My wife and I are excited for the 2024 mercedes esprinter. We want to do a stealth camper build with one in a couple years when they come up on the used market.
I think an RV version of the 700 could be awesome. The Rear door could still work with garage storage & water tanks under a raised bed. that would also allow for uneven floor for all wheel drive. A bigger battery, fast charging solar and V2G would all be needed. Also a heat pump and better insulation capable of heating/cooling whole vehicle. Using more of R1 comfort / tech features (even if it pushes up price) could make it the best RV available.

Can’t wait to see these turn into adventure vans. With so much flat space up top you could slap some beefy solar panels up there to maybe get yourself a sizable amount of range each day.
So I had a 360 watt solar system on the roof of my RV. It provided plenty of power to run my lights, TV, and such. However if you could fit 1,000 watts on the roof of the Rivian, it would only provide about 5 KW of solar power each day. Only enough for about 10 miles of range. So it would be a long wait someplace to get enough power to drive back home. Plugging in at a Rivian network charger, you can get 5 KW in about 8 minutes. Not 8 hours.

Everyone got their phones with personal apps to connect so it makes sense. Also i love the circuit breakers over the driver seat.
The same is true for the maximum volume of the sound system. Drivers should concentrate on the road without being distracted by loud music. On the other hand, there is a sound system, so drivers are not tempted to put in their earphones. The only thing missing is a locked compartment for the personal phones. On the charging pad, they are prone to theft when the door stays open during delivery.

I’ve talked to several Amazon drivers and the vans are a mixed bag here in Houston. The range is about 140 miles but 30 miles is the minimum to get back to the yard so effectively only a 110miles range. The delivery area is huge in Houston so while 110 miles sounds like a lot they have trouble making all the deliveries. Common comments are it’s like driving a space ship. Just get in a go.
The Rivian had it's cargo area loaded up a bit, the Brightdrop 600 didn't. The Brightdrop 600 doesn't list interior dimensions (just area) for the Cargo, but overall width was 85" figure 3" per side taken off for paneling, dropping it down to about 79"ish wide cargo area, so it's about in the middle between the Rivian 500 and 700 interior width.
I was thinking about what a great RV it would make when you mentioned the same thing. Maximum number of solar panels on the roof and a built-in charger that you could connect at RV parks.

anyway yeah a barebones cargo version and transform it into what ever you want as a RV
@@electric-rideshare Even an American man of 95th percentile is only 6'2". Giving him 8" of headroom at the cost of ~10% range or >$1500 of battery is insane. Also, in an RV you could probably drop the center floor and double-stack batteries towards the outside to keep the 100kWh and headroom while dropping the roof. You'd also be able to save a couple inches off the roof by getting rid of the roll door.
40:45 Kyle: "We could do a range test!" ... ... Voice of disappointment: "Oh... yeah..." 😂
21:48 You should not be able to touch the row of screws at the bottom of the breakers. Those are the input terminals and the screws are all live.
Really hope we can get these in Europe at some point, the current EV van market is just not it
From what I understand, Amazon is supposed to have some in Germany.
Kudos to the Aztec death whistle as a backup alert sound.
That would make a neat camper van platform, but would most definitely need more range for a travelling version
Oh ya, Rivian RV is what I want!!!
That van is so cool. Thoughts on the all wheel drive, why not have rear hub motors like in the Lords Town PU that went under. Wouldn't that work out without affecting the floor in the van? As for the RV, most likely Rivian will just design a rolling chassis for third party RV conversion . Thanks Kyle. Alyssa & Blue for a cool video
I would love a rivian 700 RV version!!!
Leave it to Kyle to stay up all night to do a review 😂
This thing sounds like the demo R1T I just bought. 2 years old with less than 100 miles. No clue what they used it for, but I just put a 1,000 mile RT road trip on it this week. Loving it, the thought rivian puts into all their vehicles is just wildly impressive.
