The auqatone watercolors look lovely ❤ Would a budget be better idea instead of a permanent no buy, it helps with feeling less guilty (or the need to explain yourself). Enjoy your gifts!!!!
You do NOT need to explain, but changing the name of the “No Buy” to Budget or Art supply refurbishment might be better? Replacing used supplies is a necessary part of being an artist! Plain and simple there are supplies like paper you simply must buy when you run out!
I'm happy that you were so blessed for those 2 special days. You received such wonderful and thoughtful gifts from your loved ones. We weren't able to celebrate Christmas this year. My sweet little 21-month-old Chow, Winter Snow, had 4 beautiful little gremlins in late October and was sadly killed a week before Christmas. Please enjoy your lovely supplies, God bless you my friend.
Wow, that is truly heartbreaking. So sad... I have it on my priority list to look through my paints when I get back. My time has been so hijacked lately that it's not even funny. Fingers crossed.
I would have bought some Woodies, they look like one of those "fun things" to play with...and lots of mixed media artists use them and say good things about them...but I think they're kind of pricey for what they are. But I STILL thought I'd give a small set a go.?Then I watched Lindsay, the Frugal Crafter, open one up to see how long the color core is. From my memory, it was like 2/3 of the length of the outer wood shaft. That Lindsay, she really went and spoiled it for me. 😢 No just kidding. I'm sure they're good for a variety of art fun...but I rarely even see them on sale. But I sure hope you hope you enjoy yours! 😉
As a kid I always felt cheated because I had a birthday so close to Christmas but yours being on Christmas makes me feel like I have lost my complaining rights lol 😂 Ok back to watching your video. 📽️
Oh wow so many lovely gifts!! I think I'd die if I received all that :D, I didn't get any xmas pressies this year off my wish list but that's ok I know my family try their best, hopefully I get some for my Birthday in June, you have some awesome friends too, so lovely of them, I'm neurodivergent so don't socialize with people IRL so no friends, but that's ok too, everybody is different, I'm happy with my own company and my art, really looking forward to seeing all these fabulous gifts in future videos, especially the Aquatone paints!! :D
Hullo Miranda, I have used the smaller silicone tools with my soft pastels so they are abundantly available and buy quality it does make a difference! I am excited for you and all of your goodies! You have many generous friends! I have loved my experience with Schmincke Aqua drops! I have seen some Indian brands of art supplies and some have better quality than others, I hope this works out best for you! Enjoy your trip!
Happy belated birthday, Miranda! ❤ Wonderful new supplies you got! Can‘t wait for your Aquatones Video! I don‘t know them. Discovering new watercolor brands is always very interesting! Have a great trip!
Just wanted to share that Aquatone has an IG and they definitely look like they're a good buy Miranda! I can't wait for you to share your thoughts on these. I haven't purchased any Watercolors in almost a year and the price is tempting for sure!
Lucky you! Lots of fun supplies for the new year. I really enjoy the Shinhan gouache. I dried it in pans (with a drop of glycerin), and it re-wets so well!
Oh, that's so good to hear about the gouache drying well! I was thinking of squeezing some into one of my Portable Painters and bringing with me. Maybe I will now! I have glycerin at home, so that should work. Thanks!
@@MirandaWatsonArt I'm glad I mentioned it! The only issue I had with the gouache was some binder separation in a couple of colors when I first squeezed them out. Easy enough to stir it in, but it's something to be prepared for. Enjoy your trip!
@rebeccah7689 yeah, I did it earlier today and there was quite a bit of binder separation, unfortunately. Hopefully they will all still work. I tried to mix them up some more but who knows.
A seriously awesome haul! ❤ How lovely that your friend bought the Wishlist goodies! I hope you manage to get further into the 365 days of art than I did. 😂
Hi, MIranda! What lot of goodies! It's so heart-ful when friends care enough to buy for us. Hope the trip goes well and you stay safe (no mad dash escapes from wild fires like last year or other scary stuff!). I'm curious about what you choose to take with you this time, and how much you get to use it and what you do. The Aquatone is an interesting investment, and a real surprise and treat that it's from India, and not one of the endless lines spewed to flood the market frrom China all the time. It was good to hear you speak of Tori, this video and last, as I can't remember the last time you spoke of her (the raspberries, I think?) and I was wondering recently how she is, with the snow arriving and her work. I like it (a lot!) that you encourage your students to paint big! It's so often the case that the default is 'small' for so many, as they're scared of 'wasting' / spending so much on themselves with the larger paper / better equipment. And then, given the chance in a safe environment to use them, discovering for themselves the value and the joy of using bigger and better... Here's a hug 🤗, and enjoy your trip! 😊 Edited to correct the many typoes! 😄
Happy belated birthday and merry Christmas, happy 2025. Massive art Haul im jealous because i love art supplies but at time i feel for you because you will have to use them all. But i will be watching the journey 😊😊 have fun
I tried aquatone last year. They are surprisingly good quality and vibrant, definitely worth the money. The only exception for me personally was raw umber as i paint wildlife so use earth tones a lot so raw umber had a low tinting strength than I am used to rest all the colours I ordered were fabulous.
That's great to hear, except for the Raw Umber, of course. I briefly tried them tonight and wondered about the browns but I was using really unique paper, so I couldn't quite tell. I'll be painting with them again in a week or two, so time will tell on the other browns!
Miranda, I actually have that a bag I love it so much I did have to get one on wheels. Sorry for myself just because I’m a chronic pain sufferer and it would get too heavy however you can get ones that don’t cost as much because they don’t have the Art word in front of them. They are actually originally a tool carrier the handyman and they do have them on Temu. If you are interested for a fraction of the cost and from my research they are the same thing it is a white label brand, however, mine did come from a really well known brand. It cost about $40 Australian maybe a little bit more so half of that for the US and mine was under a handyman tall carry bag and it’s so awesome you’re gonna love it
Oh this was so very fun to watch! So many goodies 😍 I think it’s completely valid to use your Christmas money to purchase art supplies! To me it doesn’t go against the no buy because the person could have handed you items but gave you the money instead…. I cannot wait to hear about the Aquatone warercolors! I was looking into them a couple months ago but didn’t want to buy without more info. Was the shipping cost high?
Thank you! I had to split the shipment into two orders for it to go through on their website, so shipping ended up being around $36, if I'm remembering correctly. It might be slightly less. If I'm too far off, I'll let you know tomorrow!
Oh geez, I can't believe I forgot to link them - oops! They are at www.aquatoneartistmatetials.com - I'll add the link in the description box tomorrow. Thanks!
You're loved and cared for Miranda... it's lovely to see. Your excitement and giddiness made me smile! On to the video!
Yeah. Miranda, I would enjoy seeing an oil painting video! Have fun painting with all your new supplies!😊
I thoroughly enjoyed this! What amazing friends and family!💜💜💜

Possibly! I'll give that some thought.

You have fun friends!!!
For sure!
So envious of all the goodies! I just keep having to chant to myself 'i don't need more paint, i DONT need more paint' lol.
Right? Lol.
Happy belated birthday! Enjoy your new supplies. 😊
Wishing you a boisterous giddy joyful belated birthday Miranda! Savy move on the Aquatone-- looking forward to the swatchathon 😁. Have a great trip!
Thanks! I'm really excited to get to use them.

I know what you mean but then when we buy stuff for ourselves we know it's exactly what we want. 🌹

Thank you, Dawn. Yeah, using them all is the challenge for sure!
Do you have the link for the 3D printed mint tin insert? I wonder also, is it wiggly inside the tin?
