Fan of Space 1999? Which is your favourite season or episode? Let us know!
Season 1 of course is my favorite of Space 1999. While season 2 had episodes like The Lambda Factor, The Dorcons and The Metamorph. But as a fan it was season 1 however that grabbed everyone, thats always the favorite!
Season 1 was the best by a wide margin.
Season 2 was destroyed by Fred Freiberger and his stupid rubber monster fiascos.
The first season and my favourite episode would be a tie with Breakaway and The Black Sun.
Season 1 for sure - Dark Sun was probably the very best!
Series one is my favourite the 2nd series is too wacky for me
Dragon's Domain scared the heck out of me and I was 16 then.
Same.
This needs a reboot
It just had an audio one... 😉😊
NAH!!! Need a NEW live one!!@@GerryAndersonTV
A reboot of season 2. Season 1 is fine as is.
No
Happy 20th Anniversary of Space 1999! As I post this I realize that today is September 13th, 2019! Glad I watched this video today! I really enjoyed the show when I first saw it all those years ago, even the 2nd season, though I do like the 1st season much better.
Season one was one of my favourite shows of the time.
'Dragons Domain' gave me reaccuring nightmares for years after as a child. 'Breakaway' will always be a classic and 'The Last Sunset' was a personal favourite... But I did love Maya in season 2 with 'Bringers of Wonder' being a great watch...
"Dragon's Domain" is one of my all-time favorite SF MOVIES!
One of my favorite shows - enjoyed the entire cast over the 24 episodes, the guests as well as special effects.
Season one was my favorite, I was just like everyone else when the second season started, I was totally horrified at the changes to both the set and the loss of many of the original characters. In my opinion Space 1999 could have been as big as Star Trek.
Indeed it should have been. Even the followup series "Space: 2099" I think it was seems to be blown from orbit to wander the universe never seen again.
@@CJ-rf9jm I have a quick and dirty concept for Space: 2099, where the Moon makes a 100 year orbit around Meta, already colonized by the former Alphans, and an up and growing civilization, where a group of archaeologists and students return to collect data from the computer along with historical relics, only to find another civilization (for, I dunno, reasons), latched a massive nuclear rocket to the back of the moon that kicks them again out of orbit, this time on a trajectory for Earth. So it's "Okay, we're about done.", then the rocket kicks in, and we're off!
"We apologize for the inconvenience, but your stray moon has been messing with our own planet's gravitational field, so we decided to send it back on it's way."
loved the second season.
In my opinion it could never have been as great as Star Trek. I have to admit there are quite silly and even bad ST episodes. But the central premise of Space:1999 was just wrong imho. All of Earth's nuclear waste cannot throw the moon out of the solar system. How can you meet a new solar system almost every other week, or every other month? How many time faster than the speed of light do you have to travel for that? Maybe time dilation might have helped but in one of the later episodes they manage to get into contact with Earth and not much time seems to have passed back on Earth. Suspension of disbelief can only get you ( ---> me) that far. Yes the planets and the spaceships were fantastic, of course. MAYBE if the second season hadn't had that thick American sauce... maybe...
A crime that it did not have at least one more season and go back to first season sets and bring the cast back too. Mind blowing!
Being an old grizzled medic, this is still one of my all time fve sci fi series. Regularly watch season 1 again. The music, the style , the scripts , the sense of awe and yet terror of space , will always live on . And Dragons Domain terried me as a kid , still one of my favourite episodes along with The testament of Arkadia.
Very similar problem to Gil Gerard's Buck Rogers series. The two seasons are almost completely different themes and styles.
In both cases, The first season was better.
@HaB22 True that! Space 1999 had to rely on good story telling and great special effects. Buck Rogers had Erin Grey in Spandex and .......
I'm sure there was something else. Tigerman maybe?
I never thought about it before, but the robotic characters in season 2 of Buck Rogers.... it was like they were trying to copy CP3O and R2D2. The professor would be Obi Wan and Erin... Princess Leia. It just had that feel. With a dash of Love Boat mixed in.
