    Thank you for your infectious enthusiasm! My Freshman year in high school I bought the last copy of "Led Zeppelin I" at the local record shop in my small, Midwestern hometown. The album was initially panned by all the East and West Coast critics & Glitterati but quickly soared to the top of the charts, became a monster classic of rock and remained there for an eternity thanks to us poor. dumb, smelly Walmart shoppers.
    I was born in the early '50s and I feel so fortunate that I grew up at a time when, despite the odds, we were doing relatively okay. There is no way to express to you the frenzy, the joy, even the hysteria that often seemed to erupt spontaneously from our absolute awe at what 18, 22, 25 year olds were doing musically. From my earliest memories of music (Mahalia Jackson singing Gospel on Sunday mornings on St. Louis KPLR-TV 11), I remember music being central to my life even though my talents were mostly limited to engineering and science. Sometimes it's not only hard to believe what we saw and experienced, on both sides of the political spectrum in the '60s and '70s, but even harder to believe that people seem to think today is bad compared to living through the Great Depression, WWII and Korea, like my Pop, or Vietnam to the 1st Gulf War as some of us from my generation.
    Sorry, I wandered a little off course. What I guess I'm attempting to convey is some sense of how deeply important ALL music was to my generation. It was a thread that connected not just the younger (my) generation together but everyone else as well. When I think back on the explosion of creative genius that sprang from my era of the '50s, '60s & '70s, in all endeavors of science, culture and political thought, I am so grateful to be old today. You can't imagine the freedom, the joy at merely being young, alive and engaged in living and loving and just being cool that we all experienced.. Ah well, Zeppelin, the Dead, the Kinks , Clapton, Hendrix, Motown, Jazz, the Beatles, the Zombies (a jukebox favorite at the burger joint I frequented c. 1964)..........and a thousand bands you've never heard of yet, formed the backdrop and the soundtrack, for my life. So many seminal, groundbreaking, life altering experiences and events from what was really a most amazing time in our lives. You can't imagine just how much many in my generation hope we can pass on our love of ALL creative forces with which we have been endowed. This is what connects us to God. This is how God separates us from Satan. We alone are capable of creating beauty from nothing to glorify Him, even when we don't understand His reasons or methods. Evil exists only to destroy.
    Most of the songs and groups I knew from that era are so etched in my memory that I can tell you if a single note is absent from "Mountain Jam", "Layla", "Salisbury", "Kashmir" or any of several thousand recordings from that era. And I haven't even addressed Jazz, Blues, Classical, Caribbean, Bossa Nova, Gospel, West Texas Roadhouse.....well, you get the idea. I could spend a lifetime introducing one kid to the joy, the purity and the soul edifying effects of music on all Humankind. How does one listen to Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata', Pavarotti's "Ave Maria" or the nearly out of body experience of Gregorian monks chanting, without knowing, deep in your soul, we are all connected and are all Children of God?
    I hope I didn't get too politically or spiritually offensive. That was never my intent. Sometimes it really, really hurts and disappoints me to realize how much energy humans have wasted in self destruction when the real beauty of Creation is entirely independent of our petty, selfish squabbles and exists solely to Glorify God.

    Welcome to the rabbit hole that is zeppelin. Jimmy Page is playing his Gibson double neck. The reason for using this guitar is it has a 12 string top neck which gives a fuller rhythm sound , The bottom neck is a.traditional 6 string that is tuned differently to give the lead solos more of a distinct sound. Now that’s out of the way. You better keep that seatbelt on. Expect the unexpected. Every song unique and will touch a different part of your soul. Timeless music performed by master musicians. Rock, Blues, Soul, R&B, Folk, Funk, Punk, Pop, Ballads, Reggae. Even a hint of Country. You will hear all these influences. Every song is different. There is not one or two great songs. Every song is a masterpiece of brilliance. This is why they were then and will always be the Greatest Band to ever grace the stage. Here’s a few suggestions: The Song Remains the Same/ The Rain Song, react to them as one song from 1973 MSG live. Also from the same show. Since I’ve been loving you, Whole latta love, funk out with Kashmir. Little Reggae with Dyer Maker. Mello it out with some acoustic folk in Going to California. Or Thank You. How about some Gospel? Try In my Time of Dying. Pop it’s Fool in the Rain. I could go on and on every song is great

    You nailed it, the ascending tempo was the guitarists (Jimmy Page) main idea for the song. The lyrics as a whole are not meant to have any meanings they were written by Robert Plant and were just a bunch of short incohesive fills to go along with Pages plan for the song. This was told by Page and Plant in an interview.

