When the Fukurodani dynamic isn’t Bokuto carrying, it’s carrying Bokuto 😂💀
IKR LOL 🤣
It's why Bokuto needs to adopt all his kids from Karasuno all his kouhai in Fukurodani is like "no"
@@seekittycat “We’re already dealing with you and if you’re the mature one in that group, we wouldn’t be able to handle it”
but unfortunately they cant lose bokuto
The whole soundtrack was composed for this show by Yuki Hayashi and Asami Tachibana, and they don't mess around.
While it's true that Yuki Hayashi has created some of the more memorable soundtrack pieces, a fair bit of the background music and character pieces are composed by Asami Tachibana too. Their work is pretty evenly distributed so it would be unfair to forget one!
Yeah, and I would like to emphasize HE DOESN'T MESS AROUND, DAMN.
@@veraserah didn't know that, edited for those who also didn't knew, thanks :)
Boy I use Yuki Hayashi's music as workout music. That shit slaps!

The scene with nishinoya, tanaka, and tora is just them scaring off other dudes to make sure no one hits on kiyoko. Also, noya is the leader because out of the three of them kiyoko slapped him so he's the strongest ? lol

Quote Victoria "I thought there was gonna be practices and stuff..."
First half of season 2: "Am I a joke to you?"
lol she def meant home gym practices amongst the team of course
Also there Will be more practice between August qualifiers and october pteliminaries, so She Will have some more
honestly some of the time skips in haikyuu is crazy
@@borhulo9521 There's barely any. In the episode they say they're going practically straight into the preliminaries.
@@vailingbow1068 it usually skips a lot of mundane everyday practices and skips through the schooling to the next big events of the volleyball aspect and that’s why you usually don’t feel it unless you wonder about the other stuff. If you watch Haikyuu purely for the volleyball you won’t notice a lot of them because it’s usually just their mundane lives and it’s like a week or two at a time at most.
I love how you say that you wish the backstories were after the games, but I can clearly see how the backstories affect your reaction to the game itself! Karasuno was dominating, but you looked so sad for the other team and were cheering on #1 from Ohgiminami when he broke out of his fixed mindset! The emotional impact wouldn't have been the same with the backstory happening after the game. I just love how Haikyuu!! makes everyone have empathy for and a connection with minor characters whose role in the narrative is to be defeated by Karasuno.

I know that having the backstory during the game can be frustrating. But remember that knowing the backstory makes the game so much more impactful. This last episode was the perfect example. Had we not known that that team had lost a similar game because of a lack of effort, the little bit of effort shown at the end would not have meant nearly as much. You said at that last point, “I hope he gets the kill…” that is a very valid feeling, but would have likely not been there had the backstory not shown that there was a lesson to be learned.
I’m sure you know this, but it’s good to be reminded once and a while
So true!!!
You put the importance of that scene in nice and simple words. Couldn't say any better.

It's not like Bokuto is the "needy" type of MPV, he's just emotional. That means he can get caught in his own negativity but his team mates are able to say *nope* and take distance from that, when in need. They're able to run the game without relying solely on him. That's why "they lead the way"
Yeah, he can get down really easy, but he can also get pumped up really easy. He's an emotional two-edged sword.
@@doomsdayng an important thing his own teammates note is that he's never down when the rest of the team is down. When everything seems desperate for his teammates and they're starting to lose momentum, Bokuto's the one bringing the whole team up
@@mansfaye1084 I read that as in: bokuto is never discouraged by strong opponents, but by his own flaws or side stuff (namely, the main court lol) so it's not "emo bokuto" when it really matters
"who is that?" It's Tanaka acting like a Buddhist over Suga calling him out for calling the other team delinquents when in fact he himself acts like a delinquent.
Tanaka acts like a monk because his buzz cut makes him look like one. He also looks a little like the Buddha.
Whenever Tanaka acts like a monk i lose it. some of the funniest scenes are the buddha ones
ahh i feel bad for how many of the jokes went over ur head these episodes 😭 which is completely understandable considering this is your first anime. it’ll be easier to tell the more you watch, but just letting you know anytime there’s a scene where a character has a really exaggerated facial expression for example (which you saw a lot of in these two episodes) it’s meant to be for comedic purposes. just in general anytime an anime does something dramatic but lighthearted it’s meant to be some kind of joke. just as long as you keep up with the context it should become easy to understand.
I was really hoping she would rewatch some of the episodes without having to react so that she can focus more on it😔 just to get the full experience which she didn't get while reacting for us here
Tbh, i would rather suggest u watch the eng dub version instead. Becuz the dub one is hilarious. Haikyuu probably one of the best dub ver compare to other anime. Just want you to know it's totally understandable if you sometimes pause to read subtiles or go back to watch something again because you didn't understand or didn't catch what they where saying:))
1: the music is composed for the show, most of it by Yuki Hayashi and Asami Tachibana i think.
2: the thing with bokuto's eyes is the anime expression i like to call "no thoughts, head empty"
3: Tsukki doesn't want Bokuto calling him tsukki because it is a shortened version of his name and he doesn't want to acknowledge Bokuto as a friend i would guess (only yamaguchi calls him tsukki i think). It's normal to call strangers or acquaintances by last names, first names and nicknames are mostly used by close friends. also he is a salty mf who likes to keep everyone but yams at a distance:)
Actually, "Tsukki (ツッキー)" is not a mere shortening of his last name. It has a very childish, cutesy kind of ring to it, so it's understandable that he'd rather not have anyone new calling him that now that he's older.
Yes
about the players from the other team and why they look way older, delinquents are usually drawn in a rougher looking way so that's why. also, the scene where they bow to their captain is meaningful because it shows how this team of delinquents genuinely respect their former captain