Yep. I have both series on DVD and I usually stop when I hit season 2.
I was just thinking the same thing
One thing I've always loved about this show is that it really makes a fan think. Between the original premise, which is brilliant and the second season changes, the variety of characters and music and more make it a great show. Both seasons, every episode. Even when we say, hey that wouldn't happen...it's fun!
Never took to the Second Season but I still consider Season One to be one of the greatest scifi shows of all time, I have it on DVD and still enjoy it as much as I did back in the day, that timpani roll leading into the titles takes me right back to Saturday nights in 1975. Magic!
I was born in 73 and the series were broadcasted in 75 in Portugal. I remember loving both series, but maybe the first more, since big sudden changes are always strange. I liked Space 1999 more than Star Trek. The Eagles are one of the best space craft designs ever.
The Eagle,,what an amazing looking spacecraft,,still my favourite after all these years...
Same here plus I like the Hawk also. Finally saw what the original Millenium Falcon was and it was very close to the Eagle but George Lucas had never seen or heard of 1999 when he was making Star Wars.
I still treasure the original Dinky toy Eagle my dad brought back from England (with silver rocket engines) when he was on course in England for the Canadian Air Force.
Many years ago i built a 172 scale plastic model kit of the Eagle. I don't have it anymore. Last yeat i built a huge one in 1/48 scale :-)
*_"It's beginning to look like a stumble in the dark."_*
{R.I.P., Martin Landau}
If ITC American kept away from the show instead of interfering and demanding drastic and unnecessary changes we would of gotten a 3rd season
As an American, I would like to offer my deepest apologies. I've never seen season two, but season one is some of the best television that I have ever seen.
@@KlingonCaptain no need to apologize for being a American lol
the creators Gerry & Sylvia had a divorce so they stop the show
Maybe they were in fear of a show that would have been on par, ney I say above par with Star Trek.
Loved the show as a kid and even had a huge Eagle toy. I wish they'd do a remake, with today's CGI it'd be quite awesome.
Even as a 9-11 year old child - and an American child at that - I preferred the inexplicable and mysterious weirdness, dark atmospheric mood, introspection, and talkiness of the first season to the non-taxing Saturday afternoon action-adventure format Freiberger gave us in the second season. I was a weird kid.
I can't believe how cinematic this show was. One of my favorite shows.
Loved every episode -would love to see all Andersons hits redone with CGI
I remember this when I was a kid I used to enjoy watching it.
season one. even as a kid. I was 11 when it aired.
Hope everyone here is celebrating #BreakawayDay + 20.
At 2.30...totally agree with you Alan Carter. A:) The Eagle was and still is my favourite spaceship. She was a beautiful bit of design. Also that bit about how many Eagles crashed had me in stitches. I used to try to keep count but couldn't keep track. They must have had an Eagle factory on the moon they lost that many of them. Lol!!!
Lost pilots as well. They probably had to keep training new pilots from the remaining population.
@@DocMicrowave I used to be a botanist, now I'm an Eagle pilot. I wonder if there is a pay raise involved. What do you mean we don't get paid?
@@markevans7551 Fly, or die. That's your reward. So keep up your agricultural work if you don't want to starve. And fly those eagles when we need you if like breathing air and having a bed to sleep on.
Everyone else pulling double duty as well so get with the program.
Your new co-pilot is the electrician/plumbers assistant.
I have to admit, I LOVED the second season. Loved the first one too but I had the biggest crush on Maya as a kid.
Yup! Same here! :)
Enchanting and everchanging. I've always loved Catherine Schell's wonderful portrayal.
who didn't?
Old memory... A classmate said he had a photo of Maya I could have, at a price (50p 'and' a used blank audiotape I think). Of course I paid. It was a full colour A4 page of a Look-In magazine I put on my bedroom wall. But then another so-called friend visiting the house one evening put a sticker that was lying around right in the middle of her face, ruining it. Removing the sticker left a white tattered rectangle. It led to an argument, a chase out into the garden and a fight. This is the kind emotional intensity Maya inspired back then.
