- In the seventh instalment of the Texas trip, I'm paying a visit to Max & Louie's New York Diner in San Antonio to take on their 'Robert Stack Challenge', which it turns out is named after the American character actor and sportsman of the same name...yeah I know, I've never heard of him either...
Participants get 25 minutes in which to eat a stack of pancakes, waffles, french toast, bacon, eggs, sausage, chicken and somewhat bizarrely...a slice of orange...in order to win the meal free, a swanky tee and even a mug, provided you can box off a dessert too!

ANSWERS TO COMMON QUESTIONS & ADDITIONAL INFO:
Q: How come you don’t get fat?
A: I eat like this for 1 hour of a 168 hour long week. In simple terms, I eat at caloric maintenance over the course of time, meaning I don’t gain weight. If you're interested in learning more, see the ‘But How Come You're Not Fat' and 'It Was Just A Normal Day...' videos available on my channel.
Q: Don’t you worry about your health?
A: Not in particular. I’m active. I eat nutrient dense foods five days a week. And, I get quarterly bloods done, amongst other health checks.

Welcome, welcome one and all to another episode! Thanks for tuning in for the seventh instalment from Texas; today we’re at Max & Louie’s to do battle with their ‘Robert Stack Challenge’.
Twenty five minutes to box off an eclectic tower of American breakfast favourites all by yourself. If you can manage it, you get the meal FREE, a winner’s shirt and a mug too!
I hope you enjoy it and I’ll be back with you this time on Sunday for the next one!
Evening mate 👍
Hi from Melbourne Australia mate 👍.
Hi beard, the accent was grande this week😂 ☘️
So my limey bro. your next t-shirt needs to b Beard Mode like Marchan Lynche's Beast Mode but you the real beast broham! easy peesy
Watching people doubt your eating abilities never gets old. Well done Adam
Hats off to that manager for making the environment fun for you and everyone in there. Seemed like he genuinely enjoys his job and he was a pleasant character to watch in this episode!
He understands that the word of mouth of 'omg somebody did the challenge' is what the challenge as a promotional tool is about. leaving somebody in a corner to complete/fail isn't really worth it. Now all those people who got involved in the challenge, who almost got 'permission' to talk to the stranger will be telling their friends about what they saw today
yeah that bloke was a legend...fully into the idea of the food challenge they had going on...no advance notice needed...welcomes everyone who wants to do it with open arms...gives them the whole spiel, the whole story...love owners like that
@@Beardmeatsfood while I have your attention! I'm opening a beer garden this fall in San Diego, and I will be adding a challenge just for you sir, hopefully you'll come crush it some day!
Yeah, service was so good I wanna go there!
I friggin love when the owners/managers are into it. Most are neutral, some are antagonistic, but the few gems are like this guy
Eating at Max and Louie's right now. They have immortalized you by playing you on one of their televisions in the restaurant.
That amazing 🤣👍👍
Yes I ate there and saw Beards video playing 😊
I just came here from watching the video at the bar. I’m so glad this wonderful place is getting the love it deserves!
Awesome!! 🤣🤣🎉
I love it when the businesses are supportive like that.
Just tried this place after seeing your video. The French toast was hands down the best french toast I've ever tasted. My family and I actually sat down in the same seat, and they had this video on a loop on their TV.
As a Brit I'm really loving these American challenges...not just the difference in food but culture and people ...it all makes for a great watch ...I must admit tho this has been my favourite episode to date .
I can relate as an American who loves to watch the series he does closer to home. Love all the people across the world who converse/banter with him, so fun to see.
I agree, & I've seen at least 20 episodes!
It's nice to share a side of America that people don't usual get to see. 69% of us are normal, friendly, peace-loving people 🙏🥰👋
@@jayflanagan8504 thanks for reading my comment and replying , amazing how something so little as a man eating food can be so interesting, also love your country /the people and culture not so the politics tho same with my country the people are nice just the odd idiot ruins it for the rest of us ..great to here your experience with beard meets food and the British culture..much love brother from another country 👍💙🐓

@@loudaddy2001 Lol. I see what you did there.
