ANA has good reviews but I haven’t flown with them yet. I would consider them for a good deal. EVA Airlines is also a great airline I flew them last year to Asia and it was an amazing experience. Does ANA have a premium economy?
They do have Premium Economy. It does cost quite a bit more, kinda midway between economy and business. But the Premium Economy they have is not just "extra legroom" like US-based carriers. It is a completely different seat. It is more like Premium Economy on Air Canada or other Asian airlines.

@@goodra999 It was fine. The reason for the "sliding forward seat" is to not disturb the passenger behind you. So you are basically sacrificing legroom for recline. It may be a bit annoying at first but then if you want to use laptops or something you don't have the passenger in front of you suddenly reclining and backing into your device.
G7X is by far lighter and fits in your pocket, with the caveat being WAY worse sound quality and slightly worse image quality. The M50 is actually pretty light for a mirrorless and I love the external mic. I enjoy having both, so in certain situations I can just use the little camera (the airplane, i walked on with it to look less noticeable). If i had to choose just one for the same cost, i'd go with the M50 b.c there's just so much more you can do with it. But if you want something you can just stick in your pocket and is super super easy, get the G7X mark 2
Friggin awesome customer service. The Japanese really put in 110% of their effort into their work. Unlike some other airlines (*cough cough* Azores Airlines) that will aggressively tell you to put the camera away.

Actually the seats going down instead of reclining is a good idea. I never recline my seat unless nobody is sitting behind me. With those seats it seems that I would not take away space from the person behind me at all.

The seatback not reclining, only the seat slides forward thing is a new design on some Asian 777's. China Airlines of Taiwan has a similar design. It's more a courtesy for the passenger sitting behind. Most passengers have their seatbacks so far back it's in the poor passenger's face, that's the intent of this design. Most folks hate this design, but just imagine if you are the victim of an inconsiderate passenger in front of you, then you'll learn to appreciate this design!
I've never had a seat that reclines back so far that it's in the way of the person behind me. That and seriously a 10+ hour flight we should all be on the same page that reclining is very much appreciated.
I had being the person behind so much. Most of the time when I ask politely to just go forward a little bit people call a stewardess on me! Its not nice to have the screen just 5 inches away from you and not be able to bend down if you have to.
@@nikoletaskandali2049 you guys must be on different flights than I was. Lat flights I took everyone was reclined and the screen wasn't that close to my face... Of course that might be because I was reclined too. Sitting up straight for a 13-15 hour flight is dumb.

Pretty great to see someone reviewing the economy class. Usually most reviews you will find are either Business class or Premium Economy... And yes, ANA customer service is the best. I've flown with them twice from Australia to Japan and they never disappoint me.
I'm in the Air Force and received my orders to Yokota AFB; going in late June. Thankfully, the military booked me and my family on an ANA flight from Sea-Tac to Narita, 9 hr. flight. Flown ANA quite a few times, always impressed by the cleaniness of the aircraft and the services. Love my Sake with my Japanese meals. IIRC, all my flights on ANA, the meals came with chopsticks.
Just flew ANA from Germany to Tokyo in the 787 yesterday in economy class. A few months ago I did Tokyo to London in economy on JAL also on their 787. I'd have to say JAL were better. ANA are consistently more expensive than most other airlines and are apparently a 5-star airline. I just couldn't see how. Granted, I wasn't flying business, but their business class sears were pretty similar to other Star Alliance business seats. Their premium economy seats were almost identical to the economy ones and weren't even in their own little curtained-off section. My biggest gripe with ANA has to be the price and the product itself. Other carriers offer the same and/or better for much less. The attendants were ok, but were very unconfident using English and just seemed a bit inexperienced overall. Seats were narrow but my biggest problem with the seats were how the screens couldn't be adjusted if the person in front of you reclined. Why would ANA leave out such a basic, common sense feature? The guy in front of me reclined his seat very early on so I couldn't see what I was watching. Then there's the inflight entertainment itself. This was definitely the weakest part of ANA's product. There was very little choice when compared to other airlines. Outside of a few new releases, there weren't many English movies to choose from. The TV shows section was very limited in terms of English shows. ANA 's inflight entertainment is very Japanese heavy with about two thirds of it being Japanese only content. I've lived in Japan a long time and Japanese TV is something I look forward to getting away from. If I'd known ANA were like this, I'd have brought more of my own entertainment. Overall, they're "just ok" in my opinion. Again, as someone who's lived in Japan a long time, I realised afterwards that they probably rate so highly with Japanese customers is because they offer a very Japanese product and experience. Service is competent but impersonal, the cabin is clean (but cabins should always be clean) but not flashy, food and drinks are very Japanese, and the entertainment is what Japanese people are used to on TV. Great if you're Japanese, but kind of lacking in some areas if you're not. I also suspect that a lot of their praise from non Japanese customers comes from Americans used to the awful service and quality that is typical of US carriers. Seriously, anything is better than your typical US-based airline. If you're going to choose a Japanese carrier, I'd recommend JAL over ANA. JAL seem to be a bit better at catering to non-Japanese customers for a better price.
I have an up coming trip in July 2019 from Houston to Narita and Narita to Ho Chi Minh City with ANA in business class. This will be my first time flying with them and I'm really excited. Great review.