Used to have a diecast toy of an Eagle as a kid. The centre passenger segment would pop out.
I had one too! 😀
And me. Lol
When I was younger, I preferred the second season due to the actions, but as I grew and became more aware of true concept in sci-fi, the first season is now my top 1.
Alain Vollant exactly my experience
Never liked ep 2
@Johnny Dominguez I must admit , I watched the first episode but hated the old ugly goon Barry Morse. Watching the re runs , he became my favourite character as his intellect held everything together!
I had the same exact experience
I was unhappy at losing characters like Victor Bergman, but the arrival of Maya eased my pain, just a shame we couldn’t have had both characters in the same series, two scientific geniuses together
Maya was great and she could get goofy and coy with her transformations, but also willingly put herself on the line for the team: like in all that glisters.
@@CosmicD Putting aside the whole issue of having to deal with conscious physiological transformations, what about conservation of matter? Where did all her body mass go when she transforms into a cockroach?
Apparently, Katherine's arrival didn't sit well with Barbara. Barbara saw herself as the S:1999 glamour, not the new Austrian(?) babe.
Mind you, she was gorgeous as the Pirian liaison.
Maya made it a kiddie show.
A combo of season two characters would have given it season 3. All good.
0:23 moustached men in nylon going through plate glass windows was a regular occurrence in our local pubs around the time this series came out.
I was lucky enough to meet Mr Anderson at a convention and managed to talk about Space 1999. (My wife says I went Fan Boy) the Eagle is truly a superb ship and without doubt my favourite. Functional and a believable creation.
did you ever see the episode where the Moon was given an atmosphere, sun and rain. How on earth could the Eagles fly in that episode. They are spaceships not aircraft. Another point in that episode was where Koenig opened a window, in a non-atmospheric environment, the last thing you would see is an openable window.
@@alanwaites8627 The Eagles did serve as shuttles before the moon left Earth's orbit and could take off and land in an atmosphere - as they did countless times in the series when investigating potential planets to live on. I'm with you on the window though :)
The Eagles are in my top 10 favorite ships. The Cruiser from Forbidden Planet is however my favorite, followed closely by the Jupiter Two from the original Lost in Space. I think the best part of the Eagles is watching them crash (honestly)
I have also been lucky to meet both Gerry and Sylvia.
They were very modest about their work and it was a great thrill for me to talk to two of my childhood heroes
Bonjour,
Season 1 and only season 1 !!! Favourite episode ? The Black Sun. Favourite scene ? the Eagle taking off ( reactor's sound !!! ) with the lunar dust flying everywhere !!
"Resistance is futile" in 1976
I had to replay that a few times to see if that was a line or they just added as a voiceover.
That caught me by surprise too.
I was going to type the same thing. That's a very suspect coincidence I think.
When it comes to SciFi "Resistance is futile" was first used in two British Series
Doctor Who, "The Deadly Assassin", S14E9, 30 Oct 1976
Space: 1999, "The Dorcons", S02E24, 12 Nov 1977
It didn't reach the Star Trek universe until over a decade later
Star Trek The Next Generation, "The Best of Both Worlds", S03E26, 16 June 1990
And it quickly became a central catchphrase amongst Trekkies, and today most people think it originated in Star Trek
Before contacting the Borg!! LOL
My favourite scene was that drinking scene in the black sun/ black hole episode where the characters reconcile the existential angst of facing their own deaths.
I agree here, the relationship between Victor and Koenig was one of the best things for me. Reminds me a tiny bit of the whole Picard - Ryker relationship.
Maybe I'm rare in that I enjoy both seasons...
Favourite episodes:
Force of Life. I love David Tomblin's direction! Shows off the brilliant big sets.
The Infernal Machine - great guest acting from Leo McKern and more Tomblin.
Bringers of Wonder - It's wonderfully disturbing.