Fantastic episode. Crowd participation was top notch in this one but the owner’s personality is what really made it. What a great guy!
Haven't watched it yet but your comment makes me excited!
yeah he was a gent...loved every minute with him
Way to crush that challenge! Looks like your going to crush all 50 states!
@@Beardmeatsfood Sounds like you're about to have two fiancées.
Definitely. Was kind of a free win for this beast, but the atmosphere was 10/10.
Got a love that manager. That’s customer service ! Really engaged with Mr Beard. Many places you can see that they are annoyed, but this manager really enjoys it
yeah i wish they were all like this geezer...such a nice bloke
@@Beardmeatsfood I'm dyin' you called him a 'bloke.' It's the equivalent of saying, "Oh, he was such a nice doofus." Backhanded compliments all around.
@@BaronBacon Where in the world does 'bloke' mean doofus? In the UK it's just a synonym for the word man.
Couldn't agree more! The manager was great, unsurpassed for customer support.
@@URBuggin78 never ever heard bloke mean doofus? its like saying dude or man or guy lol
That’s a manager! Respect, loves his job, great customer service, a lot of energy, knows his customers. Give that guy a RAISE!!! Beard 4 LIFE
That’s how you keep people coming back over and over, with an atmosphere like that at your restaurant/place of business. I wanna go just for the French toast, it’s also my favorite breakfast food (and Breakfast is always 24/7 in MY home lmao).
The irony of asking Beard if he's ever seen a hot dog eating competition and him just going "yeah, yeah, that's crazy" 😂
“Oh they dip the bun in water, eh?”
hehehe
that had me rolling. i was like "is..is he going to tell him?"
Laughing my buns off. Like asking Jimmy Page if he's ever seen a guitar.
i had a shit eating grin lol
Love that the manager was really into the spirit of the food challenge! It always puts me off a bit when it seems like they don't want you to succeed at all, or they do something to make it even harder just so you'll lose. You can tell this guy actually just finds the whole thing fun. I'm in Canada, so I don't know if I'll ever find myself in that area of Texas, but I'd definitely stop by if end up that way. The whole atmosphere seems really nice and welcoming :)
Definitely gives me a reason to visit San Antonio as well. Chill atmosphere and the food looks genuinely tasty.
You've got a great attitude, Canada rocks 🍁
As a resident of San Antonio I am really proud how great the other diners and the staff were
The hospitality at this restaurant was 20/10 and so many nice people!
Wtfook is 20/10
@@skip1860 Are you simple?
@@Thataussiebattler lmfao 🤣 is that a question ?
@@skip1860 So you are simple?
The switch from banter to genuine childlike excitement whenever someone mentions a T-shirt always makes me smile
Haha yer I was wait for beards reaction when they mention a free T shirt
What a great bunch of people !. Everyone seemed so friendly and welcoming.
Southern Hospitality at its finest.
And next minute they will shoot you....
I love how you play along with the other diners and make them underestimate you. The element of surprise. 😂😂
The manager seemed like a very likeable person! Good job Mr Beard, lovely to watch
This genuinely was one of the best videos I've seen on your channel, the rapport with everyone, the fact that you really enjoyed the food, the banter with the other diners. Absolutely stands out on the trip. Congrats on the mug :D.
I wonder if they'll adopt the cake into the challenge and add the mug for those who win.
thanks mate glad you liked it
That Drew guy seemed cool. Always Glad to see someone representing American Restaurateurs positively . I will look for that place next time Im in the great state of Texas
why does he continue to act like he doesnt know the challange and details? so annoying lol but oh well , he seems to like doing it
One of our favorite spots in San Antonio. Drew the manager is a great guy!
Love it when the restaurant manager really gets into the challenge and supports you. What a great guy. The pancakes looked so good. Wish we got American food like that. Loving this series Beard.
Fun guys but bro totally lied about Robert Stack going there 2 to 3 times a week 😂. He died in 2003 and the restaurant only opened in 2016 or 17.
