You have to keep in mind that only three people lived in that house.
But they had 90 servants inside besides the ones who worked outside.
The Vanderbilt's idea of a party was to have two or three hundred people over for a few weeks.
By the way there is a 3-mile driveway to get to it. Imagine the look on Edith's face when they rounded the corner and she saw that French chateau for the first time. WOW !
Thank you for the walkthrough !
I have been several times, but it's been awhile and it's neat seeing it again !
The dressings rooms were for guests to change into their swim suits. This video is definitely through a man's eyes lol! The Vanderbilts were humanitarians and paid their help very well. They helped educate the locals in skills so they could read and write and get a job. The nasty comments here from viewers are unfair and uneducated.
Thank you for the kind words
@@614Lyfe I wasn't referring to you , I meant other commenters!
Thanks for watching again
"a man's view" 🤣🤡
According to there theology they where hipocrits just as the rich liberals are today
It’s been about 8 years now, since I went on that class field trip to Biltmore. These vids bring back great memories.
Richie Rich was filmed here that’s what I’ll forever remember it for lol
Ill have to watch it again its been so long
I'd like to see the electric bill for one day. It really is hard to believe just 3 people lived here.
thats what i was thinking too. and how much does it cost to heat this place in the winter. has to be unreal
You are joking. 3 people??? Unreal.
@@compass_Matt 3 people and like 100 servants 😂
That’s why they went broke lol
@@javir4958 😂🤣🤣👍
Loved seeing this video. I liked other official videos but yours was way more personal. Commentary made me laugh too. Thanks for posting!
so happy you liked the video. This place was amazing to visit and we cant wait to go back

The cantilevered staircase is a marvel
in itself !
Yes limestone slabs counterbalanced. Amazing
Such a gorgeous place. Thanks for the video.
I know someone who’s Dad ran the dairy farm for many years. Her family lived in a house on the property
I was there in 1995 but I think you are seeing places we didn't! Such a fantastic mansion!!
Inguess they have a private tour now that does most ofnthe house but they charge big money for that.
It's a shame the original trees that lined the front yard got old and started to deteriorate. It's was a stunning view.
That would have been amazing to see
I loved your video! I went here a couple of years ago with my grandparents. Very fond memories.
We can’t wait to go back when she is older.
I wonder if Anderson Cooper is allowed to walk in and just touch everything
i was thinking the same thing lol
Magnificent estate on such a grand scale.
It is something for sure
Exceptionally thorough for just 20 minutes. Thank you!
You’re welcome
Heading there next weekend! Thanks for the tour.
you will have a blast. I wish we had more time to tour the whole grounds
Been there years ago looks like nothing change, yes it's still a family home which is great.
crazy how big it was
People with big banks accounts, big houses and bigger ego - this larges is sickening.
Thanks for watching
Really cool video! I went there once when I was a kid, and it was such an amazing experience to explore the house as a young boy!
It was amazing
Not a castle, but definitely a fortress.
I think it's the music room upstairs where the Government (I think) hid some very important items during WW1 (?).
This is awesome... it's bringing back so many memories of trips there.
I have a friend at work who has never been and I can't wait for her to experience it.
17:40
If you're here at the right time of year there are 50,000 tulips in bloom ! WOW
Usually its all roses, etc
And of course, the decor at
Christmas is awesome !
Thanks for the tour. Now I don’t have to go. It was great to see but I know too much walking for me.
You should go at Christmas! It's stunning! Love the video. ✌
yes we keep hearing that. We defiantly have it on the list for when the baby gets older and can enjoy it more. Also we hear Disney is amazing during Christmas. Thanks for watching
Can’t wait to go dope video bro
Its unreal. And to think it was a private home is crazy. You will love it.
I did some research and it’s still owned by the Vanderbilt decedents.
I been through that exact tour.i miss 7th grade in north carolina mocksville
I don't understand why the tour doesn't show every single room and go up to the 4th floor. Interesting video!
I rem going as a field trip when I was in elementary school didn't understand much when I was little, but know I look back and I was just amazed I was there .
Yeah as a kid you don’t know how cool of a place it is. Its worth going back as an adult for sure.
@@614Lyfe Also as a kid we did realize that most of what was said about the house especially the inside "pool" was lies!!
