Wow, beautiful. Thank you for sharing! Looks like the perfect trip to introduce my lady to the back country of the Sierras. I bet she will love it there
When I was 15 yrs old, my friends and I (no one was older than 17) hiked from Onion Valley up to what was then known as the John Muir trail (now part of the Pacific Crest Trail) up through the John Muir Wilderness, through Evolution Valley and over to Florence Lake on the West side. The total trip was over 100 miles and traversing several 12,000 ft Passes. Those are memories you take with you your entire life. Keep hiking my friend.
Been backpacking several times on this trail. Several years ago a friend of mine and I went up in May. We rented snow shoes and camped at Long Lake. We were the only humans on the trail. Yes, the view is awesome from Bishop Pass but more spectacular if you hike to the lower end of Dusy Basin and see Le Conte Canyon.
A friend and I did this trail about 25 years ago. But we started from Rancherias trailhead on the other side, by Courtright reservoir. We fished the Middle Fork of the Kings Canyon and only crossed over into South Lake because the rattlesnakes were so bad in the park.
Awesome vid! Morning light is incredible at Long Lake. In August 2015 we were at out secret spot at Long Lake and just after dinner with no light we experienced a upper elevation rock slide from one of the adjacent peaks which sounded like a freight train in our camp. I grabbed a flashlight and the lake was covered in a big dust cloud. Totally awesome experience and we never figured out where the slide was. Love it up there. Beautiful spot.
Damm i had fun watching this vid it was just Beautifu. Sorry, but laught so hard, when she stop in the middle of the steam crossing, it was real close. Really where did you find her. She rally seems to enjoy hiking
@@rocketsause17 just be at the White Mountain Ranger Station before 8am and get a walk on permit when they open. Shouldn't be too tough depending on time of year. Or plan way in advance before the reservations fill up. But seriously I always just do a walk on and have alternatives just in case my 1st choice isn't available. Happy hiking.
Love tagging along on all your adventures. Thanks for sharing! ♡
Great video...did this last sunday..it was amazing

Sounds amazing! I’ll have to head out over the pass one day. Had a permit for north to south lake this year but the 🔥 ruined those plans.
I packed over Bishop Pass and well beyond back in the late 90's. The bugs murdered us. Kings Canyon is totally incredible I must say.

Did you guys see any wild life like deer or bears up there?
At 10:57 that appears to be Mt Whitney in the background.
that isnt whitney
Now you can take your fishing pole and redo all the hikes you have done again :)
I want to mountain bike this someday.
Sadly the trails are closed until 2021 do to the fires. Perhaps the USFS will open them up after the first snow.
Very sad indeed...hoping the rains come soon to put the fires out and clear the air.
Do you need permits for this hike?
rocketsause17 day hike - no. Overnight - yes.
Sheety33 do you know if they are difficult to get?

just don't plan on going down the backside to the JMT and coming back up it is a ridiculous hill