THE best egg drip i've ever seen in my life! My god it looked incredible! I even let out an 'UHH!' when all that golden yellow cascaided down that pancake! lol!
Looked like a Salvador Dali painting
It’s so amazing! My daughter ate the grilled cheese French toast and it come the same way with eggs on top so delicious! I’ll def be back!
A work of art.
It was almost pornographic. The manager even commented on its perfection.
Love, love, love to see how interactive the manager was to make this so fun and positive. You could tell they have many regular patrons and I would be one if I lived there. This is how you survive Covid as a restaurant. Loyalty to your staff and patrons.
Precisely, a gentleman showing some great American hospitality.
100!
I laughed when the manager brought in the cake haha he's pretty cool :)
Love it when beard asks customers if they think he can do it and they all say no, then he destroys it in half the allocated time.😂
I don't know how in the space of a week I'm now hooked on watching someone eating ridiculous amounts of food.
But I think I'm just watching because Adam is such a wonderful personable guy. Its become less about the food and more about the positive effects of human interaction.
I completely agree.
He's such a character, personality.
Everyones buddy.
I know, right? I've never been interested in any type of food eating content, but I randomly found Beard a while ago and was instantly hooked.
It just happens 😂... I eat my best meals watching beard
Just a cool regular dude eating
Nothing makes Beard’s eyes light up like the promise of a free t-shirt! Your coy look during the hot dog eating contest conversation was hilarious. Great episode!
thanks bryant
Best one of the Texas series so far. Manager and the patrons really made the episode.
I live in San Antonio and we love Max and Louie’s! I live 5 minutes away! Great to see the Beard in my neck of the woods. I have one of those great mugs. I had to buy mine😂. Great job sir! Glad to see Southern hospitality is still alive and well. Texans are friendly and proud people.
What an amazing atmosphere… honestly every time I get out to the US I find the enthusiasm and friendliness absolutely intoxicating… I come back like a new man, and the UK gloom gradually grinds you back down again.
What a brilliant venue. Amazing host.
Where the heck in the UK are you being gloomy? I find people are generally happy-go-lucky and respond accordingly
It's weird going to the US as an Australian, because we're usually pretty chill and happy... but the US version feels super fake and forced. Like everyone is trying to show how happy they are... with vacant eyes and trained smiles.
@@ori-yorudan ding ding ding! not like that everywhere though. Anything family owned isnt forced, but common fast foods workers n such typically fake it
with you there jim
@@ori-yorudan where do you see that? The US is pretty big. The largest 15 cities or so probably fit your description, but get out to the smaller towns or the ranching/farming communities and you’ll get real hospitality. Probably that way in most countries.
The enjoyment everyone in the restaurant got from you completing the challenge was really nice.
Seems like a great place to challenge, Bravo for the manager and staff for making it so fun. And what an applause! Well deserved friend, keep rockin!
to me, Robert Stack will always be the Host of "Unsolved Mysteries"
that was a great show
He also voiced Ultra Magnus in the Transformers movie. 👍
Dont forget the Untouchables !
I remember Robert Stack playing Eliot Ness in 'The Untouchables', a crime drama series that aired from 1959-1963 on ABC and in countless reruns on many channels. His voice and stage presence made him seem larger than life. Great actor.
That's what made Airplane so great, old-school big stars from previous decades doing deadpan comedy. Most people now probably only know Leslie Neilson playing for laughs, but at the time it was wild because it went completely against the type of character he'd played for the prior 40 years.
I remember him as the host of Unsolved Mysteries as well
Huge fan of this channel. Real human being moments abound.
What a really nice place. You can see by the diners that the guy that runs it does it really well. Nice clap at the end and seeing that cake come out made me laugh....... the food looked really nice too.
By far the friendliest environment yet in a video the dude seemed like a really chill guy. Also, the production quality in this video with that drone shot at the beginning was really nicely done. Keep them coming!
thank you :)
It's nice to see a proprietor that enjoy's people enjoying their food, rather than only being about the cash. Loved the atmosphere in this one.
