Thanks for doing this, I opened 10 crates at the half price with some spare crystgin and got the green cradle I wanted, the pyro ornament and the pyro weapon skin so while not the bike everybody wants, I was pretty happy with those items and no real duplicates: I think I’ll skip the rest though. If this had a secondary market then these items would be super rare later and potentially worth putting $300 into as resale later could be in the thousands. Without that, it’s just funky cosmetics.
Yeah, even something as simple as Rust, weekly skins, made by community and approved by the company, company takes a cut, steam takes a cut, creator gets ~40%. Players go nuts for skins, marketplace traders buy stacks of skins hoping for them to appreciate in value and no one feels like they've had their trousers pulled down.
My tip for things like this are, if you enjoy the game, with it being live service and f2p, purchase the odd cosmetic if you like. one or two a year is fair, but ones you know what you're getting, say for your fav weapon. usually you have coins left over from whatever you got, so just keep those for these lucky roll crates. eventually you'll get lucky and it'll never cost you extra. that's the best way of dealing with these microtransactions.
im 60 deep and will go tomorrow 150 deeper. BUT i also have close to 500hrs in the game play in a big hive and we are all excited for the new season. I Enjoy the game every second. Ergo love supporting the devs even with little money!
I'm really glad I don't like the cosmetics in this game. They went crazy from the start into all these neon monstrosities and overloaded skins, that's why I'm very happy with my Sherlock costume, which happens to be one of the cheapest :D Well and most importantly, I'm totally cool with it, as long as gacha can be bypassed to buy legendary weapons, cosmetics are still cosmetics

This is the same thing Path of Exile did when they came out with loot boxes, except there was no guarantee like Once Human has. It was just infinite dupes. This is closer to the new system Path of Exile uses for the loot boxes now as you will eventually get everything.

Since the games has no localized values, it gets worse when you live in a country where the money is drastically undervaluated compared to dollars, here in brazil, in a direct conversion, without bank taxes for international purchases, it would be R$1160,28, assuming that one would get the same amount as you (U$212,35 ). Remember that the minimum wage here is R$1412,00. I've not spent a single penny on this game and probably would not, if the prices stay this high.
I really enjoy Once Human and have spent money on the game for things like outfits, skins, battle passes, and building cosmetics. However, I can't handle a gacha loot crate system. I easily fall victim to these kinds of games, and I'll admit it-I have a gambling addiction. It's not easy to break free from it. Because of this, I don't think I can continue playing the game, so I'm quitting early while I still can. Please, everyone, don’t be like me. I did the same but I was very luck with my first half price 10x as I got the Axe, ak and outfit set I knew my odds where really good to get the others which I got in everything after 40x boxes. Iv never done loot boxes before in any game and have now banned myself from ever doing so as I could feel the need to just get a couple more for a skin. It was scary how fast it makes you overspend and even when you have it that feeling of worth and satisfaction gos so much faster than if you grinded out a hard dungeon with a 10% or so loot chance. I was willing to spend £50 tops for the game as it is free and iv gotten my time out of it so it earned my support so less was a plus but I now having first hand felt what its like to roll £ for loot I really believe it should be illegal to pray on gamers like that, lord knows what that feeling is like for someone who is susceptible to gambling/cant afford it. Your video I feel shows this and is excellent in giving the all the facts pros and cons. The free game defence is always said by those no longer playing for free. I wanted to support this game, i enjoy it. However. A battle pass, premium battle pass, a premium store, a subscription, and lootboxes. Not only is this pure greed, but it is a form of manipulation to confise players into purchasing. If you dont believe me, google it. We've been having this argument for years, but it was developers at conferences themselves who laid all this out. The second argument is always, "well its not as bad as x game..." Okay and? 😂 It's all bad. The third argument is, "Well, you know you're just broke. If you can't afford it, dont buy it." This is daft, do you do this with everything in your life, do you buy everything in a supermarket because you can? £300 for a digital suit and a glowy bike is daft no matter how much money you have. You've lost perspective at this point, and you're being milked. The worst part is from my experience, it's always people stuggling with money wasting it like this.
I too have no issues with showing support to the devs who have given me hundreds of hours of playtime already. I have played the game since the second closed beta and couldn't wait for the full game to drop to show support. I am not a huge fan of the mechanic they chose to go with for these items however. After watching this video, I wanted to test it myself as I have the stability to do so comfortably. It costs me almost $300 USD to pull everything I think it was around $280 USD might have been more if I didn't use some of my shards for a 10 times pull. I could have used more of my shards but I really just wanted to see how much it might run me without them. I think the option to support the devs who love this game themselves is amazing. However, don't forget they often do not get a say in how games are monetized. Not that it makes it right just posting this as additional proof that if you feel the urge to spend to get these skins. DON'T, unless you want to pay $200-$300 USD for them that is.

you do know that the patch notes says that you can't get a duplicate item right? and there's a pity system where your chances are increased after you get a drop or some nonsense. they can absolutely say anything with their system ... but its all a big fat lie to get you spending more. but it's already game over for you as you say gacha is fine... don't be part of the problem.
i bought the first 10 with the discount and got the Character cosmetic set, got very lucky, definitely wish i could get the fire bike but chances are so slim and i don't feel like spending all my money on a chance. really wish devs would just give us shit that we can buy at a set price instead of this chance BS. also 150 opens to get everything when theres like 20 items in the chest is crazy. if theres x many items i should get them all in x many pulls
A lot of the forge stuff looks pretty cool, but i can see i'd never use them. I barely remember that i have a different skin on my motorcycle as it is, let alone alternate skins for gear or territory items.

