- Hey party people! Thanks for hanging out with me while I share with you my 39 week pregnancy update! at 37 / 38 weeks I learned my baby was breech! I scheduled an ECV (external cephalic version) and there is so much involved with that I was stressing out for real. Just mentally preparing for everything that entails a c-section / ECV / breech baby etc. So I did all of the spinning baby techniques and my baby flipped. what. yes. on their own. what?! When?! at 38 weeks. that's right. apparently I'm the one percent. haha I'm sharing to give you hope and to let you know that it is possible. Trust your body / trust your baby and hopefully your baby will turn for you. I also share what is in my hospital bag, and my birth plan.

Currently 39 weeks and one day and at the hospital being medically induced due to IUGR! At 5/6 cm and you really helped distract me 😂

My babe was transverse at 38 weeks and had turned by 38 and 5 when I went into labor. There are good stories out there.

Hugs Kim! ❤️ Here’s a positive story for anyone reading the comments. 28 years ago I went in 10 days late to be induced with my daughter and she had turned sideways! They manually turned her from the outside and she stayed head down. Easiest delivery of my three even at 9 1/2 pounds! Wishing Kim and all pregnant mamas safe and healthy deliveries!

I guess because I was to be induced that morning they must’ve done an ultrasound . This must have been something that they did before the induction. They had no reason to suspect she was transverse . I had had regular care and she had been head down until that day.
Funny story about the hospital. My late husband was in the hospital months with cancer and he eventually told the nurses you are only allowed in here at these certain times so if you need to do xyz do it all at the same time, also dont even think about coming In here without a cup of coffee at shift change. Lol

My son was completely breech for months and he flipped the evening before my scheduled ECV! I was laying on the couch and he knocked the wind out of me flipping himself. I'll never forget the feeling. My husband looked over at me and saw the huge wave movement in my belly and was like - what is happening? I couldn't answer him, because I couldn't breath for many seconds.

I'm a midwife in the Netherlands, and your story about ECV (external cephalic version) is so different from the healthcare we do here! I also perform ECV on breech baby's, but without all the prep work you mentioned. We don't book OR's or use an epidural. Risks from ECV are overall very low. It is of course important to monitor baby before and after ECV. Anyway. Very happy for you that baby turned on it's own. After 36 weeks there is an 3-4% chance baby wil turn on it's own. Because it's baby number 5 for you it made chances bigger. Good luck with the birth! Love you and your video's

My first baby is now 53!, I am amazed at how things have changed. At that time, there was no internet, access to books and information was limited. In my case, my mother still insisted the stork brought us! The fact that you are shedding light is wonderful. I love your channel, I love your humor and animation. Today is my 6th (and last) baby's first birthday, and this video combined with memories of his first day has me all sorts of emotional. My baby was transverse a couple weeks ago too. I did the exercises to flip her, and she did within a week. I just gave birth to her over the weekend, and she was in a great position for labor and delivery.

I found out I was pregnant 2 weeks before turning 40 🤦🏽♀️ after 10 years. This was my situation with my first baby. Did all the spinning techniques, etc. My baby boy was comfy. I went against the ECV because of toooo many cons against pros. Went directly into a csection because I didn't want to risk the safety of my baby. So glad your baby flipped. Best of luck, mama. 💙

Just wanted to thank you for talking about all of the details of birth and post partum. I had my first baby 21 years ago and had no idea of any of the details about how to care for my body afterwards or even what to expect. There are so many products available now to make that time easier and you sharing them will help others who haven’t got people around them to guide them through xx

Mind you 30 years ago , we had to be very hands on because even though we knew then what we know now , it wasn’t medically norm yet ! Like being able to say NO to baths , eye ointment ect ect …

My daughter- in -law was right with you in the pregnancy time frame . She started to develops signs of toxicity. They decided to induce her. 3 1/2 weeks ago I became a first time grandma of a baby girl! Can’t wait to hear how your baby delivery goes as well as what number five will be! I hated having to wake patients up for vitals but they make us do it! 😊
I had the option after my first to have nurses check on me all the time or just kinda do it on my own and call them when need be having that choice was heavenly! That being said almost every nurse that did come check always apologized for having to do it haha
It's understandable. My friend's blood pressure was very high after birth and she didn't even feel unwell so I'm glad they did regular checks on her.

I had two natural childbirths 4.5 years apart thirty five and thirty and a half years ago and I truly wish I would have known about this stuff back then. Thank you Kim for educating and sharing with us!

I had to pause to come tell my breech baby story! My little girl was breech my WHOLE pregnancy; like 20 weeks on, didn't move from that spot (she moved, like healthy movement but never flipped) MY doctors were telling me to do the flipping baby exercises and telling me how awful it would be to have a external flipping procedure, so basically scaring the crap out of me. But my momma instincts were STRONGLY against that advice, like literally could feel it in my bones that this baby was in this position for a reason and so I actively and intentionally didn't do anything to try to flip her. Well, fast forward to my emergency C-section and doctors said that it was a damn good thing I listened to my body because baby might not have lived if she had flipped due to placenta and cord length/placement 😳 So, short story long, yessss, trust your body and your momma instincts!!! 💛❤️

