  • The latest rule changes have been issued by the Kennel Club agility shows (November 2023). In this video I reflect on the 4 main changes I think it is important you know about, how they might affect you and my thoughts on them.
    These 4 are
Judging of the up contact on dogwalk and A-frame
Changes to how judges enter their own dogs for competition
All height dogs will need to be measured
The requirement for use of a soft wall in competition
You may have read or heard about the Agility Liaison Council (ALC) and how they regularly meet to update and amend agility regulations. Being aware of the changes they make is very important, as it helps you to understand the criteria your dog is going to be judged under.
All agility clubs and trainers teaching agility should be fully aware of the current regulations and all their equipment should be compliant with the latest KC requirements. These are usually implemented for safety reasons, which is why you should know about them.
These updates come out regularly and can feel like a minefield, so I have picked out the four ones I consider most important for you to know from the latest ALC report (November 2023).
I hope this video will help you to understand what has changed and why. If you have further questions just ask me.

About me! I am a force free dog trainer living in the United Kingdom. I have trained with a variety of dogs and currently own Shelties and working cockers or cocker crosses. I have competed in agility since 2013 and have qualified for various regional and national finals. Due to ill health, I had to transition from being a running agility handler to a distance handler in 2021. Since then I have become passionate about encouraging handlers of all abilities to enjoy this sport with their dogs. My channel is dedicated to sharing my love of dogs and dog training. I believe dog training should be taught in a fun, cooperative manner. Welcome and I hope you enjoy my videos!