To add some context to Hinata's line about "growing from the concrete": When Hinata and Kagsy first run into Ushiwaka, Ushiwaka laments that Oikawa went to Aoba Josai rather than coming to Shiratorizawa. He compares Aoba Josai to "infertile soil", and states that being there is a waste of Oikawa's talents. Hinata has a lot of respect for Aoba Josai, so his response to this is to say, "Well, if THAT team is infertile soil, then I learned this sport in the concrete." (The "and I'm STILL going to beat you" is implied)
Thanks for explaination:)

Something I always like to mention when Ohgiminami comes up is that in Haikyuu-bu (a spin-off manga from Haikyuu), they’re actually shown working harder during practice after the tournament and actively seeking out practice matches to play with other schools! So their captain’s advice and their experience in this tournament really motivated them. :) Haikyuu-bu isn’t technically canon, but I like to think that particular detail is. One thing I always love about Haikyuu is how none of the antagonists are ever demonized-at the end of the day, they’re high schoolers who love volleyball too, and it’s heartening to see them grow and do their best.

Victoria at the part where nishinoyas, tanakas, and torus faces change, it is supposed to be comedic. The animators drew the faces with a different and more serious artstyle to show how insanely serious they were even though it was about something trivial in general (people going near Kiyoko).
Actually the type of comedy in the barbecue scene that you were confused about happens a lot in other animes (anime tropes)

For those who don't know, Hinata ate pork cutlets for good luck; in Japan they like eating food with "katsu" (meaning "win) in its name, like Kit-Kat, or katsudon~
ohhhh I didn't know that, cool! thanks for sharing! :D
Okay, but I absolutely adore how comfy Victoria looks with her snacks and water at the beginning of episode 2, compared to how self-conscious she used to be about eating during a recording. It feels like she's really just enjoying herself and the show, and the commentary has gotten a lot more confident as well.
10:42 the joke there was because Daichi said "Boke", which is something Kageyama says a lot (start to pay just a little attention to everytime Kageyama is angry with Hinata, he always says "BOKE! HINATA, BOKE")
I guess it's something that can fly over your head if you have to pay attention to the subtitles AND the animation, you get used to reading faster as you watch more and more anime so you can experience everything, don't worry about it too much :v

Hey Victoria! You should do a collab reaction with Coach Donny once the both of you finish season 3!
There are 2 OVAs that happens after season 3, and its almost an obligation that if you watch one, you need to watch the other one, since they go together.
So I was thinking you could react to them together and upload one in one channel and the second one in the other's channel.
I know there is still a lot of chapters before that, but the earlier she knows, the better

We're almost to Johzenji! I doubt many pick Johzenji as their favorite team, but they are the closest approximation the the team I played on.
The whole camp they were training and practicing after they had the games
8:45 Yes! The Haikyuu soundtrack is original! They're composed by Yuki Hayashi and Asami Tachibana :) Meanwhile, the opening and ending songs are written by Japanese artists specifically for the show as well! (you should totally check out the soundtrack and share your favorite scores! We'd love to know!)
The fukurodani dynamic is interesting. They do have to pick up for bokuto and babysit him sometimes but they are also inspired by him. Bokuto is the reason their setter (Akaashi) plays volleyball. They say later that while he's on a good streak he's one of the best if not the best hitter at this age, but he's unpredictable how his mood swings.

