Emulating what so many Asian mothers can be like with that old-school mentality of "I know what is best for my child and they need to follow exactly as I say." Basically, they just need to marry a lawyer, doctor, or successful business man. But to be honest, Son Ye Jin's character deserves a lot of blame too. While it is common in Asian families for the children to live with their parents well into their lives, her living as she does with them will only make the mother more insane and controlling. In the mother's mind, she has the right to do all of this and it is justified to think that way (albeit, it is a bit of a psycho mindset). But it is only until the end of the drama where the mother is left a bit more powerless because SYJ is starting to live her own life for herself. That is maturity which her characters lacks a lot of.
We all need this kind of man in our life that is willing to endure anything for the love of his woman.😩Praying that in Gods perfect time True love will find me.🙏
I was a bit confused why I am drawn to this actor so much, when he really looks 8-10 years younger than his age. But I got my answer in ur comment today. Its not just that he is extremely good looking and his smile is killing. But his acting is top notch too and the char he played who endures everything for his love, makes my heart melt.
I love this scene so much. He loves his woman and he is hurt that her relationship with the mom is strained because of him. Also, he didn't try to stop the mother, instead he took the beatings for her. He wanted the mother to also express her anger

JHI is a fairly new actor but i love how he portrayed this scene.. his subtle acting here melded so well with the emotional tension the scene was trying to deliver.. this scene could have gone wrong in so many ways had he been more dramatic but he chose to take the back seat and let the two other actors take command and i think as an actor that's really important.. to know when to yield and when to seize an opportunity
I just watched this tv series at Netflix the 3rd time and more for JHI and SYJ's scenes so many times. MOST of them if not all are so beautifully done. Acting of the two leads and the rest of the cast is so natural and realistic. The chemistry of d two leads is SUPERB. Soooo love them both❤❤❤ I been watching d other films and series of this two but Something... Rain is d best! I feel excited watching it over and over again. Kudos to JHI amd SYJ, d Director and Scripwriter. It was so beautifully done...and I agree with Yo Jin that this is one film that's hard to forget💖

In my opinion I think this one is far superior just because the actress Son Ye Jin is much more vibrant and a very talented actress. She caught my eye in the drama “Personal Taste “ with Lee Minho, her comedic style is outstanding 👏👏. In both these dramas JungHaeIn is paired with older women and he is magnificent in his roles 👍🎬. He is subtle in his delivery of the character but the impact is dynamic 💥. He is truly an actor with a captivating aura❣️ 🙆🏻♀️ ❌⭕️❌⭕️
I would say the character of the female lead in One spring Night is much stronger than Noona here, as she takes her time but she solves her issues with her ex and family on her own and endures to protect her love. She is more protective of her beloved than Son ye Jin.
my heart broke when he took the hits from her mom. i feel so sorry for him and his sister. the mom never felt apologetic for ruining their relationship.
I despise her mother so much. I can hardly keep my temper not to use inappropriate language,but you get an idea what I am saying in my mind. The real problem is that this kind of thing happens in real life and not only in Korea.There are those kind of parents who want THE BEST for their children and in the process they are crushing (sometimes irreversible) their children .PS happily as a child and as a mother I am far,far away from this kind of situation.💖🍀💞

This can be really typical in an Asian household though. Parents (especially mothers) feel that they can dictate to the daughters on what they need to do and who they should be with - as if the children live their lives for their parents. My wife deals with the same thing to an extent with her mother. The thing that works against Son Ye Jin's character in this show is that she truly isn't a grown-up yet herself. She does still live at home at her age. While that may be more common in Asia, it doesn't make it easier for their relationship by any means. One of the best K-dramas ever... easily top 3.
Not sure if you're being sarcastic but... yes, I have seen heavily dramatic situations with families getting way too fucking involved in the lives of their children. But to some extent, children like Son Ye Jin's character kind of "feed the beast" if you will when they agree to going out on a blind date with another guy to "prove something" to their parent(s)? Ridiculous to say the least.
I loathed the mother so much in this drama. The hypocrisy was infinite. One minute, she claims she loves JH and his sister like her own children, then the moment she finds out he is dating her daughter, she says the nastiest things to them, letting them know she doesn't think they are good enough to be in her family. Ugh!

So true. The only thing that I don't understand is why is she still living with the parents. As someone that had a very complicated relationship with my mother I moved out as soon as I could. The fact that she's still in the house makes little sense to me. I guess it's a cultural thing.

