Looking good Julio! I just started using my MEC 600 yesterday. Got some adjustments to make, but it’s usable now. I had to get a set of 12 gauge dies and change them out from 20 gauge to 12. A good project for sure!
Julio, there is a vid on youtube on rebuilding a SAECO casting pot that you should check out, it is really good help in how to disassemble & rebuild etc. Mike
I just used a wire brush wheel in my electric drill to remove the rust - then used hi heat paint to paint it. Spray the screws with penetrating oil let it sit a day then take it apart.
I have the Lyman Mold Master XX and the mica or asbestos (?) fiber board that the plug receptacle mounts to finally crumbled. Did you ever find a replacement for it? Has the hard wiring held up so far while still generating enough heat without melting the wiring insulation?
Hi mine was crumbled also so I used a SO cord because the original cord was getting hot I ran it for about 10 min and the pot got hot and the cord was cool I haven’t ran it for a long period yet I was going to do zinc with it and I changed my mind I’m going to use it when using soft lead for the little time I ran it the cord looked fine i have to run it one day to see what happens I’m assuming it should be fine if not I have to find a high temp cord also the cord ends are sticking out of the pot it’s not inside I think it should be fine I also insulated the ends
@@ocean374 I think I'm going to try to find a piece of ceramic or maybe asbestos and replace the plate. You did a nice job restoring the pot - good work!
@@ocean374 Good call thanks, I'm going to look into some type of either ceramic/asbestos plate locally but if I cant find anything I think thats a good way to go. You'd think someone would have replacement parts!
