This song literally changed music forever. It's the best selling 12" single of all time.
et le moins rentable ^^
Crazy. I didn’t know this. I thought it was a long-forgotten hidden gem until Orgy resurrected it.
What is 12"? What does 12" mean?
@@MaleOrderBride 12 inches, it’s how big the vinyl is, for instance a 7” is a single
@@jacobrayner6985 what is a "vinyl"?
Takes me back to my 80's years, was a delight seeing your expression change as you got into it. Impossible not to dance to.
Huuuuuu huuuuu🎵🎵🎶🎶
I’m a metal head and I think this is one of the greatest songs of all time.
Edit: and I fell all over myself trying to click on this. Couldn’t do it fast enough!
If you haven't heard orgy's version, they do a decent heavy /emo version. Not quite metal but heavy than the original
@@jszordan I heard it. I found it to be mediocre. It’s missing something.
The moment when the synth line comes in at 1.06 and you break into that beautiful smile means only one thing - you are well and truly hooked! An absolute game-changer of a track and a joy to watch you experience it for the first time! :) x
She really does have a beautiful smile 😍
I love her reaction at that point! You can tell she really loved it!
To me this still has a modern vibe even if nearly 40 years old. Back in the 80s, 40 year old music sounded really old.
I guess you guys aren't ready for that, yet. But your kids are gonna love it.
Out of all the reaction channels out there, you are by far the best and most genuine. I can see in your face how I felt 70s & 80s when I first heard them. I get to re-live those moments again.
You’re so sweet and you have the most amazingly gorgeous eyes I’ve ever seen. Take care.
Thank you so much 👍
They started in 1978 as joy division and when the lead singer died they became new order and became one of the best selling groups they sold the most 12 inch albums sell all time
They actually formed before that as Warsaw.
1977 they begin
I think the kitchen sink got thrown at this song, it's ace.
In 1984 in my last year of high school in New Zealand we used this as the backing track to a road safety we made for a competition and managed to win.
Classic. Kicks equally hard in the biggest clubs or the tiniest headphones. Along with Giorgio Moroder, this was the moment when machine sounds became beautiful...
remember Kraftwerk ? ;-)
@@19Darshan63 I do. And I did. :) (We miss Florian.)
I was hoping somebody would pick that one up, and--- OK, nobody would ever describe Kraftwerk as being as "gritty" (nice word) as Suicide or Silver Apples. But by comparison, they also weren't as deliberately *pretty* as Moroder. (Don't get me wrong; I'm not at all saying there's not beauty in Kraftwerk, especially "Autobahn"...)
1980 then they released it in 88. So ahead of its time. #1 selling single in Europe still today. Every club played it in the 1980s all over the world.
Personally I don't think they should have bothered. You can't mess with a masterpiece
83
83 mate
@@andyjames6300 👍
@@Alpha_7227 Indeed, the '88 version, is inferior to the original.
To think they wrote and played this from scratch - no computers, ipads - pro tools. Magnificence. Work of Art
Back when you needed to know how to sing and play instruments.
they used sequencers which kept everything in time
@@Skiptondesigns I don't think they even had sequencers back then, reason I say that is because they sounded really bad live and couldn't replicate some of their songs live. These days totally different case of course.
They even hired a scientific to have their own MIDI language to perform this. Mindblowing.
SYNTH"S baby! lol this runs back time a little. Blue Monday in the original sleeve was die cut with silver inside the sleeve. It was so costly they lost money each time they sold one lol.
I remember when this came out, I was in the Air Force and this was FIRE at dance clubs! No computers, amazing in its time! Still better than anything you dance to here now in 2021....hands down!
This was in every DJ's play list or mix in the 80's. I was a club kid then and this was one of those bangers that got people on the floor.
80s music was so fun to dance to!
Thankyou for letting us watch you how you reacted to this song. I’m sure we all danced to this song back in the 80s any and every club was playing this song and it really got the party started. And I have to say your beautiful outfit and your beauty even made it that much better watching you react to this song so Thankyou this was special.