It was so hard to move on after Crash Landing On You, but then I decided to watch this and oohhhh what a drama. Its way even harder to get pass the emotions it gave me. I cried, laugh, get angry and made me hope for one true love!!! Ahhhhhhh rewatching this making it all come back! This is by far my number 1!!!!
Arlyn Joy Cho only once? Her mom doesn't love or respect Jin-ah as a person or adult. Her mom only cares about status. Listen to how she treats her husband and his old job. Look at how she still wanted JA to get back with ex knowing he cheated! Mom is ridiculous!
Don't forget that she pretended to care for both Jun-hui and his older sister when in reality, she never failed to throw it in their face that their father abandoned them whenever they came over. She also kept pestering Jin-ah and her brother to cut ties with the two before she found out about their relationship

The same mother played the same role on One Spring Night where Hae In also lead but in that series the mother is kind. I really love Hae In roles paired with older girl lead. He always give justice to the role, so mature and realistic. Hoping for everyone to find our own Hae In ✨♥️🥺

She can go through everything. Bye-bye. But she pauses at the door and then comes back and kisses JH. JH is so stressed, he rests his arms on the counter. JA leaves and walks right past her mother. her mother jogs to catch up. KS is in her house looking at her phone and thinking. JH is still at his counter, but he gets up and crouches in his living room at his little table. His hands are on his head. it looks like he might be crying, but we only see his back. JA drives home with a rage building inside. But she is quiet. mom is in the passenger seat and is also quiet. They get home and JA goes to her room (Hmmm..JA should move out). mom goes to her room, but gives a little look in JA’s direction.
This drama really makes me think a lot about our society, how we love someone and being overseen with social background and age gap. I remember at the earlier episode, JA Dad ask Mom about what she knows about love. And I think that's the whole point of this drama. How that "love" being express by the Mom, by Jinha, by Junhee, by Junhee' unni, and all. It just, in reality, we all lack the capability to love. We are all trying to be right.
after watching this scene for nth time i still shed tears..i have attended jung hae in fanmeet here in the philippines..i couldn't believe he's already 30yrs. old. he could easily pass as 19year old guy..sooo handsome and very charismatic😊😊😊

Most parents woulod prefer that their kids marry someone they already know especially from when theyr were young. Sure JH's parents relationship were not ideal, the mom should focused more on how he and her sister managed to create and live a respectable live even without the support of their dad. That in itself is something every parent should admire, instead of how much money they have. Although I understand her mother's concerns and that to her JH and JA arelike siblings in her mind and that they both should separately marry well, however that means to her...anyway, this drama is effective because of these conflicts. In real life though parents can only offer guidance to their kids and not clip their wings.
The Chinese saying "bamboo door to bamboo door; wooden door to wooden door" will never age in many Asian households. No matter how the world changes, parents will always want their children to be with someone of similar or "better" family background.
This scene is real! Like this also happens in real life where the guy is not accepted by the girl's parents. And this really hurts and sad. Talking 'bout my own experience. Huhu i really love this drama it reminds me the love and pain i've experienced and i treasure those feelings.

The same mother played the same role on One Spring Night where Hae In also lead but in that series the mother is kind. I really love Hae In roles paired with older girl lead. He always give justice to the role, so mature and realistic. Hoping for everyone to find our own Hae In ✨♥️🥺

mom leaves which makes JA and JH grow quiet. JH tells her that he is okay. JA tells him that she is okay as well. She can go through everything. Bye-bye.
But she pauses at the door and then comes back and kisses JH.
JH is so stressed, he rests his arms on the counter.
JA leaves and walks right past her mother. her mother jogs to catch up.
KS is in her house looking at her phone and thinking. JH is still at his counter, but he gets up and crouches in his living room at his little table. His hands are on his head. it looks like he might be crying, but we only see his back.
JA drives home with a rage building inside. But she is quiet. mom is in the passenger seat and is also quiet. They get home and JA goes to her room (Hmmm..JA should move out). mom goes to her room, but gives a little look in JA’s direction.

This drama really makes me think a lot about our society, how we love someone and being overseen with social background and age gap. I remember at the earlier episode, JA Dad ask Mom about what she knows about love. And I think that's the whole point of this drama. How that "love" being express by the Mom, by Jinha, by Junhee, by Junhee' unni, and all. It just, in reality, we all lack the capability to love. We are all trying to be right.
I've watched a few of his movies and he's such a passionate actor. Can't wait for his new drama to have eng sub.

Most realistic drama.
Most parents woulod prefer that their kids marry someone they already know especially from when theyr were young. Sure JH's parents relationship were not ideal, the mom should focused more on how he and her sister managed to create and live a respectable live even without the support of their dad. That in itself is something every parent should admire, instead of how much money they have. Although I understand her mother's concerns and that to her JH and JA arelike siblings in her mind and that they both should separately marry well, however that means to her...anyway, this drama is effective because of these conflicts. In real life though parents can only offer guidance to their kids and not clip their wings.
