- SUNSET BEACH, Hawaii- The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency (Hawaii-EMA), together with the Honolulu Department of Emergency Management conducted testing of a Modulator 6024B at Sunset Beach www.yelp.com/biz/sunset-beach-... on Thursday March 23, 2017 at about 9:25 AM.
The new sirens are part of the Statewide Siren Modernization Project. Nearby residents may hear the siren sound six to eight times for 30-60 second intervals during the identified timeframe. Testing will include short blasts known as “burps.” During the tests, emergency management technicians will check that the new sirens are functioning properly.
At the tail end if this video, I'm a passenger in a car. Listening to the siren as we're driving away. It reaches Mamao Street about .58 mile away.

Cool siren! The technician has a very powerful radio voice!
I’d love to have that job if I lived in Hawaii
Imagine playing Rick Roll on your phone into the microphone.
Lol
I was on your channel by chance, and gotta say you do a pretty good job at catching these moments. Excellent work.
it is interesting to see how the "burp" tests are done and how the technician does the live voice announcements great video! also like the custom hi low signal
They got the hi lo from the Selectone library. Federal can use their Selectone tone library to add any optional tones you want. There are even musical pieces in the Selectone library that you can get for your siren as well. The Selectone library is pretty huge so there's lots of selection.
Very coolest thing Modulator that I never seen
Wow a Dual toned modulator! Those things are pretty rare!
Chroma no they aren’t rare at all
Every one has to got to love a good old siren
nice hi lo and whoop tones
Nice!
I love the selectone hi lo
Nice Beach And Siren 🚨 🏝
The whoop was extremely ear killing
It's kind of interesting to see someone actually testing the siren on site as opposed to testing it remotely via radio link, do these sirens not have the ability to be tested remotely? I also hear a slight beep when the man testing the sirens turns off the microphone just before the test itself starts. Why were there a few odd beeps from the siren during the very early stage of the tests, just before the full test started?
Lachlant1984 That are activatiecode tones
This is a test right after installation
DOMIGAMES He was actually just testing the individual signal tones of the siren. It wasn’t any activating codes or tones.
Love the hilo
Same
Nice hi low
Do the controllers have pulse wail, steady, and alternate wail
Ian’s Siren Productions yes, it does
What did someone say about a radio at 0:22?
Guy Miyashiro talking to me; "you going stay right here?" My location.
The first signal sounds like a kid practicing his stacato notes. The second tone sounds like a kid singing with a friend. The rest of the tones should be used in a si-fi movie. Why does one of the tones get sounded twice?
Missy Davis the third one (excluding voice) is hi-lo...
hi lo hi lo hi lo hi lo hi lo hi lo hi lo hi lo hi lo hi lo hi lo hi lo hi lo hi lo.
the fourth one (excluding voice) is whoop...
whoooooop whooooooooop. whoooooooop. whooooooooop. whooooooop. whoooooooooop. whoooooooop. whooooooooop.
I know what it sounds like. I was making an analogy to what it sounds like to me! I'm amazed at how sirens work.
0:09 Is that the quiet test or something else? I have headphones on.
Edit: I think it is, I hear a very quiet Hi-Lo (0:31), and Whoop (0:39). Also at 1:31 a quiet alert, that stays on while burping. I think it might just be a transformer in the control box or something.
It's the amplifiers making noise because the speaker wires to the drivers are disconnected from inside the control box.
need it on my tractor :))