You know what’s crazy is I was planning to spend 50$ to get that bike. I figured the game is good, and it’s free and I would have probably spent 50$ to buy the game. But now that I know how much the bike is gonna set me back I’m not paying anything at all. They are legit losing out on money. 50$ should easily be enough to get the bike AND the building cosmetic. But with prices being so I highly doubt I’ve decided instead to never buy anything in this game at all
DONT EVER GAMBLE. The smart way is just to buy directly from cash shop with a price tag on it unless if you already expect to spend 300 dollars on the skin you like through gatcha. But with the same amount of money, you can buy triple number of bundles in the cash shop happily. e.g. the beautiful glass bundle

$230 for "Premium" skins is insane. The game hasn't even finished one full season yet. At the same time, this is exactly what I expected with Netease. IMO don't reward them for shitty work. Until they fix Prime war lag, and multitude of bugs that plague the game and all the new content with the patch, don't buy the cosmetics. Lastly, I'm sorry but this isn't gambling either, as that insinuates you at least have the chance to get your money back. All you're doing is purchasing a "chance" at the cosmetics you want and as you stated, paying the maximum in most cases.

Cash items by gacha is different than in game items by free gacha. I rather spent 40 dollars for a skin than playing gacha like this. Even tho its only cosmetic, this is a huge step in the wrong direction... sad.

Fortunately, the fashion for names passes over time and becomes forgotten, and the people using them become old people.
I rarely ever spend money on games and have the funds to do so. Absolutely love ghost rider and needed the bike as I adore Once Human. Took me all 150 crates to get it. Never again. It's absolutely ridiculous.
i bought the cat and pink bakery packs for my house and the carnival outfit, and upgraded battle pass. worth it for me because i love to make my house and character cute, but i'd definitely avoid the crates.

Cosmetics arent worth anything other than what people pay for them, and some people (whales) will always pay for these items regardless of the cost, thats how these games make their money, ive spent currently 0 money on this game, and likely wont in the forseable future, and as long as monetisation stays cosmetic only, ill continue to play regardless. Not everyone will be able to get the cool shiny things the dev team makes up.

Any cosmetic that takes more than 100$ to obtain the full reward is crap. The .4% means it is impossible without reaching the 30 crate guarantee.

I really enjoy Once Human and have spent money on the game for things like outfits, skins, battle passes, and building cosmetics. However, I can't handle a gacha loot crate system. I easily fall victim to these kinds of games, and I'll admit it-I have a gambling addiction. It's not easy to break free from it. Because of this, I don't think I can continue playing the game, so I'm quitting early while I still can. Please, everyone, don’t be like me. It's terrible living without money because of games like this.

Bought 10x boxes just to see what I would get. 5x hat keychain, 2x magic cat, and some stickers. Such waste of money, no more.
I did the same but I was very luck with my first half price 10x as I got the Axe, ak and outfit set I knew my odds where really good to get the others which I got in everything after 40x boxes. Iv never done loot boxes before in any game and have now banned myself from ever doing so as I could feel the need to just get a couple more for a skin. It was scary how fast it makes you overspend and even when you have it that feeling of worth and satisfaction gos so much faster than if you grinded out a hard dungeon with a 10% or so loot chance. I was willing to spend £50 tops for the game as it is free and iv gotten my time out of it so it earned my support so less was a plus but I now having first hand felt what its like to roll £ for loot I really believe it should be illegal to pray on gamers like that, lord knows what that feeling is like for someone who is susceptible to gambling/cant afford it. Your video I feel shows this and is excellent in giving the all the facts pros and cons. Top video mate and your down to earth, humble and logically showed the only mind set people should have when considering the buy. Subscribed