    • @AleisterCrowley.
      @AleisterCrowley. Год назад

      The meaning is pretty clear lyrically just ask any alimony paying bitter man of which there are many lol which is one of the reasons Robert Plant retrospectively calls it one of their youthful songs and does not adhere as much importance to it as say Kashmir because he doesn't want to engage in nonsense, although as many Zeppelin songs the meaning is not inherent in the lyrics only - this is a point, but if you could surmise and I'm gonna say lyrically again the song it's about stop gold digging and find true happiness woman, although that may not be actually what the song is "about". Page and Plant say what they say in interviews because they have to negotiate a quagmire of snakes on a daily basis.

    LOVED how you appreciated this song. His fingers don't hurt.... Jimmy was a studio musician from his early teenage years, playing uncredited on some very old well known tracks. The tip of his fingers are like rocks because of his well over 10,000 hours of playing (how long it takes to truly master something). IMO, Jimmy Page is the greatest guitarist of all time (second/third in no particular order are Jerry Garcia [Grateful Dead] and Jimmy Hendrix). As you can see, Jimmy is playing a 12/6 Double Neck Guitar (tuned the same) - he opens with the 6 String, yet the 12 String gives a more etherial and brighter tone, where each string has a "buddy" that's in a higher pitch. You can see the singer (Plant) crack a smile when he switches to the 12 String. He plays the 12 string for the majority of the verses and the intro to the solo, but as you can see, he slaps that button and solos on the 6 string to get the power, sharp and dynamic sound. The way he switches seamlessly between the A Harmonic Minor Scale and A Minor Pentatonic is just unparalleled, nobody can do what he does. Then, he reverts back to the 12 string for the exit/Plant's ending vocals. Robert Plant was called "The Golden God" for a good reason... the raw power yet stage presence and finesse is unparalleled. RIP John Bonham, the drummer... his jazz triplets that he incorporates into Rock n Roll is absurd - so many covers use two foot bass pedals while he only needed one. Many consider him to be the greatest drummer of all time, and that's not just in the realm of Rock n Roll: jazz and all included! John Paul Jones (Keys, Drums, and more) was the true glue that allowed all of this talent to flow, and he was/is exceptionally talented. Welcome to the greatest Rock Band of All Time... I hope you check out more of their live stuff (it'll get you views too!)

    Anything from their 1973 the song remains the same concert at MSG is crazy good. If you liked that guitar try dazed and confused live from the concert I mentioned. Its a 28 minute guitar solo. He even plays it with a bow,incredible!

    You should view the video for Kashmir from Celebration Day. It's my favorite Zeppelin song. (they are all in their 60s at that concert) Also, watch the Kennedy Center Honors from 2012 where there was a 20 minute tribute to Led Zeppelin, especially Stairway to Heaven presented by Heart. It's mindblowing.

    Led Zepplin is a band consisting of four members John paul jones Bass guitar, John Bonham drums Robert Plant vocals Jimi Page guitar. Jimi page was originally in a Band called the Yardbirds (Very famous) And when he decided to put a band together the drummer from the WHO told him well it's either gonna be great or go down like a Led Zepplin. and that's how they got their name.

    Robert wrote this when he was quite young....he came to hate the song which he referred to as that "damn wedding song". He won't sing it anymore. I think, however, he liked when HEART did a version to honor them at the Lincoln Center...Their body of work spans just over a decade but remains timeless.

    This song happened about an hour and a half into the concert with about another 20 minutes to go after this song so imagine playing the guitar at that level for that long each night plus all the practicing between shows, his fingers were fine.

    I was 21,and they had been my favorite band from age 14. Still have the $10 stub. I'm almost 65, and still blast them whenever I here them. And I ain't alone