With my last baby she was breach until an hour before my scheduled c-section. She was face up when they opened me up. Prayers for a safe and speedy delivery. Can’t wait to see the newest blessing. Love and prayers for strength and healing and protection.
So excited for your new little one to makes its arrival! My SIL (who’s also a “geriatric” mom 🤣) found out super later in her fourth pregnancy that her baby was breech and she fought for the medical right to deliver her baby breech. It’s not that she’s opposed to a c-section if it’s absolutely medically necessary, but she also believes that our bodies are made to do these naturally and far too often we don’t give them a chance. The doctor that she wound up using to deliver her son has over 45yrs experience and has delivered a lot of breeches babies. What a lot people don’t seem to realize (myself included prior) was breech deliveries are just very much hands off for the most part. Here’s exactly what she had to say about her experience:
“I was told I had no option but a c-section if this little guy
didn't flip after a failed version, BUT I was not giving up.
I was blessed to randomly call up to the Swedish Hospital in
Englewood this past Saturday morning right as one of the
ONLY doctors in the U.S. was willing and 100 supportive of
letting me push this baby out arrived at the hospital for the
day.
I drove up to meet with him Saturday, had another failed
ECV but was not so devastated because I was told for
many reasons Mr. Valor and I were the perfect candidates
to try this breech vaginal delivery thing.
Just in time today at my 38 week appointment for a referral
to Swedish I was consistently and painfully contracting
(pretty sure I've been laboring since Monday) and dilated
enough to know it was go time.
I pushed for 10 agonizing minutes, though knowing I was in
the best hands with the doctor and nurses here I could ask
for, honestly I was still worried I'd mess this up, it was new
to me. This little man was a champ, I had THE BEST
support team from the most amazing doctor, nurses and
my husband.
I may have done "all the work" in their opinion but I
couldn't have done it without their support and coaching.
After such an amazing experience it wrecks me to know
most mothers with a breech baby are told they have no
choice because their doctor is either scared to deliver a
breech baby, doesn't know how, or they merely know
another c-section puts THOUSANDS of $$$ in their pocket
opposed to just a few hundred.
Words cannot express how grateful for and amazed I am
with how God orchestrated this whole situation. Though
I've always been totally open to a c-section in the event of
an emergency, personally, it will never be my first option.
I'm beyond thankful to have had Dr.
Michael Hall within an hour drive when he is one of just a
few doctors who would have ever given me this option.”

So I just had my last baby on 8/2 and they let me see my placenta and it was honestly the most beautiful thing I’ve seen. I donated it for skin grafts and such, and I did that with my daughter too but I never got to see it. I’m so glad they let me see it this time. It was so cool.
So cool they allowed you to donate it!!! I love that so much- most of the time they consider it medical waste- what a waste! The placenta is so magical!!!
Oh man, you glazed right over the uterine massage. That was agony. And you are right about the painful cramping after birth that gets worse with each kid.
And Frida didn't have all the cool things when I had my babies! I actually would buy the incontinence adult diapers for postpartum at home. I loved those things.
I'm 22 weeks Prego with number 3 and I rarely leave comments but I just had to this time. You are absolutely hilarious! I was chuckling through most of this and laughed at some parts. Nice comic relief for me as I've just been in a serious fashion finishing my labor/delivery and postpartum lists for what I need and want on hand. Oh I love that!! For me, it was hard to stop. It was just magical. I had retired pretty much 100% by 2019 with only sporadic now and then calls from repeat families.

I totally understand all those feelings. My 4th baby was transverse at 37 weeks. I found spinning baby and went to a chiropractor that helped with certain adjustments. Thankfully she turned by 38 weeks! It is stressful!! So glad baby turned and that all is well. So excited to see your baby and hear the birth story.
Love your energy, and how much you and Alex love and treasure your family! We just had our 6th and final this year. I love seeing other large family's. And parents that love their kids. Also, your energy. Can I please bottle some of that!? This baby has kicked my butt!

Watching this as I pack my hospital bag, getting induced tomorrow due to hypertension. Thanks Kim for all the advice. I am first time momma. I was in the same situation with a transverse breach baby, but went to BSB concert and danced the entire night baby flipped that weekend. I can say BSB turned my baby’s world upside down! 😂 Lots of Love ❤️

Hi Kim! The same thing happened to me when I was pregnant with my son and he turned on his own🙌🏻🙌🏻 He weighed 9 lbs 12 oz and was 22 inches long and all went well👍🏻 Even though he’s 24 now sometimes it seems like yesterday . Praying for a safe delivery for you and baby 🙏🏻🙏🏻

@@thewadsquad lol yes and now he’s 6’4” and around 240. Our first daughter Hayley weighed 9 lbs 3 oz, then we had our son Brandon (he weighed the most), and then our daughter Emily was the only one I went into labor on my own and she actually came 11 days early and was 8 lbs 12 oz. With Hayley I went 2 weeks past my due date before I was finally induced and then since Brandon was so big they induced me on my due date. So I understand when you talk about going past 40 weeks lol. Hang in there cause you’re doing great!!
Hey Kim! I had a successful external cephalic version at 40 weeks while IN labor with my 5th baby! They prepped me for an emergency cesarean and 3 men pushed and pulled and he rotated from frank breech, which is butt first, to head down within 10 minutes. It didn't hurt but it definitely felt weird. I'll make a video about my birth story with him! He's 19 now soo...lol

My first baby was breach but just before delivery she changed to head down on her own. Next two where head down. Fourth was c section. You will do fine! You are so inspirational. I feel like your a friend sitting across the table chatting.
I am so grateful that I delivered within 3 hours of getting to the hospital, and I was gone in 24 hours, and I never had those pains you were talking about with any of my kids, but this particular one I am talking about was my last one. Good Luck.
I am currently 33 weeks pregnant with my third baby, and your channel is giving me all the feels lately! This will actually be my first natural birth, and we opted to have this baby at home.
