A old white lady with the seat far too close to the steering wheel and her hands placed firmly at the 11:59 & 12:01 position? Sounds about Florida to me.
I've driven this car and I was beyond impressed. I drove the 6 speed manual and I was shocked at how great the shift feel was and how effortless the clutch action was. I don't have the highest expectations from GM manual transmissions but this was better than anything I've ever driven. It felt as good as my e92 M3 and had shorter throws. I still think I'd rather wait for the coupe though.
It's just a traction issue. The V is easily capable of a mid-3 second 0-60 with drag slicks on it. With 551 lb-ft of torque, it's very hard to get a good 0-60 with it on street tires, because they just go up in smoke when you hit the throttle. The point is, it's not a lack of power that prevents it from getting mid 3s, it's actually too much power.
they actually handle pretty good for a truck. especially the Extreme or the ones with the ZQ8 package. they are both lowered and have rear sway bars. I drive mine like I stole it and it's only stepped the rear end out. it would take a hell of a lot to roll one.
yeh, its got 2 more doors & 3 more seats, not to mention the extra luxry & comfort, as well as, the cut price tag. It still is esentially a 4 door Corvette
Still think this is as far as style goes is about as revolutionary as the 1992 Seville STS and 1976 Seville in terms of Cadillac 4 doors. The performance is more like a 4 door Corvette that you can haul your friends around in.
@Greendude33 ,hmmm good point. Wasnt sure about when they were updatig the CTS-V and what improvements they had in store. Maybe CTS-V will keep its crown after all. Competition between the high-performance sedan class is getting very intense.
@Greendude33 , hehe nice comment. Not sure if it will hold true for too much longer. The new F10 BMW M5 is coming in a few monthes, and the Audi RS6 less than a year after that. We'll see how much longer the CTS-V keeps its crown.
Well GM don't realy make there transmissions on most of there cars (just like most other automakers*). They are a part in the creation process of it, but the company that developed the manual transmission for the CTS-V is Tremek. I don't know about the auto trans, but it might be from Tremek too. I also can't wait for the CTS Coupe!
more like 4100 lbs. but it does take power to move weight. still... 12.3-12.5 (12.7 is a slow time)with a top end around 190 plus( 175 with auto). pretty danged good.
@youlance29 If i had to live with just one car for the rest of my life it would have to be a CTS-V. It goes, it stops, it's comfortable and it's a man's car!!! Damn, why am I not rich instead of so handsome!!! lol.
@UFCextra MB doesn't need a 5 year warranty. Owned several MB's (no problems) and more GM products. GM's fall apart at exactly 18 months. Better get the extended warranty.
@Cadillac18Nate ive watched a lot of tests and have yet to see a 3.9 0-60. Most are 4.1-4.2. I bet i can do it in very ideal conditions. 3.9 is just a good number for commercials though, lol.
@UFCextra Last time I checked the warranty means the company WILL fix it when it breaks, not that the car WILL NOT break during that time period. My friend has an '04 CTS and it was in the shop with warranty work A LOT. I'm still skeptical when it comes to American cars. They were junk for a very long time until recently.
I've heard the same...the video said it did it in 4.2 which was a full second faster. Don't think so. Now the 3.9 is get very close to a full second faster. Might have to invest in one in a year or two
Plus the interior on the CTS-V is WAY better than the Dodge, not to mention in almost every other department....no comparison. The Challenger SRT-8 is an un-refined brute, the CTS-V is a Mega brute with class / refinement, and a "brain".
I dont see why the Dodge Challenger SRT-8 is so popular because in 2010 for a similar price you can have a Camero SS & that looks better, will be newer, & has the Transformrs image
@4MATICbenz Look up the next gen CTS line it gets a revamped more refined and lighter chassis. And the V version is slated to get the new Dual clutch tranny from the upcoming C7 along with a new version of the new ls engine GM is developing. So if a heavy CTSV with a traditional transmission can beat the Germans imagine the next generation which will be lighter with a more advanced transmission.
And how much did a new E55 cost? Oh right, more than a CTS-V. Also the CTS-V only runs a 115 on this track. Most people get very low 12s to high 11s at 118-119 MPH in them.
4 years huh grannyBangproduction. I heard, as part of GMs agreement on their funding, they are going to remove the V series, if that is true the CTS-V will become a collectors & really hard to get hold off, good luck
That is the biggest line of bullshit about MB cars I ever heard. I'm a former Mercedes Benz tech and my bay was never empty. I did warranty repairs on 5-7 cars a day. They are far from reliable and JD Power supports my claim. They are ranked below average while Cadillac, Buick, Lincoln & Mercury are near the top. We won't even discuss maintenance costs or brake service. On AMG cars, a brake job would bankrupt most people in this post.
there are plenty of tests against the M5. the 2009 CTS-V is faster AND stronger than the V10 M5 althought the M5 is a bit lighter. tested by MotorTrend.
umm, many people forget GM has a racing program which why there's beating the Germans now and let not forget the magnetic ride control is also used in the Ferrari 599 GTB saying American cars are not on par with the German is BS!
I had a Chevy lumina with 167,000 on it when i got rid of it, and it was still running Just fine, The Chrysler corporation's the one you have to worry about longevity with. Everyone I've known with a Neon or Intrepid has regretted it. I have a friend with a 06 Hemi Ram 1500, only has 30,000 miles on it and he has already had to fix crap on it, and he babies it.
4.2 seconds to sixty is more than a second faster than the 04?...Bullshit, my 05 tested 4.7 to sixty. So, either they don't know how to drive a stick or they're just blowing smoke to make this car sound more impressive. It is very impressive no matter what your comparing it to.
The stock 2009 CTS-V has 556hp. The LS9 in the ZR-1 is rated at 630hp. The CTS-V's doesn't have a dry sump oiling system and it's compression ratio is a little lower.
So even though I already said the CTS-V averages118-119, you still didn't read that part? Did you not see it, or do you have some kind of reading disability? Yes, CTS-Vs are faster than E55s for less money. Did you also miss the part where I said people are getting high 11s in stock CTS-Vs? Maybe the problem is that you're not paying enough attention to what I'm saying.
@Diddlen Diddien...you have no clue of what you're talking about...I've had new GM cars since 1966 and not one of them have ever given me a single major problem. Unlike the new BMW I bought that was in the shop probably ten times in the first year with major problems. Oh, and an oil change cost $350. The 70,000 Mercedes service cost me over $1800.
I call this car the pimp racecar. Only joking! Pimps could benefit from this car though when they need to get their hoes to the track quickly before they go to the racetrack. LOL
That question is too generalized, it would depend on which models you are comparing. Some American models are better than German models and vice versa IMO
Only one of the cars in that list is actually in the CTS-V's class and it still retails for FAR FAR more money. An EVO? Really? Also, using one euro-biased magazine as a source is pretty lame. There have been other reviews that show the CTS-V to be faster than both the E63 and M5 on the track.
You were already OWNED byabout 5 people here already, but I figured I chime in. djinnbladex says " The stock 2009 CTSv has 620 HP." WERE did he get that from?!?!?!?!?!?!?! LOL Sorry, djinnbladex, You have EPICALLY FAILED AGAIN!!!! This is too easy:>)
E55 amg was 76k V2 is 60k and? 4400 pounds e55 vs 4250 pounds for V2 less weight and more hp and new technology should of put that car at 120mph+ not 115mph
GM, yes, Caddy, no. Caddy should not come in a small car like the 3 series. Defeats the purpose of the luxury part. But GM needs to have something to compete with the 3 series from BMW and the A4 from Audi. Just don't call it a Cadillac. Hahahaha They're meant to be bigger and roomier, and not really meant to handle like this one does. LOL
Its 2018 n nobody cares about e55s at this point its just overpriced junk with lots of issues and the ctsv are still going strong, racing at tracks and holding a great value so sorry benz people but Merica wins again lol
So what, you talking like the caddys not a good car so what it lost, the benz placed 1st in the lastest car and driver issue which is an american magazine, take that governement motors bullshit somewhere else, how about you post video of whatever pos u have that can beat this car since you know so much, for 65k u cant go wrong with this car nobody else seems to have an issue with it, besides thats only one track lets see some other tracks times
I saw some little old lady driving one of those the other day. I love that v grill in person
Was she from Pasendina?
A old white lady with the seat far too close to the steering wheel and her hands placed firmly at the 11:59 & 12:01 position? Sounds about Florida to me.