End of Eternity - Balor is sooo creepy, brilliant performance from Peter Bowles.
Fans seemed to prefer season 1 although still liked season 2 enough. It was still watchable. This isn't a Galactica situation where what would have been a second season was so bad they had to make it a follow up series.
Both series have just been shown on Forces TV 👍👍👍👍 ,season 1 definitely the best 👍👍👍👍
Imagine. In 1976 , This program attempts to show us the hypothetical future of space travel and extraterrestrial interaction which never actually came into reality so far until now. This is 2020 going on 2021. 1999 is now ancient. My! How time flies faster than a space eagle!
懐かしいな子供のころ見ていた。けっこう覚えている。 from japan
I always hated seeing Eagles crash. After spending several days building an Eagle model as a child, I learned to appreciate how truly beautiful that utility craft was. Seeing them totaled by writers one after the next was sort of sad.
It would seem that Moonbase Alpha had a near limitless supply of Eagles at their disposal...
The first script called for two separate Eagle crashes into the lunar surface, so they built a miniature sturdy enough to withstand repeated takes of the FX shots without serious damage and still be ready for more. With a crash-worthy model on hand, later scripts called for more of that kind of visual excitement.
@@christopherlockery9629 … the base did have an Eagle fabrication plant. It was featured in one of the episodes.
@@DavidGreen_au Thank you for your reply.
Although I have seen all of the episodes (thanks to my Blu Rays and DVDs) would it be possible if you could remind me as to which episode that the Eagle Fabrication plant is shown in
I'll have to be honest that I'm not all that up on 'Space:1999' (although I did very much enjoy watching it, even Year 2) because I'm more up on the Supermarionation shows (chiefly the ones that are set in TV21 Universe ie 'Fireball XL5', 'Stingray', 'Thunderbirds' and 'Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons' which I'll add is one of my personal all time fave SF shows full stop and movies, ie 'Thunderbirds are Go' and 'Thunderbird 6') than that of the live action shows (that said I did very much enjoy 'UFO' of which I'd like to dust of my Blu Ray box set one day and rewatch it...) so it would be of great help if you could remind me so that I can go right to the exact episode that it is shown in.
Anyway I'll have to go now as my daily ration of electricity is almost up thanks to, I'm quite sure that you are aware that the World Government are planing on sending up a replacement for our long lost Moon and that they need that power to send up the parts up into space.
I also hear that the Tracy family have suffered a loss during their sking holiday, very sad.
We really do need a better rescue service....
FAB
I can't recall the specific episode, only scant details. It was in season 2, and if memory serves, it was an episode where Maya goes "a bit bonkers", and starts flying an Eagle around inside one of the subsurface hangers.
Trashing quite a bit of the place in the process.
I remember seeing an Eagle being carried around on a gantry in one of the scenes.
The first season was my favourite they should really do a remake of this series, the theme tune is still used in various forms these days, great series a proper childhood favourite of mine 👊👊👊👍
They are thinking of remaking this series but renaming it Space 2099? Won't be the same myself.
still my favorite show from the 70s
Awesome series, 1 season is best, but I like both anyway
I much preferred the first season over the second season. The icing on the cake though would have been to keep the first season format and add Catherine Schell.
During the original run, I actually liked year 2 over year 1. As time has gone by, my appreciation for year 1 has grown while I still like year 2. I see the two years as distinct series that share a basic premise.
Star Wars owes so much of its aesthetic to Space 1999!
Underrated, good sci fi show.
season 1 was good. Season 2 was ok, at best.
War Games was one of the best episodes.
I’d love to see a full video of Magenta counting the Eagle crashes/explosions. 🤣
It would be great if we got an official final count.
FritziSchnitzel Whoops! We ran out of Eagles. Alan!
The Eagles are "the redshirts" of Space: 1999.
I always liked series 1. The "monsters" and Maya constantly changing into the same old things bored me. Though I always wanted an Eagle of my own
For the time I think it was ok, and also Maya was gorgeous! OMG!