Thank you ! great informative
Thanks for watching and have a wonderful time when you go
Liked this, however there were a few things within the house you got wrong. Growing up an hour from the estate and being obsessed with the history little mistakes jump out at me.
I was there for the first time this week. This video is great. You weren't ever asked to stop?
We filmed with our sony SLR so it looked like a photo camera. But we had no issues with the staff at all. It was a wonderful place to see.
6:47
In the Rooftop Tour, you get to see the
nut that holds that chandelier, wow !
Highly recommend tour. It may be called something different now.
The used to have the rooftop tour as well as a behind-the-scenes tour.
: )
Great video. Not sure why they would restrict video as it only promotes the place and makes me want to visit in person.
I always find it amusing hearing the comments in videos or from comments of the video of the complete and utter astonishment of someone building something like this. It is completely inconceivable to them based on their current position in life. Some get angry that one has so much, some see it as a waste and others like me see it as what's possible if you want to work for it. What you can conceive and believe, you can achieve. Think small, achieve small...think big, achieve big. Hint: this isn't possible to have if you work for someone else.
My thoughts exactly
"It's a big club, and you ain't in it" - George Carlin. Still rings true today.
Lol
🤘🏻 it's bullshit folks and it's bad for ya
1:15
The Winter Garden.
There are photos of them having parties in this room. All set up for dining.
Leevers on the wall allowed you to open and close those glass windows above.
Great video. I was there in 2021 so I loved seeing a tour of the house again. Though the commentary was very wrong in a lot of places. It may be better without the commentary. And the plural of horse is horses. Thanks for the video anyway.
I saw some glass on certain areas, I wonder if they had lead in the wallpaper…either way, I’ve wanted to visit, but obviously Covid prevents me from doing so, but I’ve thought about using the house as inspiration for a novel I’m working on. Thanks for the tour!
I want to say it was fabric wallpaper so they didn’t want people touching it
Went there on a 5th grade trip when I was little year 2003 # close too Christmas time the way they had the decorations it was lovely but I always been a curious person even at 29 years old now ...when I was there they had areas not open in the mansion I wanted to sneak off an see LOL ... always wondered does any one know what is in the areas that guess can’t view # planning on a return trip
15:25
This was just a room for the guys to hang out and a secret door leads through to where the hunting guns are, if I remember correctly. : ). I'd love to play around a pool in there
We went at Christmas time a couple years ago. It was a dream of mine to see it. Breathtaking!
I bet they put out some amazing lights
Walking around that house from one end to the other would be a full workout
It was lol
I have visited the Biltmore Estate it's really cool and I would love to live there even though that is impossible. Just for one month the electric bill is $10,000 imagine having to pay that lol.
I don't know why, but visiting this place gave me an overwhelming feeling of emending doom
Touring that place? Would be AWESOME.
But imagine LIVING in it.
I can’t wait to go back
Did you know there used to be an outdoor in ground swimming pool with diving board on the left side of the biltmore estate but it's not there now they filled it in
That would have been a sight to see for sure
@@614Lyfe would have been a sight to see but luckily there are pictures of it on Google
It can be seen briefly in this video from 1950. Begin watching about the 10:00 mark for the drive into Biltmore. ruclips.net/video/fekWSFtH65c/видео.html
thakns
Dang they should’ve kept it😭
How were you able to film this? They’ve never allowed photography before?
Didn’t see one sign and not one guard said anything and i have a sweet camera that doubles as a video camera
I would love to go back in time a see how this mansion was built.
I think they built a rail track up tonthe home to deliver all the supplies
1:08
The stables, bigger than most people's houses
Did you have to stay with a group or could you explore at your leisure?
no you just get a time slot to enter. You are able to pay for an audio tour or you can upgrade to a privet group tour
I’ve been there in 2017 it was cool
It was an amazing place
few years ago when i went there, they did not allow photography at all.
They must have changed the rules. they didn't say a thing to me when i went through security and other people had camera as well. Thanks for watching.
That's a pretty gay rule
@@614Lyfe why do you keep liking your own comments? 😆
@@rob9911 because the algorithm like it
at 8:38 what were the pictures you couldn't put on
lets just say the people had no cloths on lol
0:38 why do I hear a PASS device going off in the distance? Reminds me of 9/11 footage where you hear it in the aftermath of the collapse from trapped firefighters.