Your happy and beautiful wide smile was perfectly fitting to the feelings I still have whenever I hear this masterpiece of a song. It was a part of my childhood and I think it was one of the songs that layed the foundations of my taste in music. Thank you for listening and reacting to it. :-)
Your facial expressions throughout this are a joy to behold. Thank goodness for wide-screen, because your smile fills it... for dayssss!
A great reaction 👍
This was great! Very well done. I enjoyed this! Thanks Empress!
I was laughing so hard when you paused it literally just before the vocals came in and said "it's two minutes in and there's no voice" lol
😂 Back to my Commodore 64 computer days 😂 Thanks, I really appreciate it 🙂🙏
I had totally forgotten about this song, thank you for reminding me that its out there! I love watching your videos, your smile when you first get into a song is amazing
It's quite a dark, moody song...but uplifting at the same time.
The 80's were the best days. Empress what a great choice x
You bet
This music 🎼 is pure bass , sound great 👍🏻 I love it.
The best selling 12" single of all time. I will always love this song from my teens.
Love the 80’s! Love this song and love Empress!
For sure you need to be at a club on the dance floor when hearing this song!! Great reaction really fun vibe awesome Empress!! you took me back to the clubs in the 80s :)
great reaction video.. u have a beautiful smile... hope u smile a lot throughout ur day.... Neway look forward to watching more reactions on ur channel.
The smile when the beat drops, yes!!
Manchester tuneee!
This might be the best song you ever heard, it's certainly the best song I ever heard. x
Every night club, strip club & bar in the 80s-90s played this or a remix
I love watching first reactions to this, Blue Monday remains one of the great tracks, even after soooo long. Like Colin says, best selling 12" of all time, changed music. Just awesome seeing new fans, hope you enjoy more New Order and Joy Division!
Difficult to find people who know or like these guys, even years ago. Love it !
This track could start a rave in a take away shop
Fantastic reactions.
This song was also used as theme tunes to a TV program called the clothes show . The instruments in the song were probably a lot less than you would think .
In many respects, the quintessential 80s dance tune. Really takes me back... this and Situation by Yaz are time warps.
If your looking for songs Level 42 Lessons in love is a good song from the 80's but not as big as Blue Monday. A really big hit from the 80's dance is A E I O U and sometimes Y by Freeze.
I love this song, and I love your skin tone, your background is really pretty, God 🙏 bless you from America with love.
Live your reaction. This was and still is what I listen too. First heard this in 1986 when i was 17. Thd 80s club scene had the best Impactful music.
My first time hearing it was In a club back in 83-84
That first big smile ss the beat dropped, 👍🏼was my like.
This pisses over anything in 2021 a masterpiece from 1983 again the 80s rules.
it pisses over anything hip hop as well.
Your smile says it all 😂😂 😘😘
New Order was created out of a tradgedy. They started as Joy Division wich among professional musicians is hold as one of the pioneers in changing the music industry completely. Singer Ian Curtis suffered from depression and took his on life. Rest of the crew continued as New Order. When all this happened I had been a Joy Division fan for years and when Blue Monday was released it hit me and the rest of the world like a ton of bricks! The memories of dance nights to this tune in clubs in Copenhagen and Berlin will follow me into the grave!
What a smile and absolutely gorgeous, love from Scotland
That big beautiful smile said it all. Best reaction I've seen.
Love, love love !!!!
Very expressive face taking in every little detail. I've watched 8 reactions to this now and yours is by far my favourite :) Big love from the UK!
Thank you ❤️
What a musical journey with one single song.
That song could play forever and no one would mind
Such a great song indeed
You are soooooo cute when the rhythm actually kicked in ❤️ lol
I feel love, released 1977, Sung by Donna Summer, music created by the Father of electronic dance music Giorgio Moroder.
A timeless masterpiece that defines a decade and a generation. A permanent fixture amongst the greatest of all time.
Every day more beautiful! A big greeting from Venezuela!