I use to watch this series as a kid. I have season 1& 2 on DVD. They are remaking this series but they are renaming it Space 2099.
I want to see a reboot of this series...
I read somewhere there is a reboot series already being made called Space 2099. Updated Eagles and a bigger Moonbase Alpha.
I don't
@Simon Coles
I concur, it will just be woke garbage
So many Fans just Love this series, its a shame no official or unofficial atempt was made to revive this awesome series.

@@GerryAndersonTV Thanks.Unfortunately Special edition is sold out.
age 55 was the most beautiful series of my childhood
Never noticed the day the moon was blown out of orbit was my first day of work in my current career; 9-9-1999.
i enjoyed both seasons, in nearly endless re-runs, here in canada as a kid but i imagine that i'd enjoy season 1 more as an adult. might have to order them both to test that out.... :-)
Speaking personally I would have preferred a second season of U.F.O if given the choice, and that ITC America had whistled up their own fundament instead of interfering but then....when have those controlling the purse strings EVER left Genius alone to get on with it
Couldn't agree more. The whole 'moon got loose' premise could have been a single UFO episode.
The first series was superb, different and gripping. The second was simply silly and over the top. Such a shame. This needs to be revisited for a remake.
Loved both seasons
Dragon's Domain: still scary.
it inspired alien in a way
@@chriswalsh4738 I slept with the light on for two weeks after that one!
@@chriswalsh4738, no. Alien was inspried by a 50's B scifi film. Blanking on the name but it was about a ship landing on a planet, an alien getting on board picking off one person after another, and their using fire against it. Two women in the cast. I mentioned it to Veronica Cartwright once, she was really surprised by it.
I binge-watched the Series 1 DVD set a couple of years ago. I got to "Dragon's Den" and thought - nah, I'll wait until daylight tomorrow to watch that one. I am in my 50s and still remember being scared by that one, in a good way. I also have the "Mission of the Darians" Mutant! Clear! scene etched into my brain...
Space 1999 was an amazing achievement. (season 2 was my favorite). And remember, this was before Star Wars. The special effects really looked modern and believable.
+Gerry Anderson; today (13 September, 2019) is the 20th anniversary of the earth's moon - containing Moonbase Alpha - being blasted out of orbit
🌘🌗🌖🌑🌔🌒🌓.
I was 18 when the series premiered in my country, I liked season 1 but 2 disappointed me because I did not like the new actors or the scripts too light and fanciful.
I have found every Gerry Anderson production to be highly enjoyable and the effects were way ahead of their times, better than most contemporaneous films.
You can't bead a good Derek Meddings explosion.
Any Space:1999 fan will love this 8mm fan film: ruclips.net/video/lppROZy5h4A/видео.html
I still have my Space 1999 pencil case back when I was a kid.
b8702131 that is epic!
I have the DVD box set
Me too!
Space 1999 and U. F. O I haven't got a favourite between them as they are both fantastic. Even though Fred Burgers and Fries mucked about with the second series
I had the Eagle as a toy when I was a kid like 15 years ago and I only just found out where it was from O.O
Do I remember those two series as I watched everyone. I have to admit that I prefer the first being indeed more reflective and intelligent. I also can link my scientific career to characters like the one played by Barry Morse as they made those people very appealling. Indeed, the harware was excellent for the time and the flying Eagles were realistic. I also prefered the set in the first, much more impressive with its nice control room.
When I was a kid I had the Mattel Eagle transporter & as a 53 year old guy I've got an assembled/painted model kit on my display shelf. Own DVD series as well!
I have to go with "The Last Enemy" as my fav episode. Nice twist of fate at the end and who could resist Caroline Mortimer in black leather as the hot alien commander Dione!
It was one of my favorite episode along with War Games, The Inferno Machine. The Dorcons and The Bringers of Wonder. The phrase "Resistance is Futile" was used 12 years later by The Borg in Star Trek TNG.
I'd forgot this episode its another of my faves.