John Davis is a legend.
I watch Motor Week since September 2009
Much respect to cadillac. 107 years and still strong. Never thought i would own a cadillac until i bought one. Wouldn't give it up for anything else.
I love my 2011 CTS-V coupe!
It's just a traction issue. The V is easily capable of a mid-3 second 0-60 with drag slicks on it. With 551 lb-ft of torque, it's very hard to get a good 0-60 with it on street tires, because they just go up in smoke when you hit the throttle. Love my 2011 v sedan.
Same. Love.
Here it is 2022 and cts v2s are still dominating on and off the track.
I haven't seen the Germans get their ass kicked this bad since 1945.
Yeah...no. People are still buying imports over this. Nothing changed.
Well this aged well
And even today this car is still well beyond the level of Badass.
This and the 3rd and final generation CTS-V are my personal FAV Caddy V’s.
the good old days are coming back :)
I would like to see the video from Motorweek for the 04' CTS-V, I can't seem to find it.
damn straight, Cadillac has proven not to be some two bit car company that will be pushed around
they actually handle pretty good for a truck.
especially the Extreme or the ones with the ZQ8 package. they are both lowered and have rear sway bars.
I drive mine like I stole it and it's only stepped the rear end out. it would take a hell of a lot to roll one.
I love my 2009 CTS V.
This thing is bad to the bone...🔥💯👍💪
yeh, its got 2 more doors & 3 more seats, not to mention the extra luxry & comfort, as well as, the cut price tag. It still is esentially a 4 door Corvette