Dude, I love your self deprecating humor, personal stories, and that you laugh at yourself! Awesome vids, mate!
Max and Louis should ask you for your video so they can clip it for a commercial. That “egg drop” was everything 🤌🏼
Apparently they have got his video on loop in the restaurant! Not sure if it’s of the egg though. Yes this is like a year later but thought you’d like to know lol.
Well done Beard for both the challenge and finding one of the most obliging and friendly restaurant managers ever, excellent viewing!
thanks stu
IT's so great the entire restaurant clapped for you, I just laughed and smiled. Really enjoyed that! Great going, Beard!
twas a blast mate indeed :)
One of my favorite episodes. Just good vibes all around
I love how he says the pancakes are hard to eat as he pounds 3 in like 2 mins
I know the pancakes made it tougher but they looked exactly how I like them. I made a note of the cafe name just in case I am ever in San Antonio. Grats on a job well finished and the customer applause at the end was so wholesome.
Onward and upward Beard.
Shoot. I'd be poking them pancakes and loading em full of syrup!
Awesome job. I'd never be able to do it. Ever! You're awesome, Mr. Beard.
And the final cake is the embodiment of the saying "Everything is bigger in Texas"!!!! Well done 👍👍👍👍👍
OMG, 😍I LOVE ALL THE INTERACTIONS WITH ALL THE OTHER CUSTOMERS😍......This bring so much more life in the video!!! Keep this way and you'll be 2 million soon...🤩
This is a truly fun video Beard! Kudos to the manager and the “ambiance” he creates at his restaurant. Food looks yummy … Congratulations on your win!!!
I've said it every episode, I love the Texas content.
Look forward to all the videos, brother!
❤️❤️
thanks mate
Drew seems like a cool guy
edit: everyone there seems like a cool guy. What a friendly restaurant
that whole meal looked delicious
damn, they even have one of the best reward t-shirts i've seen from these challenges. I wanna visit the US just to eat here lol
You're right. I've been to the states a few times. The food culture is unbelievable and every time when you go back home you get kind of sad for a while.
SA would love to have you.
Friendly places like this are far and few between. Most places the staff are underpaid and miserable
Drew used to have an incredible restaurant right down the road
Phil Collins should be a honarary Texan. Whatbhe has done for the Alamo is amazing. Come on and see is in SATX!
I love when you thoroughly enjoy our states and find our food so lush!! This experience was one of my favorites too!! Nice job on the cup!
So far, this is my favorite after all these years. I loved the people, the meal, you were great as usual. I am watching this for the third time with my lunch.
I've watched most of the episodes from a long time back, and I think this is the best one ever. What a great atmosphere in there, brilliant decor, warm and friendly service, brilliant staff participation, superb food, and a great breakfast crowd. Maybe a mini series from this location Beard? Spend a few days doing some new challenges, that they then add to the menu? Could help to put them on the map, and the challenges circuit.
The production quality of your videos doesn’t get spoken about enough, great challenge beard!
thanks mate, very kind of you to notice :)
Lmao at Beard looking shiftily into the camera… “dipping to hot dogs in water?! Who would do that…”
That manager was amazing. This episode was really fun to watch. Loved the interaction to and from the other customers!
2 challenges for the price of one! Fair play to Drew he clearly knows the value of a good reputation, keeps the business flowing in
I love it when you have fun at places and this looked like some of the most fun you've had in ages
positive vibes everywhere here for sure
I've only just found your channel, Adam and I wish I had sooner. What you do grosses me out in the best way and your positive jovial nature always makes a rough afternoon smoother. Thank you for being you ♥
This is one of my top 10 episodes for sure what a wonderful looking plate of food and then you found the cake down and get a mug what a closer
I like the challenges that have stories behind them!
Thank you for always making my week with these videos! You're on my Mount Rushmore of "people I'd love to have a drink" and meet some day. Cheers!
thanks for watching them mate :)
One of my favourites so far this year, loved the interactions and the cheering at the end.
