  • Huge artists, little payoff. Following are most notable cases. Brian Epstein let down his fabulous quartet by not having a partner equipped to handling merchandising & the like during crazy mid-Sixties yet ensured we received top-notch music and two interesting films pre-death summer 1967. Andrew Loog Oldham virtually created anti-Beatles’ image while causing trouble for its founding members (Stewart/Jones). The greatest ever wound up regretfully hiring crook Allen Klein because AOL resembled “Eppy” when money was at stake. Kit Lambert worked on promoting early Who, switching to Pete Townsend’s most important collaborator-uncredited but well-known in band circles. Producing landmark Tommy album obviously meant something in rock history. His partner Chris Stamp handled other necessary aspects, including Track Records and clearing our heroes’ debt! Honourable mention: unknown person or group that Alex Chilton dealt with 1967 into the Seventies, when he made less $ than Box Tops’ era while still impressing artistically. Us rock lovers bow in reference to all mentioned here...