The free game defence is always said by those no longer playing for free.
I wanted to support this game, i enjoy it. However. A battle pass, premium battle pass, a premium store, a subscription, and lootboxes. Not only is this pure greed, but it is a form of manipulation to confise players into purchasing. If you dont believe me, google it. We've been having this argument for years, but it was developers at conferences themselves who laid all this out.
The second argument is always, "well its not as bad as x game..." Okay and? 😂 It's all bad.
The third argument is, "Well, you know you're just broke. If you can't afford it, dont buy it." This is daft, do you do this with everything in your life, do you buy everything in a supermarket because you can? £300 for a digital suit and a glowy bike is daft no matter how much money you have. You've lost perspective at this point, and you're being milked. The worst part is from my experience, it's always people stuggling with money wasting it like this.
I too have no issues with showing support to the devs who have given me hundreds of hours of playtime already. I have played the game since the second closed beta and couldn't wait for the full game to drop to show support. I am not a huge fan of the mechanic they chose to go with for these items however. After watching this video, I wanted to test it myself as I have the stability to do so comfortably. It costs me almost $300 USD to pull everything I think it was around $280 USD might have been more if I didn't use some of my shards for a 10 times pull. I could have used more of my shards but I really just wanted to see how much it might run me without them. I think the option to support the devs who love this game themselves is amazing. However, don't forget they often do not get a say in how games are monetized. Not that it makes it right just posting this as additional proof that if you feel the urge to spend to get these skins. DON'T, unless you want to pay $200-$300 USD for them that is.
I get that you wanna support the game and i do too, but feigning ignorance over a clearly predatory and anti-consumer system like gacha in any game should never be tolerated, children play this game and many others like it. By feigning ignorance you're basically condoning underaged gambling. If this was helldivers or warframe people would be positively livid. And do i even need to mention league of legends and their $500 skin? By feigning ignorance in this all you're doing is enabling them to do more of the same.

The gacha system itself i feel like is okay, but what ISN'T OKAY IS BEING ABLE TO GET DUPLICATES WITH THOSE DUPLICATES HAVING HUGH PROBABILITIES.
If the gacha system worked like this: You cannot gain a duplicate reward.

I watched their dev streams and the devs said that it won't produce any duplicates. Now look what they've done, duplicates galore ... Hard to trust such people.

@@Antidepressiva1980 I think they said there'd be no duplicates for the Lightforge Collection e.g. the outfit, the weapons skins, the light, the bike skin etc. And not the whole lootbox having no duplicates but it still feels like misdirection, definitely since the whole Lootbox process is referred to as Lightforge. And to top it off, it actually gave me a duplicate of a Lightforge Collection item so I've raised this to Starry as problem.
you do know that the patch notes says that you can't get a duplicate item right? and there's a pity system where your chances are increased after you get a drop or some nonsense. they can absolutely say anything with their system ... but its all a big fat lie to get you spending more. but it's already game over for you as you say gacha is fine... don't be part of the problem.
i bought the first 10 with the discount and got the Character cosmetic set, got very lucky, definitely wish i could get the fire bike but chances are so slim and i don't feel like spending all my money on a chance. really wish devs would just give us shit that we can buy at a set price instead of this chance BS. also 150 opens to get everything when theres like 20 items in the chest is crazy. if theres x many items i should get them all in x many pulls

A lot of the forge stuff looks pretty cool, but i can see i'd never use them. I barely remember that i have a different skin on my motorcycle as it is, let alone alternate skins for gear or territory items.

You know what’s crazy is I was planning to spend 50$ to get that bike. I figured the game is good, and it’s free and I would have probably spent 50$ to buy the game. But now that I know how much the bike is gonna set me back I’m not paying anything at all. They are legit losing out on money. 50$ should easily be enough to get the bike AND the building cosmetic. But with prices being so I highly doubt I’ve decided instead to never buy anything in this game at all

DONT EVER GAMBLE. The smart way is just to buy directly from cash shop with a price tag on it unless if you already expect to spend 300 dollars on the skin you like through gatcha. But with the same amount of money, you can buy triple number of bundles in the cash shop happily. e.g. the beautiful glass bundle

Holy that skin is so god dam good, I know it's like games with vehicles that have this kind of theme but still look good. But I don't want to spend my money on gacha with unclear winning rates. $230 for "Premium" skins is insane. The game hasn't even finished one full season yet. At the same time, this is exactly what I expected with Netease.

Until they fix Prime war lag, and multitude of bugs that plague the game and all the new content with the patch, don't buy the cosmetics.
Lastly, I'm sorry but this isn't gambling either, as that insinuates you at least have the chance to get your money back. All you're doing is purchasing a "chance" at the cosmetics you want and as you stated, paying the maximum in most cases.

I can never understand the obsession with skins in modern gaming, the glass house parts on the shop looked interesting, and they had a fixed price rather than the loot boxes, but it's SG$70 for the set! That would already cost a full game in most cases! I understand the devs need to keep the lights on, but this is too expensive.
Cash items by gacha is different than in game items by free gacha.

Fortunately, the fashion for names passes over time and becomes forgotten, and the people using them become old people.

I rarely ever spend money on games and have the funds to do so. Absolutely love ghost rider and needed the bike as I adore Once Human. Took me all 150 crates to get it. Never again. It's absolutely ridiculous.

i bought the cat and pink bakery packs for my house and the carnival outfit, and upgraded battle pass. worth it for me because i love to make my house and character cute, but i'd definitely avoid the crates.
Good choice! If i wasn't doing it for this video, I would have happily stopped after getting the crate skins. It's a shame they've gone this route and not just made them time limited on the store
Cosmetics arent worth anything other than what people pay for them, and some people (whales) will always pay for these items regardless of the cost, thats how these games make their money, ive spent currently 0 money on this game, and likely wont in the forseable future, and as long as monetisation stays cosmetic only, ill continue to play regardless.
Not everyone will be able to get the cool shiny things the dev team makes up.