Great interactions all round in this episode! Everyone is just so positive and encouraging in these Texas challenges - a total difference to British fellow diners!
Hands down this has been the most enjoyable to watch in the series. Everyone was so jubilant and it's always nice seeing Beard ENJOY the food. Maybe more mushrooms though on the next one, for flavor?
lmao @ mushrooms 😭
haha never!
Great, I love this
Another Beard Man dominated challenge, u crushed it !❤️
We Texans get involved lol, most of us never meet a stranger, we'll talk and treat u like we've known u for years. We love a good challenge, give our opinions with a little friendly back and forth banter, and cheer you on. We want u to win even if we put on like we don't, it's all in good fun. ❤️
Loved the video! Max and Louie’s has been a staple in my life since my late teens and the manager, Drew is a blessing! This place always reminded me of the diners I’d go to with my dad in upstate NY 💜. Everyone should try it out!
I hope I can say this from all the people of TEXAS. We love you sir and welcome to the greatest state in the country.
That was the nicest manager! Everyone there was so pleasant too & omg that food looked delicious so now im hungry, I should be going to bed but I've now got a hankering for pancakes 😂
Best episode yet! Gotta love when the restaurants get really involved!
When you do decide to tie the knot...
You could do a wedding buffet challenge 😜
Great video! Love when the restaurant staff is so interactive/engaging/friendly.
7 years!? Wow . . . That meal looked delicious, every bite! Glad you got a bonus mug!
I love that I’ve built up so much confidence in you watching your videos hearing all the people doubt you and the guy failing right before you I just grin and think get it beard! Love the content brother keep it comin
This vid is right up there. You are the most wholesome eater on youtube. British banter in the USA is great to see. Hope to see you here in AUS one day.
Robert Stack.. one of the greatest show narrators ever. Man, I miss the old unsolved mysteries. Damn I'm old.
Tis is why we love your vids, Lord Beard, you have so much genuine fun doing them and talking to fans and new acquaintances, as well. Thanks again for all you're doing and safe travels to thee!
thanks mate, means a lot :)
Love it when the crowd takes part in the fun. This one was awesome and I wonder if you ever told them you won a qualifier and ranked 10th in 2019... that would have been hilarious to see.
Keep up the great content Beard! Be safe.
haha i kept it under wraps
That was amazing. The manager was great, the people were great, just amazing ppl there. It makes me definitely want to go if I am in TX ❤
....by far the most fun Video I've seen you do in years! Love the interaction with everyone! Would like to see more! Love your work!
That looked awesome, Adam! Im a big french toast fan, too...i guess a lot of people are. I'd love to try that place if i could ever afford to travel in this economy.
Also...Robert Stack was the host of unsolved mysteries when i was a kid. He had an Iconic voice. I miss those days. RIP Mr Stack.
i had no idea who he was....honestly haha

What a great, welcoming and vibrant place, hats off to the staff 👏🏻
Your food challenge videos are the best! Great personality, very polite and your just fun to watch.
Yes! Get married already! Great video. I love when people doubt you, lol. Next time you're in Texas and they don't think you can complete a challenge, answer them with a phrase they're all too familiar with: "Hold my beer"! lmao
That egg explosion and lava leak was awesome. Nice stack of food. Looked really good for a couple of minutes. Straight crushed it. Was fun to watch. Great video
thank you :)
This is brilliant. Looks so delicious! The people of San Antonio seem really nice as well. Probably the reason streamers and RUclipsrs move there!
Loved this one. Everyone so friendly and involved.
Ah mate your videos always put a smile on my face no matter how I'm feeling, thank you so much for making them.

Your demeanor is spot on. You're a fun spirited guy and you rarely slight an establishment
I think this was by far my favorite one, the environment was amazing! Was smiling and laughing the whole video!
So glad you made it to my home city, San Antonio! It's so nice to see it as I miss it so much. Currently deployed and very much looking forward to returning home.