I was only 15 years old on the day the Moon left Earth Orbit....
The character of actress Catherine Schell was the one that most marked me in this series.
Very well done video!! Thanks lots for posting!! :) :)
Season 1 is the best, season 2 is not very good. I would have rather seen a season 2 of UFO instead of space 1999. UFO was way better show than Space 1999!
100% UFO was a better series but it’s was all down too Money and the second series was for the America market.
They would never understand UK Sci Fi
Stewart Bentham .I was 12 when UFO played here in America 1971-72 and I loved it and my 4 good friends to. Were all big Star Trek fans to! So some of us were ready for UK sifi, got to love the DR. Who to.👍👍
It may just be a coincidence, but as I'm watching this video, today, the Comet TV network is running this show in a marathon.
Have not watched it myself but my mom loved Space 1999 (Or simply Moonbase Alpha as it was called here in Denmark) when it aired here. Though she just thought things like Automatic doors were like the most futuristic things ever. And look at the world now XD
It has to be said that many top Hollywood special effects designers cut their teeth on Gerry Anderson and Dr Who.
Wargames was the best as we got the Mark IX Hawk out of it. Absolute crime we never saw them again. I wish they had done some sort of dedicated atmospheric Eagle Varient. I love the eagle as a space craft, but it never made any sense going into atmospheres. The UFO moonbase had a dedicated earth to moon ship.
Wonderful show. The plots were very creative and unpredictable. I enjoyed the episode voyagers return which had a character based on Nazi rocket scientist Werner von braun named Ernst Queller.
Not to mention one of the best theme 'songs' in TV history. The first few bars alone of the season 1 theme are as epic as 2001 A Space Odysseys Also Sprach Zarathustra. I love it to this day and it send shivers down my spine. I can forgive the following decidedly disco music! Now the episodes I don't remember at all so its ripe for a rewatch, but the Dragons Domain one I remember vividly terrified me as a child. It was horrifying seeing a girl being dragged in screaming and spat back out as a desiccated skeleton. Almost as scary as the time my aunt let me watch Alien when she was babysitting me!
"Resistance is futile"... now where have I heard that before ;-)
You mean after. ;-)
@@BrenLynne touche ;-)
The episode "Q Who" from Star Trek TNG 1988.
Must've been... Star Wars? ;-)
Doctor Who used it one year before.
I liked Catherine Schell better for her appearance in Season 1 in Guardian Of Piri. An excellent performance.
Loved this show as a kid, turned me into a real sci-fi fan. The theme tune for Season 1 is absolutely awesome and a couple of episodes scared the crap out of me, Dragons Domain and the one with Lovejoy in it 😁
It’s a show that is due for a reboot and reimagining. With the storytellers of today and the availability of CGI, it could be something that offers the best of both worlds (nod to ‘resistance is futile’) in a similar vein to the reimagined version of Battlestar Galactica.
Just as The Next Generation took Star Trek a step further by incorporating actual issues within each episode including advancements in technology we were only just grasping in the late 80’s, a reboot of Space 1999 could address climate change from Moonbase Alpha and the long term threat to life on Earth. That would allow for a number of personnel to be on duty on Alpha that we don’t always get to see. Once some one is killed off, a new character steps out of the shadows of their last Department.
But address the issues that affect the world today regarding tolerance and freedoms and rights. Tackle corruption and oppression. BSGs message was subtle and expertly told. Alpha could explore the same themes from the perspective of 2019-2020.
Of course, it couldn’t be called Space 1999. ‘Moonbase Alpha’ or just ‘Alpha’ would be entirely acceptable as a title and nod to the original. All new cast, the offspring of the original crew or recast Koenig, Russell, Bergman, Carter et al.
Dr Who, rebooted and successful.
Galactica, rebooted and successful.
Lost in Space, rebooted and successful.
Star Trek, numerous reboots and reimaginations and still successful.
Popular SciFi that stands the test of time.