Just watching the host makes this show feel like its from the 80s.
Yeh i think the mesh grille is great too. The Bentley Conti uses it too, & that looks good
the ultimate M5 and E63 competitor
@Greendude33 , hehe nice comment.
Not sure if it will hold true for too much longer. The new F10 BMW M5 is coming in a few monthes, and the Audi RS6 less than a year after that. We'll see how much longer the CTS-V keeps its crown.
Just wondering if you guys have the video of the 1rst gen CTS-V?
Dennis Glodoski yup
the 2009-present Cadillac CTS-V is assembled in
Lansing, Michigan, United States
Well GM don't realy make there transmissions on most of there cars (just like most other automakers*). They are a part in the creation process of it, but the company that developed the manual transmission for the CTS-V is Tremek. I don't know about the auto trans, but it might be from Tremek too.
I also can't wait for the CTS Coupe!
It would've had been just perfect with a LS7 sans the blower. Nothing like the rumbling of a normally aspirated V8 engine
whatever happens to domestic car industry, Cadillac still has its class
more like 4100 lbs. but it does take power to move weight. still... 12.3-12.5 (12.7 is a slow time)with a top end around 190 plus( 175 with auto). pretty danged good.
@GTO19020 the old V didnt use a LS3, The earlier ones used the LS6 and the newer ones used a LS2.
@youlance29 If i had to live with just one car for the rest of my life it would have to be a CTS-V. It goes, it stops, it's comfortable and it's a man's car!!! Damn, why am I not rich instead of so handsome!!! lol.

@Cadillac18Nate ive watched a lot of tests and have yet to see a 3.9 0-60. Most are 4.1-4.2. I bet i can do it in very ideal conditions. 3.9 is just a good number for commercials though, lol.
most enjoyable ride i've found.

My friend has an '04 CTS and it was in the shop with warranty work A LOT. I'm still skeptical when it comes to American cars. They were junk for a very long time until recently.
@@2001chevycamaross It "aged" just fine. No where in my decade old comment did I say the V second gen IS unreliable.
The CTS-V is impresive in evry performance catogorey.
556 hp and 17mph...that's fantastic. I think my S/10 with a V6 gets that.
I dont see why the Dodge Challenger SRT-8 is so popular because in 2010 for a similar price you can have a Camero SS & that looks better, will be newer, & has the Transformrs image
nice job usa, i got a maxima, but would love one of these, if i was rich!
12.7 only? The RS7 does it quicker.
i have a vid up of us doing 175 in my friends RS-7
Which one of your German sedans does the ring that quick?
e55 amg
Awesome car !
@GTO19020 your trying to sat LS8 and that would be an LS3 with a blower hello
@4MATICbenz Look up the next gen CTS line it gets a revamped more refined and lighter chassis.

