  • Tom Connors live at the Horseshoe Tavern in 1973. All of Canada was his "stompin' ground," the song says, and it's true.
Of course, this isn't my property, and I don't own any kind of rights to it.
    LYRICS
"Just take a little piece of PEI
    Old Saskatchewan
    Nova Scotia and New Brunswick
    QUÉBEC and Newfoundland
    Alberta and Manitoba
    Ontario and BC,
And you'll have found the stompin' grounds of all my friends and me."

My late father would often say:"If Stompin' Tom was an American, he'd be a millionaire". We as Canadians don't appreciate our own. At least that's the way it used to be, now, times are changing . I'm originally from North Vancouver, he wrote the song:"When the bridge came tumbling down" that was about the second narrows accident (it happened before I was around, but we learn that "19 men were drowned, so you could get to the other side, of old Vancouver town" Tom was great for teaching us Canadian History.

It’s not that we aren’t respectful of who we have as musical artists, tragically hip proves that enough, it’s just that there’s so little of us and so many of them. Today, for every Canadian, there’s 12 US citizens.

I was advised however that if he's too drunk he wont be on the plane. Priceless. Didn't matter - still played his music all was great. Management did say it was a 50/50 chance he was going to attend - might as well take the chance.

Ano Elegance: I absolutely disagree with you. That blond-haired, middle-aged woman looked like she was choked up with emotion and the rest of the crowd looks as if they were hanging on Stompin' Tom's words. I was lucky enough to attend two of Stompin' Tom's concerts in Red Deer, Alberta, and I know for a fact that NO ONE was bored or as Daniel Kling said, "falling asleep". Just because an audience doesn't jump up and down and scream and yell doesn't mean they are not enjoying the music.

I love stompin Tom Connors songs, my favorite are My Stompin Grounds, Spud The Bud, The hockey song. My absolute favorite would have to be Bud The Spud because it represents my home and the potatoes grown there.

WWE Stomping Grounds on June 23 better use this as the official theme song of the pay-per-view, otherwise I’m not ordering the event at all!
