate 290 in Chicago IL

19:00 - 19:30 it's unfathomable that he only spent 30 seconds in that bottleneck between Mannheim and 25th Avenues in the middle of the day 😂

Fun to see you releasing videos now on the highways I know best, those in Chicago and Milwaukee metro areas
Chicago and Gary for me 😆
Grew up in my dad's 18 wheels basically.

I live down the street from Eisenhower in Maywood. I can see the semis from my living room window. We sadly call it the Heroine Hwy.
the Circle Interchange looks MASSIVELY different now that the ridiculously long overhaul project finally was completed.
Beautiful view

Thanks for doing something in my home state of Illinois. We have many highways and interstates that connect to Chicago area and surrounding suburbs.
That's pretty nice for Illinois, Maryland has a decent amount of major highways but we have a poor amount of major east-west highways.
Do I-294 sometime this weekend or next week. I-294 is a bypass around Chicago Illinois.

I was thinking that too... also I wonder if the cop in the 28 or 29 min mark caught the guy.
Yeah there's some crazy driving out here. Definitely the worst I've seen in the midwest so far.

I beat Donovan again! Lol
Yay! Chitown!
😂😂😂😂😂😂wow lol
Would love to see a drive from 290 East all the way to Lake Shore Drive
290 was the original routing of 90.
I wonder if the cop in the 28/29 minute mark caught the person they were chasing.
Are we going to see a video on I290 and how it can be improved by mileage Mike?
Possibly. Overall it doesn't seem too bad of a roadway other than the poor quality of the pavement in many parts.
25:40 for 9 half years from Chicago Illinois I don't know when did we sleep a hotel?
When you see the Chicago and Indiana sign - always go to Indiana.
I Was Born in Chicago
Wait…I know it’s been a while since I’ve been in Chicagoland, but when did they get QUIKTRIP?!!
Are you gonna drive in I-90 to Chicago and Back?
Yeah I checked out I-90
I'd rather have the milage mike car pass me than the Google maps car
16:46 what’s wrong with that one?😮
16:45 One of America's worst drivers
16:45 that was a real asshole move man
I saw legoland 3:52

33:47 Another one of America's worst drivers...why run a red light to be stopped by the one that's already red that's immediately after it?
The quintessential city of the American Midwest. Famous for its massive skyline and infamous for its crime.
