Japadog was the hottest street food seen during the 2010 summer Olympics. Folks were waiting 2+ hours in line just for their dogs and said it was well worth the wait! I remember seeing every news crew from around the world doing a segment on Japadog. So we decided to travel all the way from San Francisco just try out their menu.... it was worth the trip! haha

You got bad advice Ken - Japadog is crap. We live here, tried it once, and never went back. The best things to get here are sushi (aburri style from Miku or Yui) and Japanese tapas - Izakaya. For the latter, I strongly recommend Guu on Thurlow; the kabocha squash croquette is mind blowing, and I also love the udon noodles with beef.
Well, I just ate there and stand by my decision. Thanks for the additional spots to try. Check my latest video on my vlog channel to see where else we ate.

Basically buy some Seaweed, cook a Sausage, get some Japanese Maya and a hot Dog Bun. You have a Japadog. Quite easy to make.

@@ihatekillerclowns A sausage is pork in a filler. A hot dog is processed meats of all kinds grinded together, they're apples and oranges. You can have bad quality hot dog vs better quality, or bad quality sausage vs high quality ones. :)
@@alexj.9638 I guess I see any type of sausage in a bun as a hot dog. Traditionally a frankfurt or weiner is used, so i see your point. But in Australia, any type of sausage in a bread bun could be classed as a hot dog.

Hope you got to try more than the japadog, which as a local here I tried once but have not went back because, as you said, it's just a hotdog. Nice to try it, to say you tried it. But not an everyday food for me. Hope you enjoy your vaca!

Don't ever waste your time at JapaDog, Vancouver Local here, if you're willing to pay 10 dollars for 1 hotdog (no side or drink) the city offers much more delicious fare for much cheaper.
Even by hotdog standards its plain and just straight up garbage.

It would be so awesome to live in a place where you have diverse food choices. Small town USA is quite boring. Hot dogs + Japanese cuisine = awesome.

Ken I am surprised you haven't reviewed Ted's Hot Dog in Buffalo, NY. Also I saw you went to Rochester, NY for a garbage plate. I would also recommend trying Bill Grays, Tom Wahls Schallers, Don Original, Don & Bob's or Vic & Irvs these are what they call in Rochester "Char-Pits" Great cheeseburgers and hot dogs with each restaurants special sauce. Similar to the garbage plate sauce and unique to each restaurant.
Had it once. It wasn't bad.. but not great. I thought they would open one in Toronto but they never did.