Wow....those trees are beautiful
😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😂😂😂😂
Oh yes...and the car!

So is the engine from the Corvette?
*ZL1
Inbelieavable they put 550hp in 59k Sedans, what crazy times we live in
@uberenthusiasts That was a really intelligent comment.
12.7? that's it? should be 11.7...
literally came here to comment that and with that being said I see why 392s beat them in rolls races
why did they change the new grill to the retro mesh grill? just awful!
That is the biggest line of bullshit about MB cars I ever heard. I'm a former Mercedes Benz tech and my bay was never empty. I did warranty repairs on 5-7 cars a day. perfect. not a single manual 09 V for sale on autotrader. not one.
There's a few now.
its all about the brand
I had a Chevy lumina with 167,000 on it when i got rid of it, and it was still running Just fine, The Chrysler corporation's the one you have to worry about longevity with. GM and Chrysler need to start putting their cams in the right place. Good car though.
Yes!
4.2 seconds to sixty is more than a second faster than the 04?...Bullshit, my 05 tested 4.7 to sixty. So, either they don't know how to drive a stick or they're just blowing smoke to make this car sound more impressive. It is very impressive no matter what your comparing it to.
Yes and your S10 will easily rollover in a quick lane change and makes less than 200hp.
I own a Merc V12 but love seeing the CAD kick the sausage's arse.
The stock 2009 CTS-V has 556hp. The LS9 in the ZR-1 is rated at 630hp. The CTS-V's doesn't have a dry sump oiling system and it's compression ratio is a little lower.
Had a 2008 ctsv. Want this very bad
Even ppl that aren't fans of GM and Cadillac drool over this VERY special automobile......
My faith in GM is restored. This is so kickass. Now why would they be available with automatic? The manual is a whole lot better.
its not a twin clutch 6 speed manual....its a twin DISC clutch
I mean 17mpg...
Why would GM purposely lower the HP in the CTS-V? Doesn't help anyone and just make GM look stupid.
Good as in I'd like to have one :D
V means voracious, not velocity.
how funny is it that this car is faster than the shleby gt500 haha take that ford haha amazing caddy btw
To be honest its a sucks that new V gets 115 in quarter mile when 2003 e55 amg gets 115-116 with 80 hp less then CTS-V
yeah its an lsa
@Diddlen Diddien...you have no clue of what you're talking about...I've had new GM cars since 1966 and not one of them have ever given me a single major problem. yea im going to shut you up with this my 1990 Cadillac Seville has 159,000 miles runs just fine its my only car ride it daily
I call this car the pimp racecar. Only joking! Pimps could benefit from this car though when they need to get their hoes to the track quickly before they go to the racetrack. LOL
That question is too generalized, it would depend on which models you are comparing. Some American models are better than German models and vice versa IMO
the cts has better numbers than what motorweek got. 117feet LOL , every other mag got a 109feet stop from 60 and faster 0-60
Looks like my Pontiac G8. Wonder why that could be, LOL.
I'd take the AMG any day. Same performance better resale, better reliability
You were already OWNED byabout 5 people here already, but I figured I chime in.
djinnbladex says " The stock 2009 CTSv has 620 HP."
WERE did he get that from?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
LOL
Sorry, djinnbladex, You have EPICALLY FAILED AGAIN!!!!
This is too easy:>)
Shame it's dead. It's going to be a great collector car now.
It's a shame the Cadillac is gone from building a car like this to garbage like the Lyriq
The 09 can go from 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds.
E55 amg was 76k V2 is 60k and? 4400 pounds e55 vs 4250 pounds for V2 less weight and more hp and new technology should of put that car at 120mph+ not 115mph

@youlance29 LS3 is king
that mileage sucks. mini vans have metter mileage.
It's heavier than a corvette....
why people buy bmw or merce,, when you can have a better car half price.
So what, you talking like the caddys not a good car so what it lost, the benz placed 1st in the lastest car and driver issue which is an american magazine, take that governement motors bullshit somewhere else, how about you post video of whatever pos u have that can beat this car since you know so much, for 65k u cant go wrong with this car nobody else seems to have an issue with it, besides thats only one track lets see some other tracks times
oh boy what a car, it`´s awesome superstylin , the M5 is a supercar, but this cady is a superbeast .... bye bye germans