I LOVE All Nippon international flights especially. Economy class is leaps and bounds better than anyone else traveling to and from the US. You can't even get a bottle of water from United
Love flying to Haneda instead of Narita just because I possess a Suica card ( which I personalized in case I misplace it or lose it ) so I can take the Monorail to Hamamatsucho, then the Yamanote line to Shibuya. The Suica card is quite versatile, can use on vending machines, Lawsons, 7-11s, so on. And with the Olympics coming in 2020, they are expanding the usage of the card. I've flown ANA on several occasions and can tell you they are indeed the best Airline to fly directly to Tokyo Haneda. It may cost me a little more, but the tradeoff of Haneda instead of Narita is well worth it IMO

I was about to ask you about the seat. Yes they don’t recline backwards but rather the piece you sit on instead moves forwards. I just did a long haul flight on ANA and I didn’t get any sleep either.
That scene was filmed with the m50 , i mixed in both cameras (on the plane i didn't want to be obvious in certain spots). I think maybe b.c the mic slot thing came out while i was walking.. just a theory. How are you liking the m50?
Suntori beer is very good, milder tasting than Kirin beer and not as strong. If you flew with Singapore Airlines they only have business class and premium economy. Also they are higher rated and cheaper than ANA.

I think ist a new seat design ANA tried out with the non-reclinging seats... That way it doesnt disturb the passenger behind you at all... But of Course its a matter of taste and I think most of People would still prefer normally reclinging seats… A mix would actually be cool...

The only problem with ANA is that the seat cushions are pretty thin, so your ass starts hurting after a while. I've flown with them about 20times so I have a lot of experience. JAL has way wider seats and thicker seat cushions. Just flew them for the first time a couple months ago.
I agree, but JAL seats are pretty thin, too. My ass started to hurt as well, lol. So being both a pain in the ass, I prefer ANA because JAL seats are noticeable older and worn out. Or maybe it was only for the Japan-North America flights I took?

American express gives you the shittiest point conversion unto any airline credit except Delta. I worked in the membership rewards department and that CCP should have told you how much money you were getting screwed out of. Your second best option could have been booking through Expedia with your points and in some cases saving your points and spending your money directly through the airline. If you fly a lot then just get that card that gives you the most point value towards travel that I forgot what it's called, and without that dumb annual fee for one of the two options if I remember correctly.

Flying into Haneda is so much better and closer and much more affordable! It's one of the best-kept secrets flying to Japan.
Flying to that airport seems to be more expensive flying from Florida :( but it may be worth considering how much closer it is to the city than Narita
Actually the seats going down instead of reclining is a good idea. I never recline my seat unless nobody is sitting behind me. With those seats it seems that I would not take away space from the person behind me at all.

It's a tough job but somebody has to do it.
The seatback not reclining, only the seat slides forward thing is a new design on some Asian 777's. China Airlines of Taiwan has a similar design. It's more a courtesy for the passenger sitting behind. Most passengers have their seatbacks so far back it's in the poor passenger's face, that's the intent of this design. Most folks hate this design, but just imagine if you are the victim of an inconsiderate passenger in front of you, then you'll learn to appreciate this design!
I've never had a seat that reclines back so far that it's in the way of the person behind me. That and seriously a 10+ hour flight we should all be on the same page that reclining is very much appreciated.
I had being the person behind so much. Most of the time when I ask politely to just go forward a little bit people call a stewardess on me! Its not nice to have the screen just 5 inches away from you and not be able to bend down if you have to.
@@nikoletaskandali2049 you guys must be on different flights than I was. Lat flights I took everyone was reclined and the screen wasn't that close to my face... Of course that might be because I was reclined too. Sitting up straight for a 13-15 hour flight is dumb.

