Yes, mr. Jackman did a great job with this role. But, physically, he wasn't really appropriate for the character of Wolverine. Remember, Logan was like...5'2 or something. And alot stockier.

Logan always reminded me of Jax Teller (Sons of Anarchy). They both went through so much pain and experienced so much tragedy. At the end of their lives, they actually seemed to welcome death. Jax had a smile on his face heading straight into that semi and Logan also had a smile on his face as he was dying, "so this is what it feels like".