And that setter dump was the big moment that started my love for Akaashi. He’s so pretty in that frame 😫 then he supports Bokuto and has faith in him even when he’s having trouble, I love them so much ❤️❤️
To call someone a shortened name "tsukki" instead of tsukishima is incredibly, overly friendly and usually takes months to establish in Japan. The closest analogy is if a stranger called you "Vicky" and was overly friendly. That's why tsukishima doesn't want to be called in that manner.
Its the second singing to the bathroom scene by Hinata , the first one was after the Seijo practice match in season 1 .
The new season 2 intro is next episode, I'm hyped for Victoria to see it!
I think the thing that is most interesting about how Bokuto interacts with Fukurodani is that he's dependable when he is needed, especially in a game. He's not the captain of a major powerhouse for nothing, after all. No spoilers- but when his teammates need him most to pull his weight in a game, or if someone else needs to be hyped up (like Fukurodani does back to him), he's always able to be that beacon of leadership. He's just equally emotional for himself- which is exactly why Akaashi (the setter for Fukurodani) is the perfect vice captain for the team who balances Bokuto out really well!
at around 13 mins, nishinoya is basically leading the others to protect kiyoko from other guys and apparently he’s the leader cause hes the only one ever to get slapped by kiyoko 💀💀
Usually, all the animes have original soundtrack.
Most other types of movies and series (also american) have as well
Rather than a negative type of needy player. I think Bokuto can just get caught up on his own failures. So it’s his own mistakes that put his mood down. He isn’t a player who demands everyone be at his beck and call and hype him. Rather, his amazing teammates know him very well and know how to bring him out of that negative mind set by being straight with him (like Akashi who didnt sugarcoat when Bokuto said “dont toss to me” and just said okay I will not toss to you but in the mean time, you try to calm down). This is why Fukurodani is one of my favourite teams. They’re all so funny and lovely.
When bokuto is in a slump it's easy to stop him but when the team needs him bokuto is probably the most reliable
To make things clear
Karasuno, Nekoma and Fukurodani aren't in the same prefecture, so the only way they can play against each other is if they all went to nationals
They put the background info in the middle of the game so that you have an emotional connection to the results of the game no matter who wins or loses if that makes sense. It’s so your passion for someone to win or loose will rise and fall as the game progresses.
The music is originally composed by Yuki Hayashi. I love his songs since I always get the chills listening to them. The openings and ending are by other bands.