I'm in the Air Force and received my orders to Yokota AFB; going in late June. Thankfully, the military booked me and my family on an ANA flight from Sea-Tac to Narita, 9 hr. flight. Flown ANA quite a few times, always impressed by the cleaniness of the aircraft and the services. Love my Sake with my Japanese meals. IIRC, all my flights on ANA, the meals came with chopsticks.

Just flew ANA from Germany to Tokyo in the 787 yesterday in economy class. A few months ago I did Tokyo to London in economy on JAL also on their 787. I'd have to say JAL were better. ANA are consistently more expensive than most other airlines and are apparently a 5-star airline. I just couldn't see how. Granted, I wasn't flying business, but their business class sears were pretty similar to other Star Alliance business seats. Their premium economy seats were almost identical to the economy ones and weren't even in their own little curtained-off section.
My biggest gripe with ANA has to be the price and the product itself. Other carriers offer the same and/or better for much less. The attendants were ok, but were very unconfident using English and just seemed a bit inexperienced overall. Seats were narrow but my biggest problem with the seats were how the screens couldn't be adjusted if the person in front of you reclined. Why would ANA leave out such a basic, common sense feature? The guy in front of me reclined his seat very early on so I couldn't see what I was watching.
Then there's the inflight entertainment itself. This was definitely the weakest part of ANA's product. There was very little choice when compared to other airlines. Outside of a few new releases, there weren't many English movies to choose from. The TV shows section was very limited in terms of English shows. ANA 's inflight entertainment is very Japanese heavy with about two thirds of it being Japanese only content. I've lived in Japan a long time and Japanese TV is something I look forward to getting away from. If I'd known ANA were like this, I'd have brought more of my own entertainment.
Overall, they're "just ok" in my opinion. Again, as someone who's lived in Japan a long time, I realised afterwards that they probably rate so highly with Japanese customers is because they offer a very Japanese product and experience. Service is competent but impersonal, the cabin is clean (but cabins should always be clean) but not flashy, food and drinks are very Japanese, and the entertainment is what Japanese people are used to on TV. Great if you're Japanese, but kind of lacking in some areas if you're not. I also suspect that a lot of their praise from non Japanese customers comes from Americans used to the awful service and quality that is typical of US carriers. Seriously, anything is better than your typical US-based airline. If you're going to choose a Japanese carrier, I'd recommend JAL over ANA. JAL seem to be a bit better at catering to non-Japanese customers for a better price.
I wish ANA would fly to Northern Ireland and I would certainly use them as they are a grand airline.

Love flying to Haneda instead of Narita just because I possess a Suica card ( which I personalized in case I misplace it or lose it ) so I can take the Monorail to Hamamatsucho, then the Yamanote line to Shibuya. The Suica card is quite versatile, can use on vending machines, Lawsons, 7-11s, so on. And with the Olympics coming in 2020, they are expanding the usage of the card. I've flown ANA on several occasions and can tell you they are indeed the best Airline to fly directly to Tokyo Haneda. It may cost me a little more, but the tradeoff of Haneda instead of Narita is well worth it IMO

Suntori beer is very good, milder tasting than Kirin beer and not as strong. If you flew with Singapore Airlines they only have business class and premium economy. Also they are higher rated and cheaper than ANA.

I think ist a new seat design ANA tried out with the non-reclinging seats... That way it doesnt disturb the passenger behind you at all... But of Course its a matter of taste and I think most of People would still prefer normally reclinging seats… A mix would actually be cool...

The only problem with ANA is that the seat cushions are pretty thin, so your ass starts hurting after a while. I've flown with them about 20times so I have a lot of experience. JAL has way wider seats and thicker seat cushions. Just flew them for the first time a couple months ago.

I agree, but JAL seats are pretty thin, too. My ass started to hurt as well, lol. So being both a pain in the ass, I prefer ANA because JAL seats are noticeable older and worn out. Or maybe it was only for the Japan-North America flights I took?

American express gives you the shittiest point conversion unto any airline credit except Delta. I worked in the membership rewards department and that CCP should have told you how much money you were getting screwed out of. Your second best option could have been booking through Expedia with your points and in some cases saving your points and spending your money directly through the airline.
If you fly a lot then just get that card that gives you the most point value towards travel that I forgot what it's called, and without that dumb annual fee for one of the two options if I remember correctly.