There were elements from the second season I liked, although it didn't have the same feel as the first season. I liked Maya so I didn't mind her being added, but I didn't like the removal of Morse.
The fan film used to wrap up the series would have been a good place to start a spin-off, although there would never have been a better way to end it.
If they had Maya to be more like Spock instead of transforming into rubber monsters it would be a lot better. Season 2 still had several good stories.
1973???? It was mid 70's. 75-76. I was 10 at the time.
Production began 73. First broadcast 75. It takes a while to make shows 😉
@@GerryAndersonTV Correction. It takes a while to make GOOD shows. So these were the best by far.
Season 2 is Like "Maya show"... In the 70' i love Maya :)
In 2019 i like season 1
I had an Eagle ship as a kid around 1977. It was large enough to fit action figures in it. Or am I losing it?
Space 1999 is a great show and I even loved season two! I think a reboot might be a great idea, if not then a story of whether the people of moonbase alpha actually found a new planet to call home or not.
Eddie: Zienia Merton reprised her role as data analyst Sandra Benes, for the short film 'Message from Moonbase Alpha.' This, considered the series final (49th) episode, debuted at the fan convention held in LA during the weekend of Breakaway (12/13/14 September 1999.)
Ewwww, "reboot", that has become such a dirty word. Anyway, modern Star Trek is not something I am interested in and neither would I be interested in modern Space: 1999.
At home it was the battle of space series.. Star Trek or Space 1999. Dad liked Star Trek, I liked 1999...1999 was more believable back then as a kid...(12 year old) didn't care for Kirk falling in love with every alien they encountered...I did warm up to Trek later on and then discovered Dr Who...that's a whole other story..still watch 1999 now 57... Trek and 1999 was on at the same time in Chicago in the 70s... Sundays around 5bif memory serves...1999 on Channel 9 WGN and Trek on WFLD 32..
Am I having dejavu? I swear I watched this some days ago.
I always liked the look of the second season and the plot lines of the first! To bad they couldn't have made both work in a third season!! But you never know, hollywood is soooo out of ideas we may yet see a reboot of some kind!
Ed Bishop's UFO & Martin Landau's Space 1999 would always be follow by millions of fans via Dvd , Bluray or Streaming Services from planet Earth 🌍 to the Outer Rim! Is there any talk at all of continuing this show? There is so much potential here just waiting to be developed!! I thoroughly enjoyed every episode and think the transitions between models and live action are seamless! All the best - Luther
Try the new audio series!
I'm an American and I hate that the second season was Americanized. The one thing I really liked about the second season was Maya, of course. She was a good character.
I hope the companies like Tesla can figure out the engineering to launch rockets like Space: 1999 spacecrafts. Apparently, there has to be a lot of fuel to escape earth orbit. The Alpha Moon based crafts had a fuel and engine design that was efficient in leaving any planatary gravity well. It was certainly compact. How many passengers including flight crew could one carry? Eight? Add supplies. Amazing to have Harrier lift function and then switch to main thrust nozzles.
Very futuristic in-depth concepts except a toes of wine of class.
Well as everyone says Season 1 is by far the better: in stories, style and overall quality. That is not to say S2 was ALL bad, there are some very watchable episodes but in comparison to the ideas and scares of episodes like Black Sun, The Troubled Spirit and Dragon's Domain...actually you can't compare S1and S2. They are 2 different space beasts. That said, has anyone seen Seed of Destruction re done in the style of S1? It is on the blu ray S2 box set ( all right, yes, it IS my guilty pleasure ). It is amazing. I'd love them to do all of S2 like this. If they could only get rid of the cringe worthy lovey dovey stuff too, it would be loads better.
How could they transform a brainy hard science show in season 1 into a bizarre nonsense of season 2? This change doomed the show.
I find your lack of faith disturbing

@@Hotspur37 >>> NOT ALL OF US. Just the ones that run television networks apparently...😊😊😊
It's the Fred Freiberger effect. See Star Trek original, series 3.
As an adolescent teen, I really like Maya.