I just love to see Victoria sitting there like a proud mom, watching Karasuno play against all those strong teams with that small smile on her face. 💜 It really just hits different when you know how they started and compare it to how good they are right now !
When Daichi was imitating Kageyama and Hinata got the chills...in America and other English speaking countries we say "bless you" when someone sneezes. Japanese don't do that. They have a fun superstition that if a person sneezes it means someone is talking about them. Lots of shows including Haikyuu use this as a background to add comedy moments like when the team talks about Oikawa or Kenma and then the scene suddenly pans to said character to briefly show them sneezing or getting the chills
"I thought there was going to be practice", thats what you have been watching this whole time these last few episodes xD
"Hinata's vertical was actually pretty easy to calculate due to the Haikyuu wiki containing many of Hinata's stats. The stats that are important is his fingertip height on his reach test which is 210cm and his running jump reach which at it's highest is 333cm. Simple math (333cm-210cm=123cm) and conversions (123cm=48.03in) show that Hinata can jump a ridiculous 48inches. This vertical would put him alongside top tier adult athletes in real life! Btw, this is a straight leg vertical jump, not a box jump." - Kyouya Kurosaki on Quora
Victoria: "I am just that good when it come to volleyball".
Victoria's Mind: "HEY HEY HEY!"
HAHAHAHAA
Ok so there has been 11 episodes of pure practice 🤣🤣🤣, its kinda adorable that she is that invested in the show that she didnt realized it
Also another thing to take into account for every other theam Karasuno is going to find. Some teams 3rd year members might have decided not to continue to this tournament. So you will see many teams that have the 3rd year members just watching from outside, or a team that is in a process of rebuilding themselves, trying new members, trying new styles.
In the case of Karasuno, Suga, Daichi, Asahi and Shimizu decided to stay, so nothing has changed in that sense for the team.
44:43- It actually can't be Lev. Nekoma is a Tokyo team, so they are currently only playing in the Tokyo qualifying matches. If they pass, they go on to Nationals and face the best teams in the country.
Karasuno is a school in the Miyagi prefecture. Only one team in Miyagi can move on to Nationals (think of it like 1 school in a state is able to move on). This is why so much emphasis is placed on Ushijima's team- Shiratorizawa. Shiratorizawa is almost always the winner of the Miyagi preliminaries meaning they are always the ones to move to Nationals while everyone else is eliminated in the Miyagi qualifiers.
Without both teams passing their respective qualifiers, Nekoma and Karasuno cannot play each other like they want to.
Adding on- Tokyo can send 3 representatives to Nationals this year. Usually its two, but because they're hosting, they get an additional slot. They don't explain this very well in the anime, so its worth mentioning.
The anime has their own soundtracks. Opening(OP) and Ending(ED) songs of the anime is usually by an artiste that collabs with the anime. The anime producers uses the artiste's song and shortens it to the TV size version for the anime from the Original version song.
I didn't realized that Sakusa was the no. 1 Ace. I guess that's my fault for not rewatching after finishing season 4.
None of the top 3 ace rankings are in order and the order is not revealed either in the show or the manga. So for all intents and purposes, either Ushijima, Sakusa or Kiryu could be No. 1.
@@adheeshghosh7440 Its not so much that we werent told, but more so that theres no way to rank them that way. Each person has different skills- if we ranked them by which team won, Aran would be in the top 3 instead of the top 5. Kiryuu and Ushijima are both strength based spikers, while Sakusa uses tools more. So you can't exactly rank them definitively. Also they probably change day by day.
Lol, you will learn that the bathroom is a sacred place for Hinata's interactions 🤣
i thought I could share this but I just started practicing with my high school's volleyball team a few weeks ago. Your videos really help!!
Hair (both color and/or shape), particularly in anime is often a narrative device, and in Haikyuu is used plenty of times. Is way easier to remember a character that has some distinctive feature (like the weird hair ponytail that wears the former captain of Ohgi Minami, the team of chapter 12). And when you don't have much time to introduce and make memorable a character by other means, but you need viewers to quickly recognize someone because it's important for the story, giving them something very distinctive and memorable (again, usually related to hair) is the easiest way.
GIRL you're not the only one waiting I'VE BEEN WAITING T_T! I love the BBQ episode sooo much!!! And youtube why didn't this show up in my rec what? Either way I'm hereee can't hold this triple H away
ik all of us haikyuu homies thought abt the same thing/ep/scene when she mentioned an injury lol
Everyone: Tanaka nice kill
Me: *cries in manga*
That's how anime works though. If they have a new move, they will show a backstory of how they train for that. So if they suddenly used a move that they can't do before you're not going to say "He can do that all along? Why can't he do that before."
Same for the backstories in Haikyuu, everyone has their own story and these backstories setup earned character moments in the show. We learn their motivation, their hardships, and how they want to conquer it. It's a storytelling technique. Besides, to me the author wants us to root for every team to do good even if Karasuno is our team.
I sprained my ankle yesterday and just got out of my first physical therapy session and when I saw this I forgot all about my ankle and was overjoyed to see that Victoria posted, you light up my days and give me a reason to look at the light of things, and I’m pretty sure other people agree with me on this ☺️
PLZ I WAS LITERALLY WAITING FOR THIS
Every anime has an original soundtrack. I´ve never heard of an anime that uses music that wasn´t made specifically for the anime, but if someone knows of an exception please let me know below
Jojo
There are plenty of examples where an anime uses a cover of a famous piece. The most obvious would be musical anime like Shigatsu. In Madoka, they also make extensive use of Gounod/Bach's Ave Maria.
I'm sure there are more but I've never really paid close attention.
@@vdinh143 I was actually talking more bgm wise, but I understand what u mean
@@vdinh143 even covers of public domain classical pieces are made for that anime though, not just recorded beforehand and then used with license. that's what 'original soundtrack' means lol
@@AllTheArtsy of course, a public domain piece of music doesn't come with performance, which on its own is copyrighted. It's probably cheaper to just produce the music along with the rest of the audio than license from various existing performances.
Although I interpreted Vic's question to be in the spirit of compositional originality and not the technicality of film-making.
Gonna rapid fire some answers to questions you've had
1. The music is original to the series. The openings are original as well but written and performed by actual bands so the songs themselves are kinda like singles.
2. The weird animation style changes for Nishinoya and the others was just fir comedy, to make them look scary and imposing to ward off other guys from hitting on Kiyoko.
3. Japan has a very strong sense of respect towards others especially when it comes to names and honorifics, so when Tsukki told Bokuto not to call him "Tsukki," it was because he didnt feel as though Bokuto is close enough to him to use a nickname and no honorific like "san." Even most of Karasuno players refer to him as Tsukishima despite being much more familiar with him than Bokuto.
4. Something to remember is that the series is originally a weekly serialized manga. There is a lot of expectations placed on weekly manga to keep a steady pace and flow of action for the readers, and so while a few episodes of the camp feels like a short time, in actuality that was probably 3-5 months of weekly chapters that were building up to this tournament, if they followed up the camp with more practice then the pace would've probably felt super slow for weekly readers and possibly lost the interest of those who weren't die hard fans.
ROLL THE TAPE! lmao I love your reactions girl, keep it up!