You're so right...❤
You stopped right b4 the vocals lol, love from Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪😂
Oh. And hear it loud in a niteclub unbelievable, so many sounds, beats, and Peter hook playing Clint Eastwood on the guitar.. Classic
This song is always fun at clubs - basically people with a natural talent for or training in music stands out as the only ones that changes their style of dance with the music.
New Order also has the excellent song "Sub-culture", well worth a listen (they also have "Bizarre Love Triangle" for something even more mellow).
Parabéns, a tua reação deixa a gente emocionado, adoro New Order.
I love your reaction to this masterpiece.
What was it like in the clubs? I can smell the dry ice and sweat!
Sounds just as fresh today and its nearly 40 years old, which makes me feel old because I was 18 when it came out...
Brasil 🇧🇷🙋♂️

The power of synthesizers (and some sweetness from Mr. Marr). Welcome to my world.
Great choice. Still an electronic icon 38 years later.
Quintessential 80s vibe.. Huge at the dance clubs.. "Bizarre Love Triangle", "Perfect Kiss", "True Faith", and "Ceremony" (Fave) all New Order.. Great reaction!! #Cool
If you ever go to a club that’s having and 80s night, they always play this song. It’s so fun to dance to 😊
It came out in 1983, still sounds fresh today.
Welcome to the sound of the U.K./Ireland in the late 80’s early 90’s
Once again awesome 80s
my first thought - Ready player one ! :D
Legendary track in England to this very day, from the 90’s!! Please review possibly the best electronic track of the 80’s - Visage and Fade to Grey. I think you’ll love it.
Blue Monday is a masterwork by New Order.....
big hit back whni was young n on v dance floor, even now vis ole song still gets played at clubs ive heard. came out in bout 81 was rereleased in lte 80s n became another hit. liked ur smile whn v synths came in. haha u paused it a micro second b4 v vocal started i tink?
A remix of this was featured in the Wonder Woman 1984 movie trailer.
My all time fav song from 1983
Great memories of crazy nights at the Astoria in London! A real floor filler and one of the greatest records ever made.
Chasers in Melbourne Australia also
My favorite song when I was a teen.
This is soooooooo goooood early early 80s NEW WAVE!!!! try joy division too that band was in the same era..btw this song will be stuck in your head all day if you jsut listen to it once lol
Classic \m/
I find it interesting that most people don't notice that the keyboard line through the intro changes all the time.
Babies have been made while this song played. 😂
Empress Joy-Jean, when you've lived with Blue Monday for almost 40 years like I have, it's hard to remember how confusing and alien this song might sound to a first-time listener. For a DJ, Blue Monday is still pretty much as close to a surefire floor-filler as you can get. On any continent.
Instruments? Drum machine, synthesizers, bass guitar.
Next New Order banger? Bizarre Love Triangle. Or maybe True Faith. There are *many*.
The JOY on your face. . . Beautiful! You would have been a star at the club in the 80's
Had me thinking of a James Bond car chase with the rhythm and pick up
Proper Manc tune. 1983. United won the cup, this filled dance floors, you still hear it played in bars. I still have the 12 inch. Original sleeve. Manchester's finest
Carefull there its rly addictive tune especially after some time, IT has got this... This
Lovely jubley
Random fact: the bass line is copied from the soundtrack to Clint Eastwood's Western For A Few Dollars More (one of the sequels to the Good the Bad and the Ugly).
You should try Bizarre Love Triangle,State of the Nation and Everything's Gone Green in a quiet moment
Ceremony, Temptation also - their music inspires so many young bands now from England and Australia. They just released a song Rebel last year during lockdown, which proves they can still come up with a great tune
As a die hard New Order fan, your smile at 1:07 means a lot to me. 😍
I could see from your lovely expression you loved the song, they were huge in the 80s one of my favourite bands sheer class, they were joy division until the singer died unfortunately then became new order, they had countless hit songs,if you can, play True Faith another monster hit for them I'm sure you will like pure 80s gold, sorry but then and now are two different planets love your videos ,keep safe and stay well..
Techno from 1983! I loved them when they came out!
❤️
How we did it!!!!! Better recognize
Confused to happy 😂