Not sure ill have to rewatch with headphones.
I'm surprised you got away and others taking video and pictures cuz on the website it says nada
We are kinda a big deal lol
anursewhocares agreed. Respect.
Kinda glad I watched this rather than wasting my time and money
Its worth going
Nice exterior but the interior isn’t too my taste. Seems a bit bland. But of course this was designed over two hundred years ago. This house feels more built to impress with size rather than style.
different times back them for sure
I like the carved wood and stone. Esp in the Dining Hall and Library, but what I’d love is to have high-tech modern amenities mixed in with the old castle/palace style. 😃
It was designed 124 years ago, not over 200.
8:26
At one of daughter Cornelia"s parties, they painted the walls
Amazing video. The inside is even more opulent than I could have ever imagined. Definitely more opulent than the Buckingham palace. Imagine how many ppl they cheated through shady trade to get that rich. At least they actually paid for the items in the place compared to the stolen ones in Buckingham palace. The tapestry and the furniture are so detailed. Beautiful beyond belief. It is an endless treasure of wealth.
And they offer a private tour that get you in more of the home
The pool is in podestas pictures
Thanks for watching
Yes! It’s what I heard as well! That place is actually pretty evil
This just in, babies cry.
Its life lol thanks for the support
2:32
Ummmmm, no.
The "money was made" by his
grandfather in the shipping industry.
: )
When I went there no one was allowed in the winter garden😪
Noooo
It makes the White House look like a Row Home. The Estate was built before Income Tax Laws were passed that would make building houses like this uber expensive. I mean I'm sure it probably costed $10 Million to build at the time. Probably cost more to build Biltmore than it did to build the original Penn Station.
12:00
The Horror !
Lol
Is it worth the $95 to do the tour? Any thoughts?
I would definitely say yes.
@@614Lyfe Okay, thanks. I think I'll just do the garden tour as we only have one day in the area. I am shocked by the price though, as it is only $35 to tour Hearst Castel here in California and everything is SO expensive in California. lol
That baby might end up with some expensive tastes. I bought my six month old to marble house and I swear it must have rubbed off! She is telling you what your going to have spend on her.
Lol she definitely has expensive taste
Im from that area
Beautiful part of the country
It’s beautiful, grand and yet so ostentatious due to the obscene showcase of wealth and decadence , no one needs a separate kitchen for rotisserie chicken😑🍗
5:45
This is the room their daughter
Cornelia was born in. Very silver spoonish !
: )
You swing the camera too much. Gave me seasickness
Just move with the camera
when i went there, it was raining
That was our biggest fear. We lucked out the next day it was bad storms.
614Lyfe it was still very pretty even in the rain though :)
yeah you cant go wrong with the Biltmore. I really want to go around Christmas I hear its amazing with all the lights
If I see one more ad about being a nurse
What will you do
limited views of outside
69 per person I think is expensive....
they have to pay that AC bill
$80-100 now
Its becoming like a disnsy park. They have a whole wine tour now thats included with your tickets.
How much Kid's
Is it worth it, paying all that money to visit?
I would go back and do it again and you get so much more then what i showed. With the ticket price
Baby 7:55 pm 8/7/2022
This is what happenes when you have too much $. People who worked for those billionaires were paid low wages and no benefits. Many of them were immigrants from Europe.
Actually, Ted, if you do your homework you will discover otherwise. Their servants were paid quite handsomely and Vanderbilt spent a great deal of money educating the local populace so they could find gainful employment, I would encourage you to study. Your comment is menial and shows little effort.
Why are you so rude to your wife? What on earth?
Was I?
Shame it cost an exorbitant amount to visit !
You sure talk to your wife rudely.....enjoy while it lasts cause it’ll eventually backfire. I didn’t hear her say she wanted you to do anything about the baby crying. Maybe try helping out as a father instead of taking a video for RUclips . Try being present.
Someone work up on the wrong side of the bed
Cindy mind your own fucking business
L O U D enough music to start out?
Then, right off the bat, "...huge, in my donald trump voice."
Too bad you took something that should have been quite enjoyable and ruined it in under 3 minutes.
Happy to have made your day
